This is a rave review (no incentives other than my complete satisfaction). The product itself is perfect: exactly what I needed. The most common complaint against any vendor selling glass canopies is that they "don't fit." Pidaz heads this off by not selling anything without contacting the buyer to be certain the measurement are precise. They show exactly what the measurements of their canopies are and even supply a video on how to measure one's own tank(s) before ordering. The point here is that no vendor accepts returns on glass canopies. Then Pidaz ships their canopies so carefully and thoroughly protected that the roughest carrier is unlikely to be able to damage them in shipping, thereby eliminating the second-most-common complaint from customers. The canopies themselves are beautiful, crystal-clear, perfect fits, and definitely lighter in weight than the glass canopies of old. It actually seems that these lighter canopies are more likely to be long-lasting and shatter proof than the heavy but fragile ones of old that larger fish could smash with a single leap. I could not be more pleased, and I have been keeping tropical fish for over 40 years! I have bought 4 of these from Pidaz and will continue to use this purveyor whenever I need a new or replacement canopy for one of my tanks. ... show more

    • Backstrip from HECK!

I'm very happy with the lid now that I've gotten the backstrip on, but I'm taking a star off for that misery. My god, I've put backstrips on glass aquarium lids before, but this one takes the cake for being nearly impossible. Because I'm using this for a vivarium for dart frogs, I was extremely hesitant to use Windex spray due to the ammonia, but it's the only thing that really worked. I tried heating the backstrip up using a blow dryer and the thinner part of the plastic started to warp, even though the heat was being applied to the part of the strip that slides over the glass. One of the backstrips is pretty warped, but I think it will be okay. I heated it up and did my best to reshape it. If the company offers replacement strips, I might buy one in the future, but for now, it's gonna have to work. For the second backstrip I just sprayed Windex all over the glass and slowly, painfully slid it on. I tried all techniques imaginable and the Windex was the only one that worked... My palms are beat up and I was wearing gloves. So glad I elected to have them install the hinges because I would be even more miserable if I had to put those on as well. I wish there were an option to have them put the backstrips on too. I did receive the email requesting I contact them to verify my tank's measurements to make sure I got the correct lid. I hadn't responded and I've already received the product. Totally fine for me, but just thought I'd mention it. The pros: came quickly (was expecting it no sooner than Dec. 28th. It arrived five days early) beautiful, fits well (had to trim like 1/16th of an inch off the backstrip) on my unknown manufacturer 55gal tank. The cons: Getting the backstrip in place... There are also a couple gaps that could let fruit flies escape the enclosure, but that's not too big of a deal. I can come up with a creative solution. If that were the only issue, I'd definitely give 5 stars. But I gotta take one off for that backstrip. ... show more

I absolutely love my new glass lids. I have 2 for my 75 gallon tank and they are perfect. If you know how to read a ruler and you measure your tank your lid will fit perfectly. This lids allows natural light to enter as well as whatever lighting you choose. Have a sharp knife or pair of sharp scissors so you can cut the openings for your filter and heater etc that comes out the back. You want to leave as much of the covering on the back of the lid to help prevent your tank water from evaporating. ... show more

I downsized from a 150 gallon tank to a 55 gallon. I bought the tank at PetSmart. I quickly became discouraged after my purchase when I learned they didn’t sell glass canopies that fit this particular tank. I tried multiple aquarium stores and even some on Amazon only to find each one of them would not fit. I found this product which seemed to be the perfect size. I also read a review of a person who has the same tank as me. I was so excited except the price seemed awful high. I decided not to purchase it because of that. Then, one day I got fed up with my cats messing with the hoods that came with the tank and decided I was ready to pay the price. Much to my surprise, it had significantly dropped. I immediately made my purchase. Soon after doing so, I received messages from the seller about it being on back order. They were very clear and direct in their communication about what to expect including timeframes and the notifications I may get from Amazon along the way. I was willing to wait for it in hopes it was what I needed. It ended up coming just a little later than I hoped, but when I messaged to get a status update they promptly replied. Everything they said to expect happened exactly as they described. I extend my biggest appreciation to the seller. The canopy fits perfectly for my tank, and I’m so relieved to be back to normal! I was highly impressed with their detailed, thorough, and most of all accurate communication. It was well worth the wait!!! I’ve been waiting to purchase my new filter system until I found a canopy that worked. Now I can get that and start building my plant life in the new tank. ... show more
