Breaks quickly&easily& your $$ goes down the drain
My boyfriend and I got this directly from the manufacturer and were having trouble with it working consistently for the first few months of owning it. Then it just stopped working altogether at about 3 months. We figured maybe we just needed to buy new filters and although the one that gets replaced the most is supposed to last around 6 months, maybe ours just didn't (??). Anyhow, we get new filters and replace them, and manage to get 1-2 pitchers of water out of it before it stops working again!! We read all the instructions multiple times and followed all the technical "checks" they say to do in the instructions but it not only wouldn't work anymore but the blue light on the screen wouldn't even come on anymore. So, we've been messing with this thing for like 4-5 months(?) maybe now and my boyfriend is pissed and wants to return it. I call customer service and they say too bad, you only have 30 days to return it. But since it's clearly defective, and has a 1 year warranty, I can pay 19.99 and have a new base (not the pitcher/filters/etc---just the bottom white part) shipped out to us and *hopefully* that will fix the problem. Well, at this point (after buying new filters and mineral solution) we're in close to $500, so what's $20 right? So, I'm waiting (7-14 days supposedly) for the new base to arrive and we're having to buy lots of bottles of water right now. I'll update this when I know we actually have a working water filtration system, but in the meantime, I would NEVER recommend anyone spend money on this. It's impossible to tell how well this thing will work for the next few years in only 30 days. There should be at least a 90 day return policy. Note: customer service for aquatru (which is not easy to reach by the way) told me I should've called them everytime I had a problem so they'd have a record of it. She made it seem like if I had called them and made multiple reports of issues, I might've been able to return this after 30 days. How am I supposed to know that's how they make exceptions for returning after 30 days?? The instructions seem pretty clear for troubleshooting but she says I should've called them for trouble shooting?! In my opinion customer service is usually for orders, returns, etc and is not usually who I call for troubleshooting. Also, I live in Hawaii and am in a very different time zone and they are only open for short hours, so if I had known this, I would've coordinated my life around making these calls to them but usually manuals are excellent for troubleshooting and I am pretty handy and usually can get things working---but not something that just breaks down completely. Also, to top this off, after my new base unit arrives, she wants me to hold on to the broken one-to store it for about 30 days! She said because they MAY want to pay to have the base shipped back to them for the engineers to look at. But if they don't contact me in 30 days, then I can throw it away!?! Umm I live in a tiny apartment and do not have extra storage space for this bulky thing---this whole scenario is ridiculous. Either you want it back now or you don't...I'm not holding on to trash for 30 days. Ughhh... again, I do not recommend. **If you decide to ignore my review and buy this, I would buy it here on Amazon so you avoid the S/H charge through the Aquatru company and I would buy the 4 year coverage plan that Amazon offers on here for this-YOU WILL NEED IT, this thing breaks easily! Good luck!*** UPDATE: we got the warranty replacement base in the mail today, and set everything up as it says and you have to run 4 pitchers of water through it before it's officially "good to drink" water. Guess what? We got 2 pitchers done and when we went to do pitcher 3, it won't turn on!!! Are you serious?!? I have unplugged it, plugged it back in, tried other outlets, took the pitchers off, put them back on, looked over the whole thing again...no reasonable explanation as to why this would just break---not even power on---for no reason after only 2 pitchers AND THIS IS THE BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT!! I did feel the plastic (under the pitchers in the center of the base) and it felt very warm. Is the motor overheating from two small pitchers of water and maybe there's a built in switch that won't let the power go on if it's too hot? I don't know? Your guess is as good as mine. We definitely were able to do back to back pitchers with the other one so I can't imagine that's it. My overall point here is that Aquatru is really AquaTRASH. They don't deserve 1 star because it's a big waste of money and time...NEGATIVE 10 STARS for this. I included two pics, one of the blue light that comes on when the system is on/ready. The other pic shows the black screen you'll get when it breaks and doesn't power on anymore. πŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘ŽπŸ‘Ž

STILL an Awesome Product!
Day 1 - 10/9/2017 We received our AquaTru Countertop Reverse Osmosis system today. We've been using a Zen Water System for several years, and liked the system, but wanted a system with reverse osmosis. We set it up and ran through the required 5 tanks to flush the filters before we started tasting/testing. It's Awesome! Quiet, fast (about 12+/- minutes for 3 quarts). Tastes great! The filtered water tank is a quite a bit smaller than our old Zen system which had a 5 gallon filtered water tank, but I think the speed of the AquaTru will make up for the smaller tank (The Zen was significantly slower). The Zen system was also more difficult to maintain, wash the components, tanks, etc. The smaller tanks on the AquaTru will be much easier to maintain. We have a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) tester which measures dissolved solids in PPM (Parts per million). Our unfiltered tap water is about 230 to 270 PPM dissolved solids. The filtered water from the AquaTru is about 33 PPM. I also tested the waste water which contains the removed containments and dissolved solids removed from your water. It tested at over 530 PPM. Will update this review sometime in the future based on our experience over time. Day 2 - 10/10/2017 A couple more observations: Great Feature: The filtered water tank has a full sensor, so when the tank is full, filtering stops. As filtered water is dispensed from the tank, the unit will automatically begin filtering more water until the filtered water tank is full, or the tap water tank has been depleted. As long as there's enough water in the tap water tank, the unit will keep the filtered water tank full. When the Tap water tank needs to be emptied of waste water and refilled, there's a large indicator on the front display. Room for Improvement: The filtered water tank dispenses from the bottom front by pushing a button, which releases water. The button is a bit difficult to get good control over the rate of flow. If you're filling a container or glass it's a great, strong flow. If you're filling an ice cube tray or similar shallow container, it's a little more difficult to control the flow so it doesn't splash everywhere, but not impossible. Also, the water continues to flow for about a second after you release the button. Just something to know so you don't overflow... Still really impressed and the water tastes great! UPDATED: Month 6 - 4/14/2018 ------------------------------------------- We've been using the AquaTru for a little over six months now. Still works and tastes great! We ordered a spare set of filters but haven't had to replace any yet. On a typical day we'll run anywhere from 1 to 4 tanks through the filter. We also bought a second clean water tank and keep it in the refrigerator. There are occasional periods with more (house guests, etc) and periods with no tanks run thru (trips away from home, etc). We have found one (probably rare) problem that we are concerned will shorten the life of the pump, etc. We live in a 70+ year old house. The Aqua Tru is on a kitchen counter top. Occasionally the water in the tank may slosh slightly if there's a slight earthquake (we live in Southern California) or a truck goes by, etc. (Due to our older home). If the tank is full, this causes the filtered water sensor to think that the tank is no longer full. The pump turns on, and almost immediately as the water sloshes back and touches the sensor, the pump turns off, usually less than 1 second later. This causes the water to slosh even more, and at times becomes self perpetuating. The pump continues to turn on and off very rapidly. Occasionally we'll hear the unit doing this during the middle of the night, and have to getup to remove enough water so that the sensor no longer triggers. If the AquaTru waited a few seconds before engaging the pump or detected this rapid on/off of the tank full sensor, it would probably eliminate these false triggers. Because of this issue, i'm lowering my rating to 4 stars. It's an unusual situation that probably won't affect everyone, but one that could be avoided with a simple engineering or software change. UPDATED DAY 398 - 11/11/2018 ---------------------------------------- We still use the AquaTru daily with only one issue not mentioned above. We are concerned, that in all this time, the unit has never instructed us to change any of the filters! The various filters are expected to last six months, one year and two years. By my rough estimate, we've processed more than the estimated gallons through. In the box, there was a single sheet that directed us to press the reset button on the back of the unit for a period of time. We did do this. I'm assuming it was to reset the counters used for each filter. I'm ordering all new filters to install and resetting the unit. And will monitor more closely this time on the six month filter.

Broke after 2 months
This is an ok reverse osmosis product. A little on the pricier side, only thing I don’t like about this product is there is no automatic filter so once you refill the unfiltered water you have to turn it off then off again for the filtration to start. ** ok I had to update my review, seriously only owned this product less than maybe 2 months and it stopped working. Complete waste of money especially for the price spent. Save your money and stay away. Ps I followed every single direction and literally only used it maybe 4 times and it stopped working.

Warranty Claim? Good Luck.
After using it for three weeks, it developed an intermittent problem. It periodically stopped powering up when I changed the tap-water tank. I called the customer service number in the product manual. The rep told me that she only handles warranty claims for items purchased from the AquaTru website. When I calmly questioned the process, and asked for a customer service number for warranty claims for products not purchased from the AquaTru website, the rep hung up on me. I expected much better. 3 days later: A representative of the company reached out to me to offer to address the problem. I appreciate that. I'm waiting for the problem to reoccur, and hoping that it does not. I should say that overall I'm very happy with the product and the water. I'm increasing the rating to four stars with the expectation that if the problem reoccurs, the company will handle it.

Water tastes great but be aware, all components must align just so, or it won't work
The water tastes great, but the machine is quite sensitive: Don't have the filters housed just right (you need to push them in, not just twist) and it will leak; tank not seated just right, it won't turn on. I keep thinking mine is defective (only got it yesterday), but I think it's just fussy and this isn't explained in the directions.
