    • With Some Tweaking It's Incredible!
I'm an old musician and circumstances put me in a place where I no longer have a decent, sophisticated audio system. I recently got a nice laptop, and wanted to listen to some jazz. There isn't much on the radio, and even so, I only have a small AM/FM radio. The laptop speakers are okay, but not much. I need portable because there's no room for a soundbar and Surround Sound setup. It has to get packed up each day when I'm doing other things. Earphones are annoying for casual listening. I got the idea of a Bluetooth speaker or system. So this review isn't about carrying the unit around, outdoor parties, waterproofing, or any other "modern" uses for these portable speakers. It's about how does it sound in the best possible situation -- at home, from a computer, on jazz, which is all over the place in terms of sound quality and production. First of all, it comes with both a charging cable (USB C), and a short auxiliary connection cable. There's also some sort of carrying strap I didn't pay attention to. Secondly, it can run while charging. I'm using it with a USB-capable power strip, and don't really need it to be a long way from my work area. Third, it's very simple to turn off the LED lights on each end, by "clicking" (press) the On/Off button. If you just want LOUD, then this unit gets very loud! Not only does it have its own volume control, but you can also use the volume on whatever sound source you're using. I'm not interested in LOUD, so I don't care other than usually a louder volume unit will also have better speakers. This little guy has the best speakers for the price. If you're looking for a serious sound system, maybe to replace a full entertainment system, then go spend the money and buy one. I don't have much money to spare, so even $40 (in 2023) was a decision. I listened to reviews on YouTube (with headphones) of several other speakers in this price range, and the Asyoren caught my attention with its built-in bass (low end) strength. It also has an "EQ" button that will switch between 3 options: "General," "Bass Boost," and "Highs." Okay, but they're not particularly fantastic. So knowing this would be a small speaker, I also downloaded a free 10-band equalizer from FX Sound. It's a nifty little device that allows you to save "presets" with your favorite settings. When this Asyoren arrived, I hooked it up. I'd already installed the FX Sound thing. Totally a no-brainer: I plugged the speaker into the power strip, turned it on and went to the laptop. Called up Bluetooth (Windows 11), and it saw the speaker. I clicked on the Asyoren name, and Windows right away connected. Done. By the way, there's an audible tone when you turn on the speaker, so you know it's on. There's also a small LED indicator light that lets you know it's charging (red), or fully charged (blue). Also an audible "connected" sound. I've been screwing around with this now, going back and forth to YouTube picking some of the best engineered songs I could think of. If you're interested, I chose "Masquerade" - George Bensen, "Sailing" - Christopher Cross, "Thriller" - Michael Jackson, "Ricky Don't Lose That Number" - Steely Dan, and "Open Arms" - Journey. In my opinion, these songs were produced almost perfectly. There are others, of course, and I haven't yet wandered over into Classical music, but hey....it's new. When I got some settings saved (named for the song used), I went over to a Jazz streaming site (free): a place called AccuRadio. I pulled up some different styles, and started listening. Dayum! This little guy does an exceptionally credible job! I'd listen for a bit to a song, then switch between my saved presets on the FX Sound equalizer. Somewhere in those five or so, I could get a really good sound. I'd also turn off the equalizer in the middle of a song, and...well...it was kind of pathetic. But only because I had an immediate, live comparison: tweaked v. original factory sound. I understand that most people aren't going to be a) this picky, and b) this broke. And most people are fine with just about any audio quality. To get a good compromise is a fair bit of work. But this Asyoren Worked! I experimented with the physical position of the unit, since it's built like a sort of long pyramid. I think I like it most standing on end. The bass radiates from the bottom, with the 2 speakers (left and right) on one side. There's really no stereo separation, with both speakers next to each other. But I suppose if you bought a second one and paired it to the first (a built-in feature of the unit), you could pretend. This is like a really nice tabletop FM radio. Way better than the built-in laptop speakers! To summarize: This is a superb little powered speaker, especially at this price. It's nicely built, rugged, and has a hefty feel to it. On its own, without an additional software equalizer, it offers a very decent amount of sound. Yes, there's a lot of mid-range, but that's the small speakers. Oddly enough, with the software equalizer, I was able to make some tests. Frequency response: WITH the equalizer, at a nominal volume, like background music, I was able to easily hear as far down as 80 Hz! That's astonishing! That means you can modify the volume of an acoustic bass, or a bass drum (kick drum). For you Rap and Hip-Hop folks, you know you need a subwoofer if you want that bottom end. This won't be that loud, like a 10" or 15" woofer, but you'll hear it! At the top, I quit paying attention when it got past 15KHz, which is the high-end "ping" of a cymbal. It also can be the "s" sounds from a singer, or the higher strings of a violin. The point is that with a little tweaking from that equalizer, the speakers themselves can actually reproduce almost the entire audible spectrum. That's, frankly, incredible! Again...for a unit at this price. I've solved my problem. I can now listen to whatever music I want, here in the living room, sourced from anywhere on the Internet. I get a well-balanced, excellent sound for a very affordable price. My only suggestion is to get that equalizer or something like it, if you want sound quality rather than sound volume. For pool parties, camping, or other "normal" things people do with these speakers, it really does sound pretty good right out of the box. ... show more

Unfortunately my speaker arrived with some glue or some kind of spot on the top. Appeared to be repackaged. Not 100% sure. I had to return it. If it weren't for that I think that this speaker is the best on the market for the price. Clear highs and a nice preset eq. Music tested, just about every genre you can imagine. 60's oldies 80's pop & rock 90's everything gangster rap country dubstep ... show more

Absolutely impressed with this product. Battery life is excellent. The sound is great and with the three settings fits all music types. This is a great price for what you get. The higher priced ones do not sound this good at this size. Very recommended.

The media could not be loaded. So the sound is awesome on this bluetooth speaker. I tested it with several different types of music to see if it sounded ok and both treble and bass are great!! It does not miss the mid-range tones either. The speaker has great sound and battery longevity and my special needs grandson loves the lights. The quality of the speaker is very good. This speaker does not feel cheap to the touch. You can tell quality parts were used to make it. It was extremely simple to set up and to get bluetooth connected to my phone, it literally took 2 seconds. Very nice speaker with not only great sound, but a fantastic value too. ... show more

this speaker has real problem connecting to Bluetooth, very frustrating only will link 40% of the time if I could send it back now I would.
