The box was packaged well and arrived without damage. It was made from thinner material but appears to be adequate for my use, thicker boxes are available but would cost up to twice as much. I followed the advice of other reviewers and lined the bottom with cut plywood, this should help avoid damage from heavy items. It did not have a weatherproof gasket on the lid, I thought this should have been included. I had some adhesive material on hand and added a seal to the lid. When buying this item I was looking at the model which was the most narrow. I saw the depth and height which were fine but without looking I decided I wanted one with greater width, thinking the other measurements were the same. Much to my dismay, after looking at my order in which the shipping was another total disappointment, the box was only <12" tall and not very deep. What's the point in having a wider box just to shrink the other measurements to give you the same or lesser amount of storage than their smallest box? I put (1) 100ft power cord in this thing and barely had enough room for a sandwich left over. Box construction was okay, I guess, but it's not big enough for anything other than small hand tools or a pair of boots. My bar, I didn't look at the description of the larger box. I was excited to get this box and get it mounted on my camper. I barely got it out of the box and noticed the lock assembly would not work. After looking at how cheap and crazy the latch is, I understand why it would not work. There is 1 screw sticking out of the top of the lid that holds the assembly in place. There is no way to get to that screw if it breaks as the piece it sticks through is welded to the lid! I also could not get it to line up and actually stay closed. I would have had to bungee strap the lid down or it would fly open going down the road. The other issue is that this unit is in no way waterproof. At best, it would keep a gentle rain falling straight down, from coming in. There is no insulation between the lid and the box itself. Yes, there is a small lip, but if you have the unit mounted on a trailer tongue, you WILL get water, mud, debris, etc. flying at the front of the box and it will go right into the box. This is one of the biggest disappointments I have had with a fairly pricey storage unit. Also, to return it (after you dont like it and cant use it), you have to pay $25 in return shipping. ... show more
