Wanted to mess around with small custom markings, and this machine is a super approachable entry point. The machine arrives calibrated and practically ready out of the box, making software connection over USB or the mobile app painless for quick text or icon burns. It handles light surface marking on leather, wood, and soft materials smoothly without a steep learning curve. It works fine for small, basic projects, but the optical output is strictly limited to surface engraving and paper thin cuts. Trying to burn into darker or denser woods takes slow speeds, and cutting through actual sheet material isn't really practical. Good budget pick if you strictly want a simple desktop marker for small gifts, but anything beyond light surface work will require more diode power.

This is a well built machine and right out of the gate almost everything is fully assembled. It's made out of aluminum for the most part. All you really have to do is mount the laser and download the software and you're engraving in minutes. This has a little bit larger of a working area than the miniature one I used in the past, but it's definitely meant for more specialized projects. It does very well with fine detail but struggles a bit with darker/deeper cuts. This is definitely meant for more precision engraving than full on wood burning art. It's not very versatile, more of a one trick pony. Overall this is a well built machine, but you need to have the software to run it. Laser engraving software is not cheap, and you have to figure in at least $100 more for software if you want to be able to truly utilize this. It's a one time purchase so it's not a huge deal, but I wish someone would have told me the software would cost more than the laser itself.

I ordered this to have a smaller laser engraver for quick projects, and it's been a great machine for learning and experimenting. If you're just getting into laser engraving, this is a nice balance between capability and ease of use without feeling overwhelming. Assembly didn't take long, and I was engraving my first test pieces shortly after getting everything set up. The WiFi connectivity is convenient since it gives you more flexibility in where you place the machine, and the software was easy enough to navigate after spending a little time with it. I've engraved wood, leather, painted metal business cards, cardboard, and other common crafting materials with good results. Once the focus and settings are dialed in, the engravings come out crisp and surprisingly detailed. Like any laser engraver, you'll want to run a few test patterns on new materials to find the ideal speed and power settings, but that's part of the learning process with any machine. The working area is a good size for coasters, signs, ornaments, leather patches, personalized gifts, and many small business products. While a 3W laser isn't designed for heavy cutting, it handles engraving very well and can cut thinner materials with multiple passes when appropriate. One thing I appreciate is how compact the machine is. It doesn't take over the workbench, making it easy to store when it's not in use. Build quality also feels solid for a machine in this price range. Overall, this is an excellent entry-level laser engraver for hobbyists, makers, and anyone interested in starting a small engraving business. It's easy to learn, produces impressive detail, and offers plenty of room to grow your skills before moving up to a more powerful machine.
