I am a total beginner and I bought this guitar so I could learn with my 6 year old son. The Guitar sounds great after I restrung it with Ernie Ball Earthwood Extra Light (10-50) Acoustic Guitar Strings (P02150) ($7) The strings the guitar comes with are fine and there are a full extra set included with the guitar. I just wanted some clearer tones so I got the Earthwood set. I was able to restring the guitar in under 45 minutes and I'd never restrung an instrument in my life. This thing is kind of big. It's a great fit for me and I'm 6' tall. But my wife who's 5'2" has a hard time reaching over the end of the guitar and getting her hand all the way down to the sound hole. There was no damage when it arrived and the finish looks great. There was however a desiccant packet inside the body of the guitar so you have to fish that out like a lost pick or it will rattle. ... show more

Honestly my mind is blown. I absolutely love this guitar! It has great tone and a deep sound to it, a few people have already mistaken it to be a Martin, and when I tell them how much I paid for it their jaws drop. Build quality is well above average for the price, frets have zero buzz, no dead frets, no cracks or inconsistencies in the woodwork, no scratches or runs in the finish, the guitar itself is beautiful and the inlay around the soundhole is remarkable. Shipping was faster than anticipated, arriving 3-4 days before the estimated delivery date. Love the natural color on it as well, I prefer a satin neck but the gloss looks amazing too. The neck is also pretty thick, I have big hands and have no issues but if you have smaller hands and have a tough time moving around a neck that’s a little thicker you may have issues, that is my one stipulation. Otherwise, this guitar is amazing. I also ordered a ukulele and another “beginner” type classical guitar from Ashthorpe, they are quickly becoming my favorite brand of instruments. Will definitely continue to order instruments from them! Get one if you’re on the fence, this guitar is truly stunning and an absolute must have for the guitar enthusiast or beginner! ... show more

Not one dislike...this guitar is perfect for any player from beginner to pro...best guitar I played in a few years ...Ashthorpe full size acoustic electric guitar is built as well as the higher end guitars...infact it sounds and plays like a higher end guitar..the sound is incredible and after a few proper played chords you sound and feel like your playing with a real professional instrument..the electric accoutrements are a bonus and work and sound amazing. Anyone who purchases this guitar I promise you every word of my review will ring true..if I had money I would buy one for everyone...that's how impressed I am with this instrument..guitar stays in tune tuning pegs are enclosed gears heavy duty nothing on this guitar has a flimsy cheap feel to it...comes with woth guitar amp chord extra set of strings good quality strings..so picks heavy medium and fine guitar strap and a gig bag...all the extras that ashthorpe gives you makes you feel like you are stealing from them.. feel like you should send them more money..lol..genuinely happy with this purchase and would love to do a video review with next Ashthorpe I buy..my goal is to buy and review all there guitars..Remember before you go out and drop 1 or 2k on a Taylor or ovation etc..promise you a few chords and you will be leaving a review like mine ...enjoy your new guitar more then worth the price they are asking ... show more

I purchased the guitar and received it in about a week. The guitar was shipped in a box, the bag was bunched up along with the other components. I did need to tune the strings before using it (my tuner read it was over 100 ticks off for each note according to the tuner). The Sunburst version looks really nice online. Brass strings. Sadly there is a major issue. The product arrived damaged. The neck of the guitar has a sizeable dent in it around the third fret. There are also scratches along the front that can only be seen in dim lighting. I tried the second time to play it, and the low E string rattles like a loose furnace pipe. It sounds offal. I cannot play it. The pegs that held in the strings on the side (the bridge) also started coming out as I was playing it. Bad construction. Someone must not have used the right glue or something. I had to physically push them back in after one of them was dangling. I officially cannot play with Capo 3 either. ... show more

The guitar has a nice looking front and can be played but needs a set up done, especially if a beginner is going to learn on it. I filed the fret end better and lowered the string height (action). It sounds good and strings on it are usable. The 4 band EQ is fine, nothing high end or fancy. Since back and sides are black it shows where they buffed it at the factory. Not the worst job but it is hard to polish black finishes. For the price the complete bundle or package is okay. ... show more
