    • A very good solution to removing odor and moisture, but not crazy about the use of plastic
For years, the "solution" to odors and moisture in a room has been a heavily perfumed air freshener that just only covers up the odor, and a dehumidifier that's costly to run and clean. This is a fantastic solution to both, especially in damp, musky areas like mud rooms and basements. It's a rather large (7x5") plastic tub. There's a plastic bag includes the ingredients. The box says "three simple ingredients: activated charcoal, baking soda, and mineral salts", but the full list of ingredients has the full list: calcium chloride, water, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, carbon, magnesium oxide, and fragrance (which is a fresh, linen-like smell). You open the plastic bag, dump the contents into the plastic container, and put a plastic insert into the container that keeps the raw materials confined to the bottom half, with some vents for air circulation. The first thing I'll say about it is, it works. It did cut down noticeably on musky odors in our closets. On the box it says it's great for kitchens, mud rooms, and laundry rooms. I would have thought it'd be useful in a bathroom too, but the humidity from the shower would probably render it useless quickly. They say that it's effective for up to 65 days, and then to just throw everything in the trash and replace it with another unit. That's the part that disappointed me. I hate throwing plastic into the waste stream, and it would have made much more sense for them to sell the container separate from the contents (which do appear to be natural and biodegradable). That's the reason for docking one star. But overall, the quality is very good and fitting for a brand like Arm & Hammer. ... show more

This is a fine set of damp absorbers. My biggest problem is that they individual shrink was not fully sealed on each of these up on arrival, so they were kinda messy up on arrival. We like to use them in our camper during off seasons or if we have to let her sit without use for a few weeks at a time during the season, and they do their job.
