We've had our Berkey for 8 years but stopped using it about 3 years ago because the filter costs were so high and that they were not NSF rated. I was pleasantly surprised to find Aqua Crest to have NSF certified replacements at a lower price. I set the Berkey back up and have been using it for a few weeks and its works great. Tastes good and even tested the water (just with those strip kits, not a professional service) and the results were great. I was using the aqua crest filers for my PUR filter and now use this. Update 4 months later - filter is still going. Great doesn’t come apart like other reviewers have mentioned, working perfectly. But I also discover is that the black cartridges don’t require as much cleaning as the original Berkey filters do. My original Berkey filters will get clogged up pretty fast within a couple weeks. Why I’d have to take them out and scrub them very often.

I've been using this filter since February 2024 and I'm really happy with it. The water tastes clean and fresh, way better than straight from the tap. I live in a big city where the water is already treated (no harmful microorganisms), and this filter is perfect for improving the taste and cutting out chemicals like chlorine. Filtration speed is great, and it easily keeps up with my daily use (2 person). I also love the solid stainless steel build, no leaks at all, and it feels sturdy and well-made. If you're using treated water and want to make it taste better while removing contaminants, I definitely recommend this one!

At first these filters worked great but about a month into it the water tasted awful!! Emptied everything re-primed the filters and the water tasted good again. Month later, that awful tasting water came right back, and even worse. Water not drinkable. Update: So the company reached out to me and replaced the filters free of charge. Amazing customer service!!

I wanted to love this product! It comes nicely padded and packaged. The rubber priming buttons are way better than the ones you get with the berkey filters. That’s where the pluses end. I live in Arizona and we have the worst water. I filter my water through a Berkey then through a second water filter pitcher (Zero water filter). Now I am not a scientist, but I do pay attention to what I ingest. If we’re going strictly by taste, these filters make the water “soft” and does not have a crisp clean taste at all. I noticed the seller has put a video up about TDS (total dissolved solids). I’m unable to view the video for some reason. But I will tell you, the water out of my tap is horrendous. It has a TDS of 800+! When I filter it thru a Berkey filter, it reduces the TDS to around 350+. Then I take the 350+ water and filter that through the zero water pitcher for clean and delicious tasting water. With these cheaper filters, first I noticed that it is much quicker to filter. This had me worried. When I tested the first batch it was off the charts. My TDS device wouldn’t even read it. The reading was - - -(which means more than 999) which means it must have ADDED TDS to my water. After 3 or 4 batches of water it went down to around 750+. This just isn’t acceptable to me! If you have lower TDS tap water then these filters might be a good deal for you. Otherwise. I can’t say that they are as good, or even close to the more expensive Berkey filters. I will be returning these.

We found these during Covid when we couldn’t get ahold of Berkey filters and we haven’t gone back since! They fit out Berkey seamlessly, are just as easy to install and our water filters nicely and tastes great!
