Very pleased with this welder. It handles 3/32" 6011 and 7018 rods just fine. Does very well, actually. 1/8" rods are a bit to heavy for it though. Cable leads are long enough to not limit your mobility, and short enough to not get in your way. Arc force and hot start settings seem to work well, but I question whether this welder is actually putting out 165 A. I think not. Like Adam Sandler's 2008 comedy movie "You Don't Mess with the Zohan"... this small package has quite a kick! If you don't have a welder, or maybe even if you do, already, this small welder may amaze you. A 110v, super portable, very small and lightweight, (I muse that maybe the cable assemblies weigh more than the unit itself!!) machine for common welding rods. Fan noise is noticeable but how often do you weld while people in the same room are sleeping? I wish they would've added some supports on the unit itself to allow one to wrap the cables around it to keep it all neatly together, but it is not critical (it IS so small anyway.) Maybe I'll 3D print some. Instructions that come with the welder are very basic. They do not explain why one polarity might be better than the other (leads can be interchanged). They mention, but do not explain nor make suggestions on how to set the digital controls this welder has. The instructions also assume you know how to weld. The unit is so very super portable, it might be dangerously too easy to place it precariously or accidentally drop it into a dangerous location. Before I played with the settings, the little box had no problems producing arcs that would blow holes in 1/8 inch soft steel. Striking ad maintaining an arc was not very difficult when correctly using some of the settings that help with that. Buy this to learn how to weld, or to effectively fix small stuff, but get guidance on how to set and use elsewhere! So, although I suspect the Chinese company randomly put some consonants and vowels together to get the name "Zojan", and they didn't mean to make any references to the movie's eponymous character, I pronounce it Zohan. You "Don't mess with the Zojan?" ;-) ... show more

The welder is lightweight and has an easy user interface to work with. You can switch electrodes in order to adapt to the position, electrode, or the type of metal you're working on. Supports 6010 (DCEN) and 6011/6013/7018 (DCEP) modes. The F.A.N. turns on as needed. - Make sure your power source can handle the current draw. - This unit does NOT come with any welding sticks. - Instructions are sparse, so you need to know what you are doing. (I've included a few sheets of the instructions so you can see what they explain.) - The manual warns about exceeding overvoltage or overcurrent protection (so be careful how you set the controls, if you set things wrong, you could possibly damage the unit). - I would recommend something other than this unit for a beginner/first-timer. So far, the unit has worked well. I honestly have not used it enough to tell how good it is, but it does the basics and is easy to use. ... show more
