  • A cheaper way to privacy
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
I have a window in my office that you could see both in and out. I needed something to block the view going both ways but still allowed some light in. Installation was surprisingly easy. I did need a small squeegee to help smooth it flat on the glass but it did the job. I cut the film with scissors without any issues. Took about 15 minutes to install. Looks great, no bubbles and still allows some light in. ... show more

  • A little light and a lot of privacy
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 24" x 36"
Where I live people tend to walk by my window at just random times. Kinda sucks when you just want to feel like you have privacy. I tended to keep my curtain closed all the time but that’s just gloomy after a while. Decided I’d give these a shot. I was looking for something that’s private but still gives a little light. I purchased several of these and can say they worked perfectly and were easy to install. It lets in just enough light that it gives the room a nice feel but at the same time nobody can see in. As for installation, you really just have to read and follow the instructions. It comes with a squeegee and instructions so all you need to provide is soap and water or, do what I did, and use glass cleaner and a spray bottle. I simple measured out what I needed, cut the film, cleaned my windows, applied excess glass cleaner, and sprayed a liberal amount of water from a spray bottle to both the window and film (on the side I was applying to the window). I applied the film from left to right and as I went I used the squeegee to apply the film. After u get it on where you want you can squeegee out the bubbles. It important you have plenty of water on there when you start because that’s what helps you to move the film around to get it adjusted as you go and allows you to squeegee out those bubbles in the end. Another thing to note is when you cut these you want to cut them slightly smaller then the window your applying them to, to leave a slight border. It's not going to fit tightly to the edges and if you have windows like I do there is old bits of paint and silicone along the edges so you need that border. Don't worry it will look good in the end, Just read the instructions all the way through as it explains this. Just take your time and measure everything out. If you haven’t heard it a million times I will say it anyhow, measure twice and cut once. May be stupid but it’s very true. Also if you do need to make adjustments do not be afraid to take it off. These are more like window cling when you apply them not stickers. Pros: - Lets in lite but no random onlookers. - The etched glass film has a nice look to it with my decor. Cons: - None, love these things so far. ... show more

  • Privacy and Light, Great Product!
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
The application is easy, simply wet down the window with soapy water and use the enclosed squeegee to smooth out the bubbles. The first roll was a bit tricky, it's a bit like hanging wall paper, lining it up evenly, hurrying to smooth it out. I had to re-adjust it a few times to get it right, but that's whats great about this film. It's cling film, no adhesive, so you can pull it back and reapply it as much as you need. My first application still has some bubbles in it. They are not really noticeable unless you stare at the glass and look for them. With my second application I learned that I needed to really press hard with the squeegee in order to get the bubbles out. I really had to put my weight into it to put the need pressure to smooth out the bubbles. I will assume a man will probably have an easier time than a small woman like me. The other thing I noticed about this film is that any defects or dirt on the glass will show through. Around the edges of my door there was calk on the glass and it cast a shadow on the film. I was surprised at how much privacy it really provides. I went outside both day and night with the inside lights on. I stood both right at the door and in the yard. When I was next to the door, I could only make out shapes of objects that were within 2 or 3 feet of the door. I could only really see the bright colors of the rug on the floor right next to the door. Any thing farther than 3 feet from the window couldn't really be seen, other than as shadows. I could see light, but not the lamp. During the day filtered sunny light still floods the room. It's not as bright as it would be with no film, but its way better than having curtains. Looking out during the day I can see shapes and shadows. The best photo representations is the picture with the split window looking out. I really like the removable aspect of this film. When summer arrives and all the greenery grows back and provides a bit of privacy from the neighbors I may remove one sheet of film from a section of the sliding door. This film would be great for renters or someone selling a house who wants to dress things up or add privacy, but not permanently. ... show more

  • Works as expected but tricky install
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
Our master bath had a large horizontal window that we needed to cover for privacy, but we also wanted to let light in. This window film provided a good solution. You cannot make out any details at all with this installed. You can still make out shapes and figures a few feet from the glass, but that is usually the case unless you get a completely opaque film. This allowed natural sunlight to light up the room during the daytime and some ambient lighting from street lights at night. The package also came with a squeegee to help with the install. I have bought the same item at a local store, but did not include the squeegee. The film was easy to cut. Make sure your blade is sharp as it does take a little effort to cut through. Now to the negatives. I watched a bunch of tutorial videos on installing these types of films, and they all seemed straightforward. On my attempt, the film quickly adhered to the window. The problems came when it was time to squeegee away the bubbles. Despite liberally lubricating the film, white-colored creases would appear every few times I wiped it with the squeegee. It looks ugly if you leave the creases there. I solved it by peeling the film off and rubbing the spot from the adhesive side, then reapplying until all creases were gone. This made the installation a little frustrating, which is why I deducted a star. All in all, this is a good product. The best I could find from my research. I also ended up using it in a ground floor bathroom that had window blinds. It looks much better than the blinds. ... show more

  • Softens light without darkening room! Love it
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
Nice and thick material, fairly easy to install. I bought the “etched glass” film to soften the harsh direct sunlight light that came through two windows about 7 feet up. That’s exactly what it did so I’m very happy about that! The windows I used this on are half circle shaped so I used printer paper to create a template by tracing the inside of the window over the paper, cutting it out, and tracing that on to the paper backing of the window film. This worked very well! I left a tiny gap as advised in the instructions included. Then I used water with a few drops of Dawn dish soap in a fine mist spray bottle to saturate the window. I peeled the backing and immediately stuck it to the wet window. It slides around very nicely until you squeegee it in place so it was easy to line it up. One thing I learned with my first attempt was to hold the film in place on one end and drag the squeegee in the opposite direction to secure, as it moved slightly and hit the window trim. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted!
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
I wanted to somehow gain some privacy from our front door’s window, but I didn’t want to block out light or take away from the pretty design in the glass, so I decided to go with an opaque window film. I found this particular film at a home improvement store and it was just what I wanted, but it was pretty pricey. So I checked on Amazon and found the exact same thing here (same brand and everything) for significantly less. I liked this film, because it looked like it would accomplish exactly what I wanted: be opaque enough to add privacy without blocking out light or obstructing the view of the design in the glass. My husband installed it and it was pretty easy to do. The only difficulty was cutting the film to the curvature of the glass, but he just used a large piece of paper and a pencil to make a stencil of the curve and cut the film with a razor knife using the stencil. It adhered to the window well, he just used a little hand soap and water in a spray bottle, and it was easy to get the bubbles out with a squeegee. As far as privacy is concerned, if you put your face right up to the window and try to look in, you can only see if there’s movement, but that’s it. You can’t see anything clearly through it (which is what I wanted). And like I said, it still lets plenty of light in and didn’t cover the design in the glass at all. Shipping was fast and it was packaged well enough. I definitely recommend it. *I added photos, one from inside and one from outside. ... show more

  • Beautiful frosted film, privacy and sunlight, quite easy to apply
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 24" x 36"
Super easy to apply, and quite a bit thicker (and less expensive) than a film I purchased previously from a window store. The thickness of this film is helpful because it will not bend, fold or crease during the application process. Put this up on my front entry door which has a clear glass top half. I wanted something that provided privacy for security reasons, while still allowing light to filter through into my entry hallway. This is the perfect solution, looks very classy and very much like real frosted glass. Just a personal preference, but I think it's a nicer application to cut the film just a tad smaller than the pane of glass. I cut this just 1/4" smaller on all sides and I think that thin "frame" of clear glass gives it a very clean look. This also makes it easier to maneuver and push air bubbles out. I suggest being very liberal with spraying the soapy water on the window, as the wetter the surface, the easier it is to position and squeegee out the bubbles. My biggest tip is that it is much easier to push out large bubbles than it is to push out small ones. Given this fact, use the squeegee (or credit card) to push bubbles into each other. When one bubble touches another, they mesh and become one larger bubble. Do this before removing any of the bubbles. When all you are left with are large bubbles, that's when you push them to the edge and remove them completely. They will all vanish and all you will be left with will be a bubble-free frosted glass window. Also, if you need to remove the film to either re-cut to size or re-wet the glass, it is easily done if you are careful about not bending a corner during removal. ... show more

  • Excellent product - very easy to apply
Pattern Name: Etched Glass Size: 36" x 72"
I just finished applying Artscape glass film on my bathroom windows. The windows were not frosted and we live in a city where the neighboring houses are only about 10 feet apart. Needless to say, we had no privacy. Ordering new windows and installation would be very costly. However, I'm a perfectionist and didn't want the windows to look unprofessional and junky - you know like someone who doesn't know their a** from a hole in the ground frosted the windows. (And trust me I've worked with my share of contractors - you'd be surprised at the work of some 'professionals'!) So I thought I would try this film as an alternative before I spent hundreds of dollars to replace my windows. I can't believe how nice my windows look! This window film is so easy to apply. The one thing you need to know is that you should pay careful attention to cutting the film firmly and press down firmly on the tool you choose as your straight edge. This will ensure your utility knife doesn't slip as you're cutting. Otherwise your edges will look frayed. By the fourth window pane, I learned a trick - cut one of the sides wider than the window. When you put the film to the window, place 3 sides of the film where you want it to lay on window, then take the oversized edge and press film firmly in crease of window. Take your utility knife and press it against the window frame and slide knife firmly down the crease to cut the last side. This will give you a clean straight edge. If you have trouble (as I did) cutting a clean edge while the film is laid out on floor, you may want to try this trick - but be careful not to cut your window glass! Anyhow, this product is really great and saved me hundreds of dollars in replaced windows. It looks very professional. ... show more
