Description

We are an innovator in the acoustics industry. Our products are effective, durable, easy to install, and made in the USA. From the home to the office, from commercial settings such as restaurants and boutiques to institutional settings such as church sanctuaries and health centers, sound impacts your daily life — and creating the best environment, not just acoustically, for your needs means everything to us. For over 20 years, Audimute has set the standard in providing free sound advice, acoustic design consultation, and cutting edge acoustic treatments. Mitch Zlotnik, Founder and President of Audimute, needed soundproofing to keep the peace in his household while he played his drums. The solution he found became the basis of Audimute. With several years behind him of product development and innovation based on customer feedback (and personal use of the products), Mitch brought his products and vision to the Web. The core of our sound absorption products is eco-C-tex, a proprietary blend of 100% recycled cotton and cellulose fibers. All products are of superior quality & Made in USA. Visit the Store To best soundproof a door, couple isolé with an Audimute Soundproofing Acoustic Door Seal Kit. An isolé Sheet is most effective at blocking sound transfer directly through a door. An Acoustic Door Seal Kit more effectively seals the gaps around a door to block sound that would otherwise travel through. If you are seeking to specifically improve sound quality in a space by reducing sound echoes and reverberation, then we recommend considering our effective sound absorption products: Below are names of additional sound barrier products: To view our products and learn more about sound and Audimute, select the "Audimute Store" link by the product title at the top of the page. • Absolutely worth the money
Color: Steel
I don't write many reviews but came here to write this one because there are some reviews of this product by people who really don't seem to get it. So, first off, thank you to the top-rated reviewer who already came here to set the record straight - that review convinced me to buy one of these sheets. I live in the city, close to a busy road, and there's about to be construction outside. My bed is directly next to a window and there's truly no way to change the room around to fix that. Our sleep has been under assault by partiers at night (even during this COVID time), garbage trucks at 6am, delivery vehicles, and now, heavy construction equipment. This product is not inexpensive, but it is well made and works as promised. The manufacturer does not over-promise. First, this is professional-grade sound-deadening gear of the sort I'd expect to find in a well-situated recording studio. Construction is superb, detailed, solid in a way that is rare these days. For our purposes, one blanket fully covering the window completely eliminates the low-grade background noise of passing cars, conversations, yelling,... and substantially attenuates much louder noises. Construction has not yet resumed (It's a holiday) so I plan update once we are under siege by the really noisy machines. Notes: It's rally important to get a good "seal" especially if you're up against a window. This window is in the corner, and the pad is hung such that it touches the adjacent wall on that side of the window, and overaps about 1 inch of the window frame on the other side. I think we'd have better sound reduction if the pad were a bit wider. In the small gap between the left side of the frame and the pad, some sound does get through - i'm planning to close that gap by taping it down (If the outside noise gets really bad), or making some sort of velcro strap, or possibly purchasing this company's soundproofing tape for doors and attaching it to the window frame, so that the pad comes to rest against it. I will also consider purchasing as second sheet to overlap the first if we need to make the room even more quiet. All considered, this is about to be our second wave of construction and I'm feeling a whole lot less anxious about it knowing that we have a way to knock down the noise that will get into our sleeping space. The product is very well made - rare to find this quality these days in an amazon order of 1 unit of a specialty item like this. Thank you to audimute for making this product available in small quantities to the general public - often manufacturers like this are difficult for retail buyers like us to do business with. ... show more

  • Very effective if you need some peace and quiet!
Color: Black
I live in a noisy apartment complex and purchased 3 of these to cover my windows. From what I've seen so far they are extremely effective. For one, they are exceptional at blocking high frequency sound coming from outside. Lawnmowers, leafblowers, loud obnoxious talkers, etc. Secondly if I feel like turning my music way up and don't want to disturb my neighbors they are perfect for blocking sound from coming out. Even standing two feet away from my window outside I tested it with music at full blast and it sounded very faint. They are quite heavy, moving or removing them when I occasionally take them down to get some sunlight, is a big ordeal. Also, they are tricky to install since each sheet has the holes spaced out slightly differently. Aside from those minor drawbacks, these are very high quality, durable and effective sound blockers. ... show more

  • Its pretty good i guess
Color: Black
This product has a strong rubber smell, which will stink up your entire room. I left it in the garage for a couple weeks. Seemed to help a lot. Now it doesnt really smell anymore, I think. It's super heavy so get some strong hooks to hold it up. Pain in the butt to hang up and take down. But it does help. Also get some special sticky tape to line the inside of the door frame to fill in the cracks. This also helps with sound. Then get some super thick sticky tape to seal the bottom of the door crack because a lot of sound comes through the bottom as well. Then get strong sticky hooks and place a bunch on the wall above the door and hang super long 80+ inch blackout curtains from Bed bath and beyond. I literally hand two layers of those thick blackout curtains above the layer of this sound proofing sheet along with filling in all the seems and cracks around the door with the sticky tape. Helps a lot. AND FINALLY, in addition for the bottom of the door, I got a rubber door stop thing that I put velcro on and velcron on the door so I can take it on and off because its too flush with the floor and makes a sounds and makes the door harder to open. But it really blocks any additional sound that may come through. Make sure the curtains touch the floor as well. AND ALSO, you can use a 3 inch temperpedic mattress topper from bed bath and beyond to prop up agains the door for added sound insulation. You can use a painting easel to keep it from falling down along with other heavy object piled up against the door to keep it all from crashing down. ... show more

  • I was desperate and this actually worked! I was desperate and this actually worked!
Color: Bone
We got a new dog who barks at every noise coming from the hallway of our apartment complex. We love him dearly, but needed something to ease his anxiety and keep our neighbors sane. I combined this with AudioMute’s adhesive door seal kit and now the sound coming from the hall way (and from our apartment to the hallway) is quite muffled. By no means does this completely block sound, but it is a pretty drastic change in volume. I opted to use over door hooks to hang the isole over the door. It was pretty easy and avoided damage (I’m renting). I knew the isole wasn’t big enough for our door, but using it with the sealing kit should help through its mass alone. Our front door fits terribly in its door frame. This kit created a seal in all the gaps. I used a flashlight to test the seal for any gaps where the light could shine through. Then I would double up the seal in those places so that I could creat a custom seal for our door frame. I had to remove several strips as I was figuring it out. The adhesive is very strong and will leave a lot of residue behind when you remove the strips. But it did not rip any paint off of our door frame. I got the larger kit size and only have a little left after all my attempts to get the perfect seal. So if you’re not confident in applying it then you may want the larger size. Really happy with the results! ... show more

  • It works okay, but it's not long enough. A bit pricey.
Color: Bone
Standard doorway height is 80 inches, but that doesn't include your typical 2 inch trim, plus more for where you are going to actually hang it. There's about a 5 inch gap at the bottom because of this and I have it installed as close to the trim as possible. I would give it a better score if it weren't for that. As far as how well it works; It's just okay. It does help, but it's not night/day. Installing weather stripping had more of an effect on sound reduction. The gap likely doesn't help. It really does need to be longer. It can always be hung higher, but it can't really be hung any lower. This item combined with a hollow-core door is still not as good as just a solid-core door with weather stripping. It's maybe 75% comparable, but 25% is still a lot. So it's not bad, but it does leaves more to be desired. Certainly better than nothing as long as you can afford the price but can't afford a solid-core door with weather-stripping. You could potentially make such an item yourself that might work better by combining 1lb sq/ft MLV and thick acoustic foam, then wrap in canvas with eyelets. The cost would be slightly higher I think, but it would probably wort better. This item weighs 20lbs, that makeshift item would weigh closer to 40lbs, which is actually what you want for sound blocking which I imagine is what people are buying this specific model for. ... show more

  • Really blocks sound
Color: White
The best sound blanket. In my home the hvac system is in a closet in the middle of the house, 12 feet away from my bed. I upgraded the unit and found it to be too noisy. I hung these sound blankets just on the inside of the door way and it has made the furnace/air handler noise very quiet. I am very appreciative of this product. I told the hvac people I would have to tone down the noise or move. These sound blankets saved me from a move I did not want to do. ... show more

  • The hardware is trash The hardware is trash
Color: Black
The curtain itself is decent. Quality might be better, however, I can’t tell a difference, acoustically, between this and a heavy moving blanket with grommets that you could buy for less than half the price of the isole. but… my main reason for the one star review is how poorly designed the hardware is. I’ve seen $10 Target brand floating shelves come with better mounting hardware than this product. For $100 I expected much higher quality. I spent a little over an hour trying to hang this because two of the three screws were going into studs (wood frame a couple inches below the ceiling) and because of this, the anchors can not be used AND because the shanks have no form of screw head, you can’t use any form of drill/driver to get these in the wall… you have to use pliers with a really tight grip. If you even have mild carpal tunnel or ever had a wrist injury… good luck. Also, a drywall anchor completely shattered (see photo) with the 3rd hit of a hammer, making it useless. This mounting system is pure TRASH. To make it worse, the instructional video on Audimute’s YouTube channel shows them using the plastic cap to screw it into the wall; the issue with that is that it severely over tightens the cap onto the shank, to the point I thought I’d break it when I had to remove it with the pliers. Here’s a better solution, Audimute… just go up a couple sizes in diameter and cut out an X at the end of the shank so people can use a phillips bit with their cordless drill or a ratcheting driver. Some of us aren’t able to stand on a ladder for 45 minutes while breaking their wrist trying to twist these useless things into the wall using a pair of pliers. Seriously, what id10t designed this?! I was planning on buying at least 3 more for a home studio, but not anymore. I’m looking for alternatives now. Stay away from this product! ... show more

  • Works very well (if you buy it for the right purpose)
Color: Steel
I felt that I needed to write a review of this product because some of the reviews here are borderline ridiculous. The Audimute isole works extremely well for my purpose. I needed a solution for one of the doors in my home studio that I could not treat acoustically otherwise and the combination of soundproofing and absorption with a sheet that I can put up temporarily is just perfect. Unfortunately, it is an inch too short for my particular situation but that is something I can live with. Couple of comments with respect to some of the other reviews: - Yes, it is heavy. If it wouldn't be heavy it would not work. There is just no way around that. However, it is not that heavy. I felt that this is a good compromise between functionality and usability. But you need to be able to lift 20 pounds above your head in order to hang it. - I have no idea why somebody would need instructions on how to put a screw into a wall but if you have no idea on how to use the included hardware you should probably stay away from any home improvement project. Having said that I do agree with some reviewers that using some more heavy duty hooks might be advisable. And make sure that you screw it into something solid like a stud. - The sheet has two sides. One is rubber, which is the sound barrier, and one is soft, which is the absorption side. In almost all applications I can think of you would want the absorption side on the inside and the sound barrier on the outside. Judging from the images here it seems that most people hang it with the wrong side facing inwards. If you are only interested in using it as a sound barrier it won't make much of a difference though. - It is physically impossible for a sheet with this thickness to keep out the low end rumble of your neighbor playing the latest DnB track. Do not expect miracles. It does work surprisingly well at the higher frequencies though. According to the specification, it works well above 400 Hz but has only very little effect at 200 Hz and below. - New products made of rubber can stink. Sometimes quite a bit. Give it a few days, it will go away. Fortunately, the sheet that I got had no unpleasant smell at all. ... show more
