I wanted to switch out the gravel I had in my Fluval flex 15 gallon aquarium and replace it with sand. I had no idea what sand to get as I am new to the hobby. I'm so glad I went with this one because this sand is great!! I bought one 10lb bag and the one bag was the perfect amount. It completely covers the bottom of the aquarium and is about an inch and a half deep/tall. It's very fine sand and super white. I rinsed it thoroughly for about 15- 20 minutes in a bucket with a hose. The sand was pretty clean to start with so 15-20 mins was probably overkill but better safe than sorry I always say. The water was never cloudy even right after adding it to the aquarium. I will say I was very careful when adding the sand since I didn't completely empty the water from the aquarium. So all in all I'm very happy with it and will definitely be purchasing again in the future! ... show more

this sand is perfect and this is the reason why I deserved the five stars it’s perfect to use and you just need to rinse it perfectly and you barely get any cloudiness. It’s perfect. It’s OK for smell you don’t you don’t smell anything. You just smell plain sands I wanna say durability because this is sands functionality is perfect. Everything else is perfect with this products. This is really nice sand, it looks great in my tank and my bottom feeders seem to really like it. I like that it's fine but not dusty. It's light enough you can just dust it with the inertia of the water when it's spread out on top of a plant or some other decor but also heavy enough that my fish aren't kicking it up constantly. It's easy enough to put live plants into this substrate and it has enough weight to keep them from floating away. That said I did have trouble with some tiger lotus bulbs (but who doesn't) and was able to get enough sand on top without covering it too much and wedging it under a little driftwood to keep it down. I liked it a lot and purchased another bag to use in a 21 gallon tank; however, the second bag I received had a hole in it. It looked to be more like a tear, I had to immediately move the bag into a bucket because it was leaking sand all over the box and my floor but overall it's a really decent nice sand substrate, just be careful when opening. ... show more

The sand looks natural and is safe for fish, especially bottom dwellers. It settled quickly in the tank with no rinsing needed and didn’t create cloudiness. Easy to clean, though it can compact over time so occasional stirring helps. Overall, a solid choice for aquariums! Had mine for 3 years now and it still looks amazing!
