The ATN PVS7-3 Night Vision Goggles is a robust, dependable, high- performance Night Vision System. The ATN PVS7-3 Night Vision Device is identical to the ATN AN/PVS-7 model adopted as a standard issue to U.S. Army ground troops, designed to assist viewing provide reliable service in the most unfavorable conditions. I got these on a special and they have been very good. There is one black spot on the tube that is pretty big and just off center, but it is not a big issue. And at the price I paid ($2.3K, maybe open-box?) they are awesome! Purchased 3-30-2022 and after 9 months of use, all good as of 12-2022.

    • Not a good product
The product is too heavy to stay comfortably on your head. It also looks like it could be used as a hand held but this is not possible as it has a mechanism that only works when you wear it on your head. Amazon was great about returning it but not a good product, especially not for the price tag.

    • Great goggles
I have used the goggles in several locations since purchasing. One at about 7,000 feet elevation and the other on the edge of a city at about 1,400 feet. Much better viewing in a higher remote location without the background of the city lights. They provide an amazing view of the night sky. The biggest problem since purchasing is that the night sky has not been clear for a period due to unusual rains, and also the moon has been waxing and just will be full tonight so, better viewing is expected soon as we go into a waning moon cycle. Sky viewing is not nearly as good with a lot of moonlight. On every night but one, I have seen UFO's which are great. I primarily bought them for this purpose. Looking at the sky with these provides a dramatic and stunning difference from the normal sky without them. Makes you realize how many stars there are out there. I have not used them to look at anything on the ground yet. I probably would rate them a full five stars if I had more time viewing with them in good conditions. Quality of the goggle build seems very good, and I went with the gen 3 goggle just to get the better technology. I would be interested to see what quality a gen 2+ puts out, as the specs are very close to the gen 3. I had been able to look at a gen 2 and a gen 3 prior to my purchase, but did not have access to the gen 2+. The gen 3 is much superior to the regular gen 2. One thing I do not like is that these goggles do not have the ability to squish together to adjust to a smaller person's eyes. This seems to cause an issue for my wife. ... show more

Explicitly clear, regardless of how dark the area is... images are very crisp and easily differentiated. I've used it indoors and outdoors... very clear indoors. Outdoors was even better. Looking at a clear night sky is unbelievable. Lastly, due to a shipping error, an incorrect item was originally sent to me. Both Amazon and ATN had excellent customer service. I have three pairs of these, all purchased from Amazon within the last three years. I keep all three in individual Pelican cases, without batteries. All three -- ALL THREE -- have failed in the last three weeks. Tell me -- are these 'factory seconds (or thirds) with known tubes that are marginal that are being fobbed off on the unsuspecting public? Wow! If the moon is out, it's like walking around in the daytime. Even without the moon, it's fairly impressive. It's a manual focus, so when your target changes from far-off to very close by, you have to adjust - but when you do, it is very sharp. Be careful with buying these. We had ours just over the 2 year warranty period. They were stored in the canvas bag inside a pelican case (without the batteries). They were only used twice for a total of 30 minutes. They were never dropped and were cared for perfectly. All of a sudden they wouldn't power on so we sent them to the manufacturer for repair. Somehow, someway both the body and tube are worn out and I basically have a $3200 paperweight since the warranty is now expired. The manufacturer can't even tell me what went wrong with them and is just telling us to go ahead and replace them. The repair is more than the price of new pair. For full disclosure, I did not buy these through Amazon but would've been grateful to have this information before I made our purchase. ... show more
