  • Easy and clean!
Size: 36" x 72" Color: Textured
I used this on a window in a small laundry room. We needed privacy, but didn't want to lose light. Blinds were always closed (i.e.; cutting off light) and dusty. I like the clean modern feel this provides with the frosted glass look and no need for additional window dressing. It is less translucent that I anticipated. We can see green blurs, and there's a dark blur where the car is parked just 8 ft outside the window, but I can't make out any details. Of course, ditto for looking into the house, which was the priority. It was *easy* to apply, thanks to tips in previous reviews! Wash the window well. Cut the piece slightly larger than the window. Wet the glass well using a spray bottle of water with a drop of soap. Use tape to help separate the paper backing from the film. I didn't feel it was in any danger of ripping or sticking to it's self. It's much easier to deal with than contact paper and very forgiving. I used 2 of the factory edges on the window, so I wouldn't have to cut those. I didn't have any problems smoothing out the bubbles with the little squeegee supplied. At one point, I realized there was a flake of dirt under the film, and it was no problem to lift the film and dab the offending dirt speck out. After smoothing, I used a putty knife and box cutter to trim the other two edges of window.. and then realized I needed a fresh blade. Uh oh. It took me 10 minutes or so to find the blades and when I returned the window had dried and the film wasn't sticking on that side. Uh OH. But, no problem! I just peeled it back and resprayed the glass without any issues at all. For the second part of the double hung window. I unrolled the film and used the 'end', so I had another 2 factory edges to work with. It slides around easily on the wet glass and sticks well when smoothed and dried. It feels like it'll hold up ok to being wiped down, but of course, isn't going to last forever. I think, I'm going to appreciate being able to open the window without fussing with blinds or curtains. Excellent option for privacy, without damaging the window... no need to even drill holes for a rod or blinds! Edited 9/14: It's been over a year and still looks like day one. Edited 11/2015: Still looks good after two years! It's been easy to wipe down and withstood northern OH temperature extremes. Edited 8/2017 STILL looks GOOD! Still holding. Worth the money. ... show more

  • Very good product - but know the limitations
Size: 36" x 72" Color: Textured
This vinyl film arrived well packaged and the installation went smoothly. I definitely recommend this product for certain applications, but the material has its limitations. I've installed my own window film on my vehicles for 20-years and on every window of my home, so I'm very familiar with the ins and outs of window film. This material is a heavy vinyl product, it is not the self adhesive, crinkly, acetate film that is normally used on windows. I do not consider this material to be a permanent solution since it sticks by static cling. However - it is a good static cling, don't let that scare you off. We used it to further obscure a patterned interior glass pantry door to conceal cereal boxes and it really looks nice. It can be peeled off the glass easily, which has advantages and disadvantages. Pros - Fast installation - install on a full length door took me 30-minutes Totally bubble-free - easy to achieve if you do it correctly per the included instructions. Easy removal if you get tired of it - find a corner and peel it. Beginner Friendly - this is so much easier to install than the crisply acetate, and it will not crinkle/deform as easily. Heavy backer paper - protective backer makes cutting this product easy, and the leftover material will make great back-to-school book-covers for my kid's textbooks for the next 10-years. Cons - Static cling has limits - since it is easy to remove, would expect it may begin to peel in high humidity or high contact areas. Definitely would not put this in a shower, as some might be tempted to try. Vinyl - has that slightly funky smell, and I won't be surprised if it fades from the pure color Not Permanent - static adhesion, I would not rely on this to stay put for decades, and would not install it in a hard to reach high window. Cleaning - it's a rough exposed surface, so marks might be hard to remove. Heavy backer paper - the pro outweighs the con, but the paper is very heavy - plan on using an extra set of hands to peel it. ... show more
