Beautiful sand- was more than enough to cover a 5 gallon . More expensive than the blasting sand from my local farm store however. Pretty, but will stick to the cheaper stuff. Aquarium tax is a thing i suppose.

This sand is very dark black, just what I wanted. Rinsed many times and still made the rinse water dirty and the aquarium water cloudy but not too bad. It does look awesome though. Would recommend and buy again.

Really nice sand that looks really good in my tank. The only issues I had is that there was a good amount of particles floating on the very top of the water. I bought 10lbs for a 20-gallon long tank and I way underestimated how much I needed. I ordered another 20lb bag and think that should be perfect. The sand is very consistent in particle size. I absolutely love this Aqua Natural Galaxy Sand! It is fine and soft and my Cory-catfish loves digging in it. It also has worked well for planting live aquatic plants, although you have to use a weight attached to the plant. Otherwise the plants will float up, especially since the catfish loves to dig around the plants.! But the plants grow well in this sand and the nite-out bacteria seem to flourish in it. I only change the sand once every few months, to allow the good bacteria to grow. There is a bit of cloudiness when first adding the sand to the tank, but I bought a sponge filter, and let it run for a few hours before adding fish back into the tank. And I’ve never had any fish die after adding sand. I don’t even rinse the sand.. just let the filter do the work! Overall, really great substrate, although it is really pricey, I think it is worth the money because I don’t have to change it often. I always buy the black color which hides and camouflage algae growth. ... show more

Looks great in my 9 gallon aquarium.it did take a while to wash and rinse it clear I would say I washed and rinsed about 10 times once I put it in my aquarium and filled it with water. The aquarium was clear almost immediately. Just remember to be sure to rinse until clear before adding to your tank. ... show more
