This rug is definitely as soft as people say it is and overall is very pretty! It is very thin though, so if you are putting it over hard flooring I highly recommend getting some kind of rug pad for underneath. I accidentally spilled some water on it and the water droplets just sat on the rug surface. It was super easy to clean it up and it wasn't even wet after. So that has been nice for little spills! My only compaint (and maybe it's just me?) is that NONE of my vacuum settings work with this rug - it just sucks the rug up into the vacuum. I've tried all the vacuum settings (from barefloor, up to super long shaggy carpet) and I tried with and without the rug pad - nothing works. So I have to disconnect the hose and use a handheld attachment to vacuum it, which is a little annoying but not the end of the world.

8 MONTH UPDATE: I couldn’t take it any longer. The wrinkling and bunching under furniture and not being able to vacuum made me replace this with a thicker rug that stays put. I really wanted to like this but it was more hassle than the pro of being able to machine wash. I’d rather just get out the $70 carpet steam cleaner every few months. INITIAL REVIEW: I have pets and hardwood floors. Replaced a thicker shag rug with this and there are clearly trade offs for being able to machine wash this at home. This is not a “comfy get down on the floor and play” kind of rug, however, the shag was a pain to keep clean. If you’re looking for a machine washable, decent looking, lightweight rug - this is it. Pros: soft, looks good, decent price, really is machine washable in a regular washing machine with agitator, roomba vacuums it well. Cons: thin, slides around, wrinkles, shark vacuum sucks up the rug even on low suction. Long drying time in a dryer.

The rug does come folded and because of that, it does have many creases. It has finally begun to settle, it’s been about a month from purchase. It doesn’t move too much because of the rubber back and I do have it under furniture. Though it has a washed out look, the colors are still vivid. The texture is quite soft, which I love. As noted in some of the other comments, do not use a heavy vacuum on it! Since it is so light and flat it can easily get sucked up. I have a light weight vacuum works perfectly!
