  • Great for the dollar especially if you get it on super sale
Style: Core i7 | RTX 3060
I got it on prime day sale so super great value for the dollar. I only got the 16 gb RAM version (note some of the specs say it is 12gb of RAM but actually it is now 16 GB it seems for the smallest version). Some people say it has been running loud, and that may be the case for theirs, they may have bum fans or are pushing it hard for upper tier gaming. For me, I'm probably only running it mid-upper tier gaming reqs and it barely even makes a sound then. Otherwise it is nearly silent, the barest hint of a whisper from my fans just running daily ez loads. However, when it boots up it runs the fans full blast for a second before they go down to normal speed and if they're running full blast then they are a bit loud. Mine runs at good heat, no overheating problems so far. Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that it doesn't come with another copy of windows 11 on a stick or something, but you can make a recovery drive yourself on a 32gb+ removable drive/thumbdrive. Other than that it comes with a bit of windows bloatware so I take that off, but otherwise great machine so far. I haven't used the tech support, and it comes with only tiny amounts of instructions, but I gave them 5stars for tech support as I haven't had to use it. The instructions manual is tiny, like 4 pages, I would prefer more documentation but you can make your own documenting your parts nowadays pretty ez. A few things about setting it up are that it has a "turn the power supply off/on" button that is different than the main on/off button that will control the power supply itself supplying or not supplying power. So that is handy but you need to know what it is or you might think it won't turn on when you just had the power supply turned off to begin with. Also, the main power button is on the front panel a bit hard to tell where it is (they show it in the manual but a bit hard to see anyway). Finally, you need to plug your monitor/HD TV connection into the ports on the graphics card rather than the main ports for displaying on the back (this is standard for computers with graphics cards but may help newbies and I had forgotten it myself). It comes with a mouse (not a great one but it works) and keyboard (not bad not great). But no monitor, so you need your own. And no internet cables I don't think either. Overall I like it but I think I will want 32GB of ram (I will pull the 2x 8GB chips it came with and replace with a 16 x 2 pair, or just add a 32 + one of the 8 already in it). Also it comes in a pretty large box that itself is inside a gigantic shipping package, not that heavy though overall. ... show more

  • Beats my expectations
Style: Core i7 | RTX 3060
Most of want I want to say has already been said in a review of this rig by Peter Backman. I built servers and gaming rigs for decades up until the last 5 years or so and I haven’t been keeping up with the latest hardware, nor did I have time to re-educate myself before Steam’s end-of-support hit my current gaming rig Jan 1st. So I purchased this machine and I am surprised that I have had zero buyer’s remorse. The machine came with Win 11 home, the trial versions of MS Office 365, Asus Software and that was about it. Not really any bloatware. I have since only installed a different web browser, Steam, and the games that I purchased through Steam. No weirdness or glitchiness to anything. I will occasionally notice the fan speed increasing when the machine is rendering hard. But I can run all my games at the highest settings with no sense of stutter, tearing or visual artifacts. My old machine - which was awesome 7 years ago - had trouble rendering some scenes in Borderlands 3 smoothly and I had to turn down some of the graphics. The same scenes on this machine with all the settings turned to the max render instantly and over 105fps. ALL the games I play feel much better on this machine. Any embarrassment I originally had for not building a machine from scratch has been far outweighed by the performance of this PC. ... show more

  • Unacceptable random crashes that I cannot solve
Let me start this review by mentioning that since around 1987 I have always built my desktop computers myself, almost exclusively using ASUS motherboards for nearly 30 years. Why did I use ASUS almost exclusively for my own and other computers I built? Because at one time they were the best. Those days are gone, however... I have had two successful IT services companies and am no stranger to Windows. For whatever reason I broke tradition and spent far, far too much money on this computer just to not have to piece one together. Boy, was THAT a mistake that I will never make again!! What I have now is a computer that blackscreens randomly for no apparent reason, forcing me to do a hard power-off. The frequency of the blackscreens varies - it can be a minute or so from waking up from sleep, or it can happen after a couple of days of operation. There is more or less nothing in the Event Viewer to indicate what the problem(s) could be, but this did all start with the Microsoft Windows Update 23H2. It's interesting to note that I am *never* taxing the graphics card when the blackscreens happen, but rather they happen when I am just using Chrome or listening to Spotify with no 3D games running. I have updated BIOS. I have updated chipset drivers. I have updated various things through the idiotic Armoury Crate application. I have reinstalled Windows (from the ASUS recovery environment) numerous times. I have adjusted power settings, which despite me recreating them I continually get the message 'Your power plan information is not available'. I have scraped Nvidia drivers from my computer using DDU and rolled them back, hoping to find a fix. And yet, my computer still blackscreens. I can tell you that this was a $3600 mistake and I will never, ever, not even in a billion years, purchase or recommend an ASUS device of any kind. It's a great computer, WHEN IT WORKS, which turns out to be alarmingly infrequently. Shame on you, ASUS. You used to be great. Thanks for the (mostly) inoperative boat anchor! ... show more

  • Awesome!
Style: Core i7 | RTX 3060
Makes a blowing sound and the screen moves really fast! So far, nothing has gone wrong. Wish I could say more, but seems they need these reviews ASAP. Not a lot of machine time. If it ends up sucking, I will update the review to reflect that.
