  • Some Good Some Bad
So first the good. The price. This is an inexpensive motherboard and it has a lot of what some other motherboards have that are far more expensive. It has 3 M.2 Slots and 8 SATA slots so you will never be short of being able to connect storage to it. The board also has built in DP and HDMI ports so if you dont have a dedicated video card, you can still connect modern monitors. The board doesn't come with WiFi built in, but it does have the option to install an M.2 wifi card onto it which is a nice feature if you are looking to add onboard WiFi or Bluetooth. The BIOS is easy to work with and navigate and includes the option to enable an XMP profile for RAM. I bought 3200 mhz RAM and out of the box it only reads 2666 on the MB, but with a few quick clicks in the BIOS, I was able to get to 3200. I haven't OC'd yet, but it looks like it is pretty strait forward to do in the BIOS. So my complaints, first, this only has a single USB 2.0 port. I was able to work around it (I needed two) by purchasing a Corsair Commander Pro, but you may need to consider purchasing the NZXT Internal USB Hub depending on what you are attaching. The board does have multiple USB 3.0 slots, however, one is unusable due to its location as a large GPU will interfere with plugging anything into it. I am not sure why they decided to put it where they did, but luckily there is another one at the bottom of the board I was able to use for my cases built in USB 3.0 cable. I am using a rather large GPU (ASUS ROG 2080 Super), so maybe a smaller GPU wouldn't interfere. However, if you are using a GPU (of any size), it will cover one of the M.2 slots. This probably isn't a big deal though if you install there first, but if you ever want to add in another M.2 device in that particular slot, you will need to remove the GPU first and install. My biggest complaint with the board though is the drivers. One of the first things I did after installing Windows was updating all the drivers. However, when updating the PCI drivers, the board would no longer POST. I had to completely reinstall Windows. I didn't realize this is what it was the first time, so after installing the drivers a second time, I had to wipe the drive and start over a second time. This may be due to the BIOS version its running and perhaps if I flashed a new BIOS, the drivers would be fine, but for now, I decided to just keep the PCIe drivers as is for now because they work, but be cautious of the drivers you install. If I were to buy another motherboard today, this would not be the one I would go with, but if you are looking for a cheaper board with a lot of nice features that works well out of the box, this may work for you. Edit: After I installed the chipset drivers from AMD's website, the PCIe driver issue was resolved. I raised the rating 1 star, but still think I would go with another board if I were going to build another machine. ... show more

  • Good motherboard but would not recommend
If you are trying to save money the motherboard is okay. I didn't need to save money but my friend put together the parts for my new computer. The only issue I have had with the motherboard is that the audio ports are messed up. External speakers make a popping sound every so often. Instead of going through the hassle of replacing it, I just put a sound blaster PCI card in it and run my speakers through that, and it works fine. Otherwise, easy to overclock if you are doing that. I noticed my 3600Mhz memory was running at 2600 by default so you have to probably manually change that in BIOS. Very easy. The ASUS tech support is garbage. ... show more

  • Read the motherboard requirements before using.
I built a new system from scratch, only reusing the CPU as I didn't think I needed more processing power. After installing everything, it wouldn't post. I took everything out and painstakingly reinstalled 1 item at a time to determine what the issue was. It still wouldn't post. I finally looked up the specs and my old Ryzen 1800x was not supported. Purchased a new Ryzen 5600G, reassembled everything and everything ran flawlessly afterwards. Windows 10 installed smoothly and I was up and running in 10 minutes. Good board, no conflicts. Had I not insisted on reusing the old CPU, I would have been done in about 3 hours from installation to finalizing OS installation. Not considering troubleshooting time, the next item that took the most time was installing and wiring up the RGB case fans. ... show more

  • MUST flash BIOS to current version for GFX cards using lower PCIE slot. NOCTUA-NHU14S Inference
NOCTUA NH-U14S INTERFERES WITH TOP PCIE SLOT, BOTTOM PCIE DOES NOT WORK FOR GFX W/O BIOS FLASH. NH-U14S WORKS COMFORTABLY USING BOTTOM PCIE AFTER FLASH The Noctua-NHU14S is beefy. So beefy it blocked off the top PCIE slot of the board from accepting an RTX2060Super mini. So, I thought what ever plug it into the bottom PCIE slot instead. After building, no display... but computer posted (judging by lights on MOBO). Wonderful, have to take off the hunk of aluminum now to try 1st PCIE slot. 1st slot worked with out-of-the-box BIOS on top PCIE slot, but I had to install the stock cooler to get a USB key to flash the BIOS. After BIOS flash, I was able to reinstall my gfx card in lower slot, and the Noctua cooler comfortably. F6 at boot is default key, then TAB then enter, for 'instant flash' of the BIOS if anyone needs it, case they don't get a display either. I wouldn't have had to reinstall all the sinks if I knew the proper combination. With 4x NF-F12s and the NH-U14S, my Ryzen 5 stays at around 32'C idle and 75'C during stress test for 10minutes using fractal meshify case. ... show more

  • Worst User Manual I have ever seen!
MoBo is rock solid and a high performer. HOWEVER: If you haven't built a few dozen PC's over time, stay far away from this unit! Could be the absolute worst MoBo manual I have ever had the displeasure of working with! Internal contradictions. Illustration of the MoBo is a full 28 pages before the the description of the components! Constant page flipping, back & forth! Bothersome is a polite way to describe working with this manual. In the end (which is where this manual belongs, if you get my meaning!?), it can be used to set up the MoBo, but be prepared to lose some sleep! No errors, just horrible organization and layout. Again, if you know your way around a MoBo and are confident in your "make it up as you go along" skills, then this is a great MoBo. If you're a rook, stay far, far away! ... show more
