I like to add pothos plants to my aquarium to help clean the water, but I have koi. I needed a pot that would protect the plant from being eaten by my fish and found these. These two sturdy clear plastic pots are the perfect size for a few plant cuttings. The hanger includes a plastic screw which reduces the size of the hanger from 0.8in and down. Be careful of tanks that have large rims – I was unable to fit it over my personal tank at home, but it fit perfectly on the rimless tanks at school and the thin rimed one. The plastic is suitable for saltwater or freshwater tanks. Although this can be used by simply placing multiple cuttings inside, I suggest adding some expanded clay pebbles to hold the cuttings. I’ve found this helps to secure them and the pebbles are large enough not to fall out of the slats. It also helps create a healthy environment for beneficial bacteria! I highly suggest these for anyone that wants a natural component for cleaning aquarium water yet does not want to add live plants to the main tank. In a matter of minutes, you can have this setup and improve your water quality. In my case, this helped me quickly reduce the nitrites and nitrates over the course of a week, while successfully protecting the plants from being nibbled on. In summary, this is a great deal on a simple product that can have a huge impact on your aquarium water quality.

The media could not be loaded. They came in great condition and look great, I'm planning to get some pothos to put them in the holders. They are adjustable and look great quality!

I love these, I had actually been meaning to get something like this for a while. I usually toss the ends of my pothos into my fish tank when I trim them, initially I told myself it would be easy enough to DIY something for this purpose, but nothing ever worked all that great and my plants ended up falling out or into the tank. Either way they usually died. These little baskets are awesome, they attach securely to the sides of my rimless tanks and they're light enough that I'm not worried about them putting too much pressure on the side. I made the mistake of attaching a light to a rimless 6 gallon once and when I just barely tightened the screw the tank cracked. A 6 gallon tank looks small but its an absolute disaster when its spilling out onto your floor. Thank god I hadn't stocked the tank yet. All that to say I'm extra paranoid about what attach directly to my rimless tanks now and this didn't raise any red flags. These don't fit over the frame on my 75 gallon tanks which is kind of a bummer, but overall these are great for attaching plants!

This aquarium plant holder has been an excellent way to add some greenery to my tank. The hook and adjustable screw securely attach it to the top edge of my aquarium, and it fits perfectly on glass up to 0.8 inches thick. I've found it holds my plants firmly in place, and the multiple holes in the base and edges allow for good water circulation, which has been great for their growth. I've got some very nicely rooted pothos after only a few days in the little bins! The transparent ABS material is a nice touch; it's durable and doesn't detract from the look of the tank. The pot is a good size for growing various plants like trailing vines and aquatic ferns. It's an easy-to-install and effective tool for aquascaping, and it would make a thoughtful gift for any fish tank lover.

These plastic aquarium plant holders were easy to clip on and set up, and they are convenient to take care of my plants. I like the look of having plants coming out of the top of my tank. I just put a little cutting of my pothos in this one but I have ideas for other plants to try as well. I did not need to trim the plastic lip of my tank for these to fit. They just slid right on and clamped on. I added a bit of filter media to mine to keep baby guppies out because I need to be able to move these without worrying about fish being in it, but there’s a lot you could do here for media. I have Flourite I intend to pot my plant in when I settle on exactly what I want in here permanently.

I was super excited about these. I have 12 aquariums, and I love using emersed plants like pothos, Easter lily, and monstera on the backs of my tanks to help with nitrate removal. These holders are made of sturdy, high-quality plastic and I really like that they’re clear. There’s another brand that makes a similar product, but it’s black—these look much cleaner and more natural in the water. The slats on the sides are just wide enough for roots to grow through without issue, but not so wide that plants fall out. You can add gravel, lava rock, or a hydroponic medium with no problem, or just insert the plant directly into the holder. The only real downside is the mounting design. These come with a hammer-style clamp meant for rimless tanks. The vast majority of hobbyists, myself included, run rimmed tanks—10 of my 12 are rimmed. Aqueon and Marineland tanks are extremely common, especially with the $1/gallon or half-off sales at big box stores. Because these don’t fit rimmed tanks properly, I had to wedge them between the tank lid and the rim, which works okay for now, but becomes a hassle if I need to remove the lid. That limitation is why I knocked off one star. If you’re running a rimless setup and want to grow emersed plants, these are absolutely worth the money. But if you’re like most hobbyists with rimmed tanks, just know you’ll need to improvise the mounting.
