Description

From the Manufacturer Arlington DBVS1W-1 Electrical Box with Weatherproof Cover for Vinyl-Siding, New-Construction, White, Vertical/1-Gang Low Profile IN BOX for New Vinyl Siding Construction. One-piece, recesses electrical box with weatherproof-in-use cover for new siding applications. Horizontal Non- metallic cover and base. Accepts most single gang wiring devices and uses standard indoor wall plates or a GFCI cover plate. UV rated plastic for long outdoor life. The IN BOX one-piece assembly replaces the installation of an electrical box, siding block, and bubble cover assembly. Installs in the wall, so less of it shows outside. The outer flange covers cut ends of siding. Cover is removable for easier device installation and no gaskets are required. Bug plugs ship installed in the box to seal unused cord hole openings. Box is textured and paintable, UV rated for long outdoor life. Installation instructions: 1. cut a 3-14-Inch x 5-1/2-Inch hole in substrate. pull wiring. 2. Install NM cable connector and wire, attach IN BOX to substrate. 3. Install siding, inserting the cut ends of the siding under the outer flange of the IN BOX. 4. Install wiring device(outlet or switch) per manufacturer's instructions, local and national electrical codes. 5. Accepts most single gang wiring devices and uses a standard indoor wall plate. Looks amazing. I went to buy the normal ones in the store and hated how bulky and awkward they looked. They would have stuck out so far and just looked terrible. Went on Amazon in the store and found these. The price is actually better than all of the stuff you'd have to buy in the store because you save buying the mounting plate and the box and just buy this. The outlet isn't supplied but it does come with 2 faceplates. Installed with new siding and it looks good. Note, you will have to cut into the sheathing or whatever you have under your siding so it fits because they are actually bulky, it's just hidden. Can't comment on the durability because I just installed them but they seem like they're well made. I'll try to update my review if they make me mad in any way. ... show more

This is quite the box for exterior plugs. Was a bit of a pain to install as this was a new work box and I was replacing and existing box over vinyl siding but that is expected. Will see how long the clear plastic cover lasts as that is usually the part that degrades fastest, but will depend on the UV inhibitors in the plastic. Only real complaint is that the actual electrical box part is very shallow so very little room for wire. Despite that would still recommend as it looks great and should be very water (and even vapor) tight. ... show more

Used when I residing my workshop, The old box cover looked beat up and I wanted something that would seal better than the standard outdoor box cover. This unit actually REPLACES the electrical box. Keep this in mind when using it to replace an old one. Quickly sanded it, used high bonding primer and painted it to match the siding. Looks very nice, The lid seals better than the other's I have used. Only complaint is the tiny black notch covers that fit on the bottom edge. You pull them off when using the outlet for the cord to drop through. They have a tendency to pop out. Should be tighter or have a small tether on them. ... show more

This is the best outdoor outlet box I have ever used. No longer do you need the big bubble protruding from your home! This is easy to install and unlike many other competitors comes in both vertical and horizontal models to suit any purpose. The only negative I have found is the little bug stopper clips can pop out and are easy to loose (I already lost one that popped out during install hahaha that's on me for not popping them out until I was done) They are not very tight though all the same and do slide out very easily all the same. Still a solid product and I would recommend this to anyone and honestly everyone who is in the market. ... show more

These outlet boxes are so much better than the old-fashioned metal outdoor covers or the giant yellowed in-use waterproof box covers that I replaced. While these are marketed as new-construction, if you are handy with vinyl siding, you can indeed replace an existing j-block with this box. I have used this box both in new construction as well as retrofit applications, and now I will only use this style box for any outdoor outlet. I had wondered why it shows this including two face plates...they are slightly smaller than a standard face plate, in order to fit inside this box. NOTE: There are two options - one with a grey cover, and one with a white cover. I first ordered the grey cover, until I realized that the white cover looks much nicer (to me) since you don't see the outlet.
