    • Why are these even made? They don't cut snow banks or snow drifts.
I live in Northeastern Mass. and this year we did get our share of snow. I've had my Ariens 28" deluxe snow thrower for about 10 years and I saw the drift cutter attachments in their catalog so I ordered a set from Amazon. I received them and the quality was good. Nicely painted orange steel brackets with four 1/4' stove bolts and four plastic knobs for attaching the brackets to the snow thrower. I attached the brackets to my snow thrower. I noticed that stove bolts should have been about 1/4" longer to make attaching and adjusting them easier. Anyway, within a couple of weeks we received about 15" of snow in one storm. I used my snow thrower with the " Drift Cutters" and the drift cutters made no difference in going through snow drifts or the high piled snow at the end of my driveway. In places the snow was 2.5-3 ft. high. I thought that these attachments would cut the high snow and cause it to fall forward and away from the back part of the machine but this was not the case. It cuts the snow but the snow falls backwards onto the back of the snow thrower between the exit chute and the engine. This is exactly what would happen when I ran without the drift cutters. I found that the drift cutters are absolutely useless and do nothing to improve the use of your snow thrower. Save your money and do not buy this product it does nothing to improve your snow thrower. Out out of the way when U don't need them. Knobs are hard to turn to loosen or tighten. Hay if this helps them from falling off or loosing up. Its worth getting plies out. Snow was over 40 inch when i put them no snow and melting snow. There 37 inch hight hope no more going back and forth riding on top of the snow. ... show more

    • Got Correct Product Second Time Around
The first shipment I received was the wrong product. Vendor was easy to work with to do a return and shipped correct replacement out promptly. I believe instructions are wrong, works better if you do NOT use middle hole as described in them, use the two outer ones instead. Wish they fit flatter to machine. We will see how they work when the real snow falls this winter (actually hoping I don't ever have to use!). ... show more
