I love this rice cooker! I have had it for over 4 years now and we use it several times a week, and it's still going strong! It's simple, it's straight forward, it works! Cook, warm and off/unplug are your option and it's all you need for perfectly cooked rice! It cooks up any kind of rice, including brown rice (which is what we do mostly) just right! It can spit a little bit from the steam vent on top of the lid if I put too much brown rice in it, but opening the lid a couple of times during boiling time or not overfilling it in the first place (which is entirely my fault) takes care of that problem! It has never burnt my rice and keeps it warm without drying it out or burning! On occasion we forgot to turn the warming rice off and only realized many hours later and the rice was still perfectly fine, with only the slightest hint of a crust at the bottom! It always seems to turn off just at the right time, whatever kind of rice it's cooking! The rice container washes up easily and has a durable non-stick surface and has even made it through the top shelf of the dishwasher a few times. Not that it needed the dishwasher, kids and DH just ended up putting it in there with the rest of the stuff and it hasn't caused any problems at all! Love it. This is the third one I've ordered from Aroma and I can't say enough about it. It's simple to use and we usually cook in it several times a week. A lot of the time I'll double the amount and freeze the leftover rice in individual serving bowls. When ready to use, I take off the lid, put a damp paper towel over the bowl, nuke it for 40 seconds and voila...perfect rice. Yum! I used my first Aroma rice cooker (an older edition of this model) for about 3 years, then gave it away to a friend because I wanted a steamer/ricer instead (which I returned – it wasn’t an Aroma brand). Meanwhile I bought another Aroma rice cooker for a friend and even though she is not a hugger, I got huge hugs over and over from her after she and her family tried it out. She was ecstatic. Not only that, but her older (teenage) kids don't cook at all and now they think it's fun to use this cooker, so they're always cooking rice and coming up with ideas for seasoning, different ingredients, etc and…they clean up after themselves (OMG). It's that great. One note to future customers: There is a flat, round plate-like piece of aluminum that attaches inside to the top of the cooker. Be sure to have that plate attached correctly...the small plastic circle faces out (towards you) and the small, plastic cup faces inwards. If you don't have it facing the right way, it can keep your lid from snapping closed and maybe (I think) it can prevent you from turning the cooker on. Another benefit of this cooker is that I can measure amounts of rice and water according to the instructions on the box or bag I purchased. I don't have to worry about following the instructions in the manual for the cooker. That simplicity is another aspect that I like. It makes this ricer a great worry-free product.     • Invest in a better brand
After two years, the first Aroma rice cooker I bought stopped working. But I liked how easy it was to use, so I replaced it with exactly the same model. The second one lasted only two uses before it stopped working. I initiated the warranty claim with the company, but after two weeks of no response, I decided to return it to Amazon and purchase a different brand. Today, after almost a month, I received a response from Aroma asking for more information (which could've been included in the original claim) and stating that it would be another week before a resolution. I don't think it is acceptable to leave a customer without a frequently used appliance for so long, especially when the appliance was brand new when it stopped working. ... show more
