I need to add remote to an old ceiling fan with lights having a tiny canopy space, and also enter some power estimate data so I can get a much better picture of my energy consumption too. This is the exact equipment I need. There are many fan remote kits but they all have a current limit. The more compact a receiver is, the less current it can handle. The internet yields 0 results to the fan model and all I know is this thing handles at most 3A total, while the receiver’s limit for the motor is 1A max. I used this clamp to clamp around the wall switch load wire so I can see how much peak current it used to start the fan rotation and how much stable current it uses. So I didn’t think if it at the time upon purchase. However I just used this thing to track a live wire in the wall, from an outlet I thought was straight up dead. The circuit started working out of no where. I used the clamp feature like a fox & hound Ethernet signal tracer. Where when near the wire, you pickup the solid beep, or two tone sound. I tried doing the same with the one that I have that does the same thing, but intended more for finding which breaker it’s on. I couldn’t use that other tool to follow it through the wall, floor, and outside like I did with this more sensitive multimeter. It does all the other things just as you expect. apprentice electrician work, I'm usually dealing with 12VDC-48VDC or 120VAC-480VAC, nothing too crazy but the work doesn't need to be precise. Usually checking to ensure completely dead components, voltage on devices, continuity, and general current readings just for ballpark load calcs. Overall this works just as well for me, as my Boss's $300+ meter works when we work in the field. Once I get to a higher level in my career I may upgrade, but this will have a special place as my first proper meter, and continues to get used daily. ... show more

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this. It's seems heavy, sturdy, and well made. It comes with a nice case as well. It also has some extra unexpected features like covers that screw off to make the contactors longer or shorter depending on your job. I'll never use all the sophisticated features, but it's definitely an upgrade from my previous one. I used it on a couple quick tests and it worked great. The no-contact feature worked well too. This meter is a life saver when it comes to an all around deal perspective. I cant afford to go out and buy the top dollar meter or replace the middle ground one every time some idiot runs over it (its me im some idiot), nor do i wish to use those $5 poopiles that cant even test continuity properly. So this thing being as inexpensive as it is, while being durable, having the settings i need, and the tick test feature i didnt even realise was a thing, thats just awesome!!! My main complaint is there is clearly a lack of thought in reguards to design, the flash light points directly into the clamp prongs, blocking most of the beam even if you were to hold them open the whole time you used the light, that and maybe the function buttons having poor labeling/layout. ... show more

I was looking for an inexpensive multimeter for the garage and I can't be happier with this meter. It's so versatile with the clamp ampmeter, non-contact testing capability and normal multimeter functions. It even came with a carrying case! How's that for a sub-$20 meter?

I bought this inrush clamp meter (Astroai CM600) and a KL**N CL445 inrush clamp meter at about the same time. I immediately tried both meters on a 4 ton heat pump. The astroai consistantly measured 110 amp inrush which is close to the 100Amp LRA on the nameplate. The KL**N would only display OL. Tried many times to measure the same inrush with the KL**N and could not. Measured steady state AC current successfully and both units were within 1/2 amp of each other. The Astroai does DC through the clamp, the KL**N does only AC. All other features were about the same. The Astroai was a little more than 1/2 the price of the KL**N. I returned the KL**N. Very happy with this meter. ... show more
