The ATN PVS7-3 Night Vision Goggles is a robust, dependable, high- performance Night Vision System. The ATN PVS7-3 Night Vision Device is identical to the ATN AN/PVS-7 model adopted as a standard issue to U.S. Army ground troops, designed to assist viewing provide reliable service in the most unfavorable conditions.     • Great goggles
I have used the goggles in several locations since purchasing. One at about 7,000 feet elevation and the other on the edge of a city at about 1,400 feet. Much better viewing in a higher remote location without the background of the city lights. They provide an amazing view of the night sky. The biggest problem since purchasing is that the night sky has not been clear for a period due to unusual rains, and also the moon has been waxing and just will be full tonight so, better viewing is expected soon as we go into a waning moon cycle. Sky viewing is not nearly as good with a lot of moonlight. On every night but one, I have seen UFO's which are great. I primarily bought them for this purpose. Looking at the sky with these provides a dramatic and stunning difference from the normal sky without them. Makes you realize how many stars there are out there. I have not used them to look at anything on the ground yet. I probably would rate them a full five stars if I had more time viewing with them in good conditions. Quality of the goggle build seems very good, and I went with the gen 3 goggle just to get the better technology. I would be interested to see what quality a gen 2+ puts out, as the specs are very close to the gen 3. I had been able to look at a gen 2 and a gen 3 prior to my purchase, but did not have access to the gen 2+. The gen 3 is much superior to the regular gen 2. One thing I do not like is that these goggles do not have the ability to squish together to adjust to a smaller person's eyes. This seems to cause an issue for my wife. ... show more

-- I give this a 4 out of 5 stars. The characteristics that weren't perfect was some minor dark spots in the lens. They aren't overly noticeable and hardly obstruct the users view, yet they are still there. There were a few scratches on the plastic, but nothing major. Also, the head gear doesn't fit my smaller sized head so I've been looking into other head gear that are compatible. I haven't found anything yet. As for a pair of binoculars for surveillance, they are perfect. They are light weight, the carry bag they come in is perfect for them, and the NVGs are very easy to use. The infrared illuminator works out to maybe 30 feet, which is good for indoors. Even with the illuminator off and the room so dark you can't see a waving hand in front of your face or any silhouettes, these NVGs do a fairly good job of letting you see in total darkness. With being outside it is like seeing in the day time. Only thing that I've read and seen videos on is that the PSV-14 are better. So, if you have the money go with the PSV-14, but the PSV-7 will fit the bill for just about anyone. Make sure you get Gen. 3 for best quality. ... show more

I got these on a special and they have been very good. There is one black spot on the tube that is pretty big and just off center, but it is not a big issue. And at the price I paid ($2.3K, maybe open-box?) they are awesome! Purchased 3-30-2022 and after 9 months of use, all good as of 12-2022.

Explicitly clear, regardless of how dark the area is... images are very crisp and easily differentiated. I've used it indoors and outdoors... very clear indoors. Outdoors was even better. Looking at a clear night sky is unbelievable. Lastly, due to a shipping error, an incorrect item was originally sent to me. Both Amazon and ATN had excellent customer service. Wow! If the moon is out, it's like walking around in the daytime. Even without the moon, it's fairly impressive. It's a manual focus, so when your target changes from far-off to very close by, you have to adjust - but when you do, it is very sharp. Now...if only I could find a proper flip-up adapter for my Lancer Tactical CA-805B helmet. ... show more

Absolutely fantastic goggles!! I have the ATN NVM14 gen 2 as well and while it's great too, It doesn't come close to the brightness and clarity of these. As matter of fact the wife likes them so much she's letting me get another! Probably get the PVS14-3 though. Depth perception can be a bit tricky with these. ... show more

I have three pairs of these, all purchased from Amazon within the last three years. I keep all three in individual Pelican cases, without batteries. All three -- ALL THREE -- have failed in the last three weeks. Tell me -- are these 'factory seconds (or thirds) with known tubes that are marginal that are being fobbed off on the unsuspecting public? All I know is that I have ten thousands dollars of useless junk. Got ten large that YOU don't need? ... show more

    • Not a good product
The product is too heavy to stay comfortably on your head. It also looks like it could be used as a hand held but this is not possible as it has a mechanism that only works when you wear it on your head. Amazon was great about returning it but not a good product, especially not for the price tag.
