  • Certifiably Badass

It is an amazing keyboard all the way around. I have one very tiny gripe, and that when you have the wrist rest against the keyboard, the LEDs don’t shine through it very bright. Not a big deal to me because I can’t stand using it anyway, but if you like using it and want it shining bright through that rest, don’t keep your hopes up. But that’s just my one gripe (besides armoury crate and aura sync, those programs are worse than stepping in diarrhea in nice clean white socks, but not the keyboards fault), it’s super fast, the animate portion is really cool and unique, and the sounds of the stock switches…to die for. Overall a really great purchase, I had already justified the $200 before I had really even used it. ... show more

  • Incredible keyboard!
Style: Strix Flare II
Asus absolutely crushed it with this keyboard. I truly love everything about it. I got mine with the red linear switches as I'm an FPS gamer and these keys lend themselves to my playstyle. Not only that, they are an absolute joy to type on as well. You can tell that Asus spent a lot of time designing this keyboard and packing it full of useful features. The RGB lighting is second to none. I love the fact that it comes with an included wrist wrest, the RGB pass-through on it is a nice touch as well. 8khz polling, not much to say about that other than you're never missing a beat and when you press a key that input is instantaneous. They keyboard does require the use of two USB-A ports, if I had to think of a single complaint that would be it. The AniMe Matrix is a very nice touch too. I wish there were more system plugins available to show information there. I would love to show my CPU / GPU temp or FPS but so far I have not been able to find a way to make that happen. ... show more

  • Makes a Great Gift
Style: Strix Flare II
Bought this as a gift for my gamer boyfriend. I was super hesitant to get it, really any kind of gift because these gamers can be very particular about their equipment. I heard about this keyboard after reading a few reviews and after doing some more extensive research not only on this keyboard but just gaming keyboards in general, I went ahead and got it this one. One of the main factors in deciding to get this keyboard was the ability to swap keys so he could customize it the way he wanted. The only downside was for how pricey it was it couldn’t even be wireless. In comparison to what he was using which was another high end keyboard, he absolutely loves this one and definitely considers this an upgrade. He says it’s much quieter and smoother with the key clicks. Definitely happy with this purchase. ... show more

Great keyboard, Asus software sucks.

  • Love that it is fully compatible with Armory crate
Style: Strix Flare II
As a key board itself it is very pleasant to work with. It has a good mechanical feel to it without being overly "clicky-clacky". As to the lighting, I am a big fan of armory crate, and how well my keyboard now integrates with my LED mapped case, 4080, RAM, fans, and cooler. Now I have the keyboard synced up with whatever effects I want, and it is fantastic. 9/10 would def recommend , my only ding is that it is a tad on the pricey side compared to other LED keyboards I've owned ... show more

  • Not quiet
Style: Strix Flare II
I love the keyboard and it feels great. I bought it thinking it would be quiet based on the reviews but it’s pretty loud. It’s like having the keyboard sound on your phone turned on it’s just annoying. The built in animated pixel screen is cool but what do you even put on it honestly without it being distracting. The wrist rest is better than any I’ve ever had. ... show more

  • Honestly the perfect keyboard for me...
Style: Strix Flare II
Love this thing. Originally bought it because the Animate function looked cool and it was a how swappable full sized keyboard. I was right, the Animate is a cool gimmick although the app used to run it is pretty flakey. The build quality is EXCELLENT with virtually no flex put in some Phoenix switches which makes it almost silent. And the coup de grace for me is the media keys. Brilliantly designed to control my spotify. Toggle well to move through tracks, a button on the end to play/pause and two more customizable buttons to boot. The only gripe I have is that the RGB brightness could be brighter. ... show more

  • Definitely not what it seems
Style: Strix Flare II
My only regret as of writing this review is not having any pictures. This is due to the unusual condition of actually disliking something so much, I boxed it back up immediately after testing it. To clarify the following review: This is based on my own personal preferences. This has nothing to do with the actual integrity of the keyboard. ASUS has always been reliable when it comes to a lot of products for me, and the majority of my products are ASUS. For me, the biggest issue was equally the tiny CTRL button, and the ergonomic wrist rest. When playing FPS, or even some other games that require the frequent use of the Ctrl button, it was way too small to hit precisely every time with the giant wrist pad in the way. It's great they want people to have support and to avoid potential damage to their wrists, but it was so thick, and raised into position that it felt unnatural. Both my partner and I briefly tested it out prior to boxing it, both shocked by just how unsatisfactory it was even with all the cool features. I would say we spent 10 minutes going over the different media controls, and software capabilities for the color schemes, and 2 minutes testing the physical keyboard out because it was that much of a let down. It was just plain uncomfortable at the wrist area. It sat higher than the keyboard and also super close. It would have been aggravating trying to push the last row of keys daily because of the way the wrist pad sat. You had to "push around" the pad to reach the keys. Yes, we could remove it, but at that point you're disassembling something you've spent money on, and it looks incomplete. The media scroll button at the top that you could press in and click also was pretty wonky. If pressing in to click when using normally, it was incredibly difficult not to also scroll as you pushed it in. Overall, wasn't pleased with the design choices, and ended up going with a ROG Strix Scope TKL (Cherry MX Brown switches). ... show more
