Description

Quartz Gravel is the Rolls-Royce of our range. Natural Quartz not only looks wonderful but has also been shown to help reduce the build up in the aquarium. This is partly due to the huge surface area of quartz which offers added space for the establishment of tank cleaning bacteria. Quartz sparkles underwater due to the many light reflecting facets and is a striking substrate that contrasts well with aquarium plants such as anubias and amazon swords.

  • Very very fine - almost like sand - beautiful!
Size: 10LB
I ordered this to add a “sediment” layer for my aquatic plants, and to give a different landscape for my betta Tatsu. I rinsed and soaked them in a bucket overnight to get all the debris out and peace of mind that it’s clean; definitely helped with the cloudiness prior to adding. I added a thin layer across the pea gravel I already have; it was plenty of material for my 10 gallon tank. If used alone with no other substrate/rocks, you’d probably need 2 bags of this for a 10 gal. My pet peeves but doesn’t totally kill the vibe: 1. They don’t sparkle under water at all ☹️ 2. If you have a foam filter like mine that sits at the bottom, these quart rocks are as small as sand and my filter sucked them up and clogged it. I will be getting a top flow filter instead, so not too annoying. 3. I will update once I do a complete tank clean to share how difficult it is to clean with how small they are - by the looks of it, it’ll be a challenge. Wish they were larger size! ... show more

  • A Nice Fine Gravel.
Size: 10LB
Looks exactly as it should. It needed a good rinsing but that was expected. Black enough for me. Don't care about sparkles. Some reds and browns give it some contrast. This works for me.

  • Black sand
Size: 10LB
Great product! You still have to clean sand before putting into tank but has a very good look

  • Does what it’s supposed to and like good I. The process
Size: 10LB
Perfect consistency for Cory’s slight coarser than a true sand but close. Color is a true black with “sparkling “ crystal dispersed throughout. I did need to rinse before adding to aquarium but I did so about 3lbs at a time. And after only a few minutes was able to add to an existing aquarium by using a solo cup to transport it to the bottom and spread it out over my existing gravel with no noticeable change in water clarity. Yes a few stray grains floated around for a few hours but the water remained clear and I was never concerned about harm to the fish. In the end does what it’s supposed to do at reasonable price and looks good doing it ... show more

  • Clouded Water
Size: 10LB
I did not have a great experience with this product. One thing to know is that it wasn't entirely the product's fault but somewhat my fault. This product was called "Gravel", and it is very different from gravel in the sense of size. The individual pieces are similar to sand, and it clogged my filter, and even know I am going back and forth from the sink filling up buckets to dump into the huge tank to the keyboard. This is a real nuisance. That part was a bit my fault for not being more careful and a bit their fault for not being clearer. However, that was not the only problem. The product says triple washed so I did not rinse it off before putting it into the tank. I probably should have though because it clouded the water terrible and pretty much turned the water gray. On a better note, before I redid the tank it looked prettier than ever with this stuff at the bottom. I recommend pairing this in a freshwater goldfish tank with sinking driftwood and lily pads/water lettuce or water hyacinths. This product was also very easy to use by simply cutting of the top corner to pour. This product also had a surprisingly good price to weight comparison. To conclude I had an alright experience with this product ... show more

  • Beautiful black gravel for aquarium
Size: 10LB
This black gravel looks amazing in the aquarium and really makes the fish and plants stand out. Cleaned up easily and didn’t cloud the water much. Great quality and gives the tank a sleek natural look.

  • Green resin and Shards of tiny sharp glass.
Size: 10LB
The sand is not fully black sand, appears to have a green clear bead like gravel, looks like resin used in Ro/Di units, if you look very closely, it looks like tiny shards of sharp glass, this is not good for sand shifting critters or bottom dwellers, like plecos and catfish, I think it’s best to stay clear from this, until they fix this issue not safe for fish or invertebrates. ... show more
