Our meticulously graded gravels and sands are the perfect natural substrates for any aquarium including planted tanks. Our high quality products create natural beauty combined with large surface areas for beneficial bacteria colonies and easy cleaning. Contains bio activated live nitrifying bacteria to either use as a primary substrate or mix with substrate for a healthy aquarium. Contains a patented blend of live nitrosomas and nitrobacter bacteria which break down and convert harmful ammonia, into nitrates.

Whoever thought of this is a genius! Easy to get out of the bag and into the tank, high quality, super soft and perfect grain size, and the color is super nice and natural looking! But the fact that it has the beneficial bacteria defiantly makes it 100% worth the money! It's perfect for getting the nitrogen cycle started in a new tank and I would recommend it to anyone, beginner or experienced! I actually already ordered more. (Also, just spend the extra 2 bucks for 10pounds of it, 5pounds isn't a lot and considering you can get twice the amount for only 2 dollars extra you might as well do it!) ... show more

I have a charcoal substance and my fish was knocking my plants loose from playing in them. I poured this substance around my plants because it is finer and more dense than my black substance which keeps my plants in place. While feeding them and keeping my tank healthy. My fish plays hard and rubs his belly into the sand. He doesn't seem bothered because he keeps playing. Looks great and seems soft because my fish would not be so playful if it hurt him. My tank stays pretty clean. My Cory fish seems to enjoy it as well. Has the functionality of feeding nutrition to the tank and adding a beautiful sugar-white color to the tank. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I used 2 bags of this sand in a 55gal Cichlid Tank. 4 bags would probably be ideal, but it still looks good. I rinsed the sand first, but it wasn’t cloudy nor dirty. Highly recommend.

Great product but had problems with shipping. The first time the package got damaged, then it got lost, and then it took extra time to come. So expect it to take a while. I will definitely purchase this again for any future tanks. I was in awe with the natural look of it and it inspired me to add life plans to my beta tank. It has a wonderful and most natural look than any other substrate I’ve ever used besides small natural pebbles. Read the instructions and do not wash the sand. Use it directly out of the bag. Steps: I placed the sand in first and gave it a slope for visual effect. I then added all of the decorations to include some of the plants and a few more after to fill the tank. The water took about 24 to 48 hours to clear and worried me a little bit given that I had read some other reviews in which it cleared faster. It’s a wonderful and clean look. I have no idea what it will take to clean the tank as it pertains to technique and time allotment, but given the look, I think the trouble may be worth it. I would highly recommend. ... show more

so far i love this sand, it looked brown in the bag when it came but once its under water it does look white and is pretty. Its a little difficult to put in with decor already placed but worth the effort.

I have tried the 3 layer substrate system...will never go that way ever again....this product works fast and so much easier plus my plants love it...I opted for the 5 pound size which is plenty for my 2 gallon tank...super easy to install root plants...just make a finger hole in the sand, plug in the plants and gently work the sand around them..healthy great sand...my plants are loving it ... show more
