I love Mould king products. I used to purchase build blocks when they used to be called Lepin and they already had the best products and their new name still holds true. Their quality is top notch and I like all their original designs. The V8 Engine is really cool and looks great as a display piece. I would easily recommend them to my friends and family.

This Mould King engine comes with plenty of pieces, gears, pistons moving, even runs with motor once built. For car enthusiast or kid into mechanics, it’s exciting project — you see pistons pumping, valves opening, turbo detail, all inside clear head. But let’s be honest, not everyone cares to watch plastic pistons all day. Babushka prefers to read newspaper while I play mechanic on table. Assembly takes time, instructions decent, but patience required. Plastic quality feels okay, motor works, whole thing looks cool on shelf. For price, it’s solid hobby set. Just know it’s toy for builders and gearheads, not family centerpiece.

This was a really fun kit to build. It is definitely not the easiest build, but the instructions were clear and the parts were easy to identify. Some sections took a bit of patience and force to get together, so I would say this is best suited for older kids or adults. The finished product works great. It is a nice size to display on a shelf or desk. A single motor drives all the moving parts in the engine, and the clear valve covers let you watch it all in action, which looks fantastic. Overall, this made for a really enjoyable afternoon project. I was very satisfied when it was completed. This is a great kit for the price, with tons of detail and a build that is challenging in the best way possible.

I didn't know what to expect with this one, but it looked interesting, so I gave it a shot. The packaging is thinner than I expected, but overall it all came in a neat and clean box, with everything you need intact. I am not a car guy, but I don't mind learning new things. This seemed like a cool thing to try. It wasn't super easy to put together. I feel the instructions could have been a bit better. This could be because of my lack of car knowledge, and I'm okay with that. It wasn't super difficult either. I feel weird taking a star away for this detail, so I'm not going to. It could be I just lack the knowledge. That all being said, I'm not sure how far kids would get with this. I guess it depends on how old they are, and how interested they can stay in something like this. The quality seems fine for what it is, not that I'm an expert. I don't feel like it's going to fall apart or anything like that. Watching it run is pretty cool, although I can easily echo a few things being said by others. It would be extra cool if you could see the insides running a bit more from other angles. If you are into hobbies like this, I think the value for the money is there if you decide to make this purchase. It's a neat thing to try out!

I'm a grown man, yes, an adult. I was going to let my kids build this, but I got carried away and finished it myself. The instructions are not the best. If you understand how an engine works, it is much easier, I think the kids would have struggled with a few steps, but they do surprise me sometimes with their abilities. There are a few pieces that don't feel like they are finished, the fan on the front of the motor could have a longer shaft it sits on since the pully below it has a very tight tolerance and the overhead camshaft gears have a tendency to deflect a little. I can see the upper shafts working a little but it is a little sad that there is no way to see the pistons working since that is such a crucial part of the build and of how the engine works. It would be ideal if you could remove one of the heads and see half the engine working and the other half as complete but I get that that is a pretty complex ask for such a simple 2 hour build.
