Have used several type rod including SS and this machine works well with anything I needed to weld. I was a certified Pressure Vessel welder in my early years. burned many a 6010,7018 and Stainless rod. I am retired now and have been searching for an Inverter Welder that will burn 6010, 6011, 7018 and others. I tried quite a few that said they would run 6010, some at a much higher price I might add, but this ARC205 Pro run 6010 quite well. I saw a video on youtube where the reviewer tried to run 6010 with this machine an gave up saying it would run it, however he didn't adjust the Hot start or Arc Force settings. I set mine to HS=10 and AF=30. I ran Victory, ESAB, INWELD and Lincoln Excalibur 5P+ both 3/32 and 1/8. The only rod that did not run up to par was the 3/32 lincoln Excalibur. All other ran as they should. I have only had the machine about a week but at this point I would recommend this machine because it runs all the cellulose rods, even tried 8010 and that ran very well. The Price is right and it does what ARC CAPTAIN says it will do.

I'm going to give it to you straight about this welder and why I bought it. I have an ARCCAPTAIN 205MP and as a MIG welder, I was plenty satisfied with its performance. I have used that welder for MIG, plasma, and very limited stick welding. While it's a smallish welder, it's not as portable as I wanted at times, so I decided to look at the ARC205 Pro. I set my expectations pretty reasonably at this price point. I ordered it and it arrived the next day in good condition and well packaged. It includes the basics to get you started, 10 or so 6013 1/8" rods, a stinger, a ground clamp, a shoulder strap, and a 120/240 volt adapter pigtail. I think for what you get, it's priced fairly. Getting to the setup and welding, it's pretty straight forward. App connectivity works just as good as the 205MP, but to be honest it's not something I use much. I set the welder up for both the 6013 rods it included and some Forney 3/32 7018 rods I run on occasion. Both welded quite nicely and I honestly have nothing to complain about. I ran it on 240v for the 1/8" rods and tried 120v with the 3/32nd rod. Both worked fine, but I'd always lean towards 240v if it's nearby for maximum flexibility. The welder is tiny by welder standards and that's why I bought it. I wanted something I could grab and go for odd jobs. This welder will suit the bill just fine and it's very hard to beat the portability. Being barely larger than a lunchbox and for what it does is pretty impressive. I am glad they used Dinse 35 connectors, but then again, I question why they didn't do the same on the 205MP which uses Dinse 25, meaning there's an incompatibility between welders with similar power outputs. To me, that's a suboptimal decision. Now if I had to give the welder some critiques, you can tell corners were cut in certain areas. The most noticeable is unfortunately one of the things you handle the most, the stinger or electrode holder. It looks cheap and it feels equally cheap. Will it work? Yes, but it's as low quality as you could probably get. I bought 25' each of 2 AWG made in USA welding cable, Dinse 35 connectors, a heavy duty C clamp style ground clamp, and a twist lock stinger. For about the price of the welder, I'll have a MUCH nicer set of leads that will work on my Miller Dynasty and the ARC205 Pro. If you have never welded or are on a budget, the included parts will get the job done, but with the longer cables, it will allow me to run on 240v more often and I'll keep the stock set for when maximum portability comes into play. I have read enough about the cheap aluminum wire and how the leads can get very hot when welding at higher amps, so I wish to avoid that if possible. Buy once, cry once as they say. Overall, if this welder holds up over the longer term, I think it will be a great addition to the shop. I will update the review when I try some other rods as I've read mixed messages about running 6010. Some say it will run it, others say it won't. Keep an eye out for lightning deals on this welder, as you can save a bit more. I didn't and paid the current price as of March 2026.

I have been a welder for 40 + years . I am retired and needed a small machine for home projects ,I didn’t expect much from this machine ,wasn’t sure it would even work ! It blew me away it’s a great little machine does a fantastic job! You can’t go wrong buying this machine !

Had my arc 200 for several months . Got the new 205 pro a few weeks ago . Arc captain is my new favorite weld machine brand been a Lincoln fan boy my whole life . On my arc 200 I upgraded the power cables and bolted several grounds inside the machine and it welds great , I burn ++++p 6010 all day no problem, no arc going out not fighting the machine , hood down I'm not knowing if I'm using a miller bobcat or arc captain . My new 205 ,opened it up and the build quality has doubled. Grounds bolted in almost same spots I did on my arc 200. Upgraded power cable, ground going straight to bolt on tied in w others. Wind tunnel , and fan on demand . Nice , I want to buy another. I really like both arc 200 and 205 . I put 205 and generator plus air compressor in my truck and lighter now than bobcat by itself. I will be getting mig 200 next and sell a few of my others .hands down get you a 205 now , if you have the skill can do serious work with arc captain.
