  • A GREAT TOY ARCADE MACHINE
Color: Street Fighter
I got several other Arcade 1up machines, mainly to make my living room look like a working arcade. The assembly was easy, except for monitor installation, in which some screws were a bit tricky to drive. My unit came with the deck protector, to stop the graphics being rubbed off. The controls feel a little like an arcade machine, but if you've ever played a real arcade machine, you'll notice the difference. Not bad, but you know it's a toy. LOL Arcade 1up doesn't tell you this, so I will. DON'T leave your Arcade 1up machines on, all day, every day. After about a few weeks, I noticed a faded area appear around the edges of the screens, where the LEDs started cooking the thin film transfer layers off, a bit. Definitely cheap stock monitor. At least the brightness, and contrast are fairly well balanced. I'll just know not to run these machines, except when I actually intend to play them. Unlike some of my newer cabinets, the screen remains fairly well balanced, as far as black is concerned, when viewing at angles greater than 45 degrees from zero. Don't know why the newer ones (2019) look all gray, and washed out. The stereo audio is missing on two of the games, specifically, on the left channel. The system board outputs mono, but there was supposed to be a solder bridge between a couple of pads, to make the stereo mixdown to mono, or the mono option should have been set in the hidden menu, at the factory. I think Arcade 1up is working on a board fix. Don't know why, but someone at the Arcade 1up factory set the volume WAY, WAY, TOO LOUD. LOL. I have to stack a couple of paperback books on the speaker to quiet it down, a bit. That's even on the low setting. This should've been correctly set at the factory. It wasn't. It's too bad the marquee doesn't light up. At least there are third parties out there, who are making lighted marquees for the Arcade 1up machines. It's still fun to play. These machines use half inch stock particle board, which is covered with a plastic laminate, for the inner facing sides, and edge to edge silkscreened vinyl for the outer facing sides. I'm not sure if mini T-molding is used, or tape, for the edges. Probably the latter. LOL. I will be ordering the bat-top grips for the sticks, to replace the ball tops with. However, I believe Arcade 1up is now including bat-tops with newer production runs of this product. ... show more

  • Great Quality, Easy to Build - Must Have for all Gen X
Color: Street Fighter
The media could not be loaded. Could I be one of the lucky ones that has a fully working unit? I got mine just a few days ago and it only took 3 to 4 days from when I ordered it. I took advantage of a deal from Brads Deals, redirected me to Amazon and it was selling for $187.50. When the box showed up, I was a little leery of the condition of the box. The first photo is what it looks like. I advise that you ship it somewhere when someone can sign for it. This is an easy grab for thieves sitting on your porch, as the box fully shows what’s inside. After unboxing it, all items was well packed and no damages at all. Every part is labeled correctly, every bag of screws:hardware is tagged properly. All you need is a reliable philips screw driver. I though I’d need a hammer to secure the wood pegs, but they fit so perfectly on every hole. I advise to watch the assembly video a couple of times to get an idea how to build it. It’s very simple following step by step book that comes with the box. After every screw has been secured, placing the monitor and the controller board was the last two items to secure. The entire graphics on every panel and controller and monitors looks exactly like the ones I played in the 90’s. This thing is just very well built with highest quality! The total height of the arcade is perfect to play with a chair. But I will buy the riser to get the full stand up effect of a classic arcade game. I finally turned it on, and all worked as designed. You can select between the original SF or SF II or the Turbo versions. Each one is exactly how it was in the 90’s. Boy has technology surpassed the graphics from these classic arcade games. I’m so spoiled with how sharp my Xbox One 4K games are, but this really brings the old game feel back, and right in my house! Overall I am very happy. It having to find quarters to play. The difficulty of every game is set exactly how it was, I know this because I still have a hard time getting passed Vega! This is a perfect addition to any arcade lover and you’re building a game room! ... show more

  • Great for Arcade Nostalgia, not so much for the serious collectors.
Color: Street Fighter
After ordering the game cabinet it arrived in a timely manner. I set it up in about an hour, and it looked and felt as I expected. There was no noticeable damage to any of the parts. This isn’t going to have the true quality feel of an actual arcade machine, but for nostalgia it does the job. Several things to note: • This is NOT STEREO. (Some sounds are lost that would otherwise play normally in a stereo set up) Overall, however, it’s easily missed unless you’re actually listening for the sounds. • The default joysticks come with ball tops, four way restrictor plates, and feel very cheap. (Two days after it arrived after about three games played on it, the 1st person joystick stopped working properly. Arcade1up did replace it free of charge, but I had to do the install myself. At that point I decided to simply upgrade both joysticks to Sanwa joysticks, bat tops, and octagonal restrictor plates. The difference those minor changes made was night and day) • Although it’s what I believe to be a first gen/series from arcade1up, it did come with a deck protector. Something I understand was not originally included with the cabinets until wide spread complaints of damaged deck designs. I would highly recommend purchasing a riser with it. It stands at about four feet without it and the riser definitely makes a difference. It brings it right up to a comfortable standing level. Overall, I’d recommend this but only if you can catch it on sale. The build quality, although nice, does not justify some of the four hundred to six hundred price ranges on this product, considering Arcade1Up only adds three games to it. Think “IKEA” furniture and you get the idea. If you’re okay with that light build quality then by all means jump into this. ... show more
