This thing is awesome... Massive upgrade from the Nighthawk x6. Wifi 6 performance is on par with far more expensive brands, DNLA server allows you to select multiple mounted directories. The user interface looks great and is Gundam themed. WiFi6+WPA3+RGB+Gundam = 1 divine peice of hardware.

I purchased this router specifically for its gaming features and parental controls. The bandwidth limiter is essential for someone who wants to game competitively at the highest level but also have a large household who use the internet for streaming and gaming simultaneously. Instant guard is a great feature that basically allows your mobile device to access the internet safely and securely using a private VPN connection from your router even when you're not connected to your router. Some of my favorite features include the secured easy access to my connected USB storage device, user-friendly application via the phone app and easy parental control settings. I have a 10 year old son who is very acquainted with the internet and the older he gets the harder it gets to monitor what he does online so parents will controls is very important to me. It has wonderful Wi-Fi output, has setting to prioritize what gets the most Wi-Fi, wonderful when you have gamers in the house ( we have 3 ) and still allows me to watch tv apps with no interruptions. And it’s cool that it looks like Optimus Primes eyes

With Wifi Constantly staying above and beyond, I couldn’t be happier. The App is superrrrrr user friendly! Especially with the limited edition Gundam, it’s almost having another person living with us lol, as long as the connection stays solid with multiple devices to include Blink Cameras, Thermostat, Firesticks, Smart Tv, I have no complaints so far. I purchased the WiFi 6 RT-AS82U wireless router as an update technology for my older Netgear Nighthawk X4 R7500V2. I tested both routers on my 3600 sq-ft home. The home is a two story hows with 2.5 garage. I have several home devices that use the 2.4 GHz band including two digital thermostats, lawn water controller, and several Google Alexa controlled switches. Hence, the 2.4 GHz band performance, in addition to the 5 GHz band, is very important to me. I measured both routers using the IPhone iWiFi app. The results were surprising. On the 5 GHz the WiFi 6 Asus router provided an average of 19% bandwidth performance, On the other hand, on the 2.4 GHz band, the Asus WiFi 6 router provided a marked degradation of performance. The thermostats could not link up and forget about the devices on the garage. Not bad for the Old NetGear Nighthawk. One of the problems I see with the Asus WiFi 6 router is that you can't do vertical antenna orientation. You can move pivot them Up or Down but not 360 Deg Vertical. That is an oversight as the orientation of the WiFi antennas is very important to obtain best reception. Asus made the router look good with the RGB lights but I would have preferred respect for the older 2.4 GHz band, it is still important. ... show more
