    • You get what you pay for
I got this rice cooker right after college. It's cheap but gets the job done. It worked fine for 3 years and has just died this week. Things that bothered me about this one -- 1. The "non-stick" liner sucks. It was non-stick for about a month, and after that I had to soak it and wash it by hand pretty much every time I used it. It is a PITA to clean. In better rice cookers, the inner pot is truly non stick and wipes clean right after you use it. 2. There is no on-off switch. You can set it to either "Cook" or "Warm". Related to the previous point, if you set it to "warm" with some rice in the cooker then the rice burns and sticks to the inner pot in no time. I found myself having to unplug it as soon as the rice was done. This is a clumsy and poorly thought out experience. I will be upgrading to a Zojirushi. I eat a lot of rice these little daily frustrations add up over time. In my opinion, if you are buying an appliance that you will use often then you might as well pay for quality. If you can't afford the Zoj, I would still take this rice cooker over not having one at all. Just be aware of what you're (not) paying for! ... show more

    • Some difficult features
First, my box didn't include instructions, but I was able to find online. Second, you have to use their "cup" to measure - it is actually 3/4 c, not a full cup. Third and most frustrating for me, the lines to tell how much water to put in are almost impossible to read. If you tip so the light shows them better, you can't accurately add the water. So I thought I was getting the full size rice maker ;like I have been using for many years now made by same compony. But no this is a small version. And I have to blame myself for falling for this ruse. Now I didn't mark it down because it's a bad product because it's not. But marketing is misleading. The 8 cups of rice are actually more like 6 because they decided to make 3/4 of a cup be 1 cup in their description. That is misleading making me think it was the same size as the first one I bought years ago. And truly I only need this size of a rice maker now but it should have been my choice not marketing choice. I almost sent it back but in the end thought it would suit me even batter than the big one. But I just want to share this complaint for other people who might do what I did. ... show more
