Update: I returned these and bought a Pulsar. The Pulsar is far superior. Within 30 minutes of use mine froze up about a half dozen times and I had to factory reset twice. I contacted "Support" and they told me to update the firmware. The "firmware update" on the website is older than the one in the glasses. LOL! So I called them and they emailed me a long workaround that included an "update installer" you have to load onto your PC. I followed the instructions to a tee. NOTHING Nothing updated, nothing worked. Here's a crazy idea: How about just shipping a pair that is updated and ready to go? This is too much money to have this many problems right out of the gate. I bought these binoculars for my hunting and they were great. I could see heat signatures easily. I would suggest adamant hunters to buy this binocular.

Great tech, but not usable for birding. They need to have more powerful imaging, compositing with optics. Pure thermal by itself has not enough reference to allow spotting of hiding birds.

So...having the urge to splurge on myself for Father's Day, I decided to buy myself a set of thermal binoculars. I ended up buying these based on an aggregate of numerous reviews I gathered throughout the web. When I finally received them, I wasted no time in getting to know the newest member of my hunting gear. After a couple of days, I found myself really happy with what I bought going as far as updating the firmware right away. No fuss, no issues, very easy. It's intuitive, for me, and the image quality is really good based on my limited experience. However, I have to dock it one star for the user manual. Unlike the product, it's not very detailed, doesn't explain a whole lot, doesn't explain when to use the color palets, and most of all...does not have a troubleshooting section. I had an issue with an "err" I got when I updated the firmware so the web helped me fix it. Super easy. Sure, I could easily call the customer service number but let's face it... If the manual is written right, no call is needed. Besides, it was late at night. However, I would no doubt know that the customer service rep would be friendly and helpful. ... show more
