Functionally, it works well. The problem I am finding, however, is, it is way too long I have a 20 gallon tank. It doesn’t work, unless the pump part is fully submersed and with the length of this thing, trying to keep it fully submersed while moving it around inside the tank is rather difficult. you have to kind of hold it at an angle in order to get it around inside the tank, and the handle is so long that it really is kinda hard to do. I kind of wish there was a hose that connects between the pump and the gravel cleaning attachments so that way you can just submerse the pump into a bucket of water outside of the tank, and then all you would have to do is put the attachments with the hose into the tank and have a lot more flexibility inside the tank, trying to clean stuff. For instance, if I’m trying to clean stuff off of some of the decorations, I have to currently lift almost the entire thing out of the tank for the attachment to reach the top of the decorations at which point it doesn’t really work because the pump is not in the water. I guess I might try to design some kind of hose connection myself to try to do what I suggested, but then I’m not 100% sure the pump is strong enough for that but I’m going to try. Because, I do like it, it does seem to work well, oh, but one other thing, if you put the filters into the gravel cleaning attachment, every time you turn off the pump for something like you’re moving it around in the tank or you’re trying to lift it up out of the tank momentarily or something done the filters just fall out of the attachment into the water. They seem a little small for the attachment and there’s really nothing that holds them in there. ... show more

I was excited to get this to clean my filthy fish tank and thought this would be easier than the cheaper little vacuums. I was way wrong. The filter for the rock cleaner falls out as soon as you turn the pump off, which makes all the filth you just sucked up go back into the water. The duck bill attachment kept sucking up the rocks so had to keep shutting it off to release the rocks, which some still got stuck in the filter part. Very upset and will be throwing this away and just going with the old school cheap cleaners. ... show more

The pump is a good pump but you would want to get a different hose and a clamp. The hose that they give you can get blown off and then it will spray water EVERYWHERE until you take it out of the water and turn it off. Which can be quite a bit of water in that small amount of time. I definitely learned the hard way ... show more

    • So many problems with this thing if you have a 55G or smaller tank

Pros: It's packaged nicely, lots of attachments, suction is good. Cons: Instructions are incredibly difficult to understand. Even with the pictures it makes no sense. We figured it out of course, but not without a bit of frustration and connecting things wrong initially because we went off the photos. Hose is WAY TOO SHORT for any tank that is on a stand. There are no clamps for the hose either so you just have to hope you aren't lifting it up and out of the bucket youre using otherwise it'll be pouring dirty tank water into the floor Hose does not stay on the unit well. Within a few seconds of using, the hose fell off the portion that was in the tank, causing the vaccuum to act as a waterfall shooting the water up and out of the tank. Thankfully my electric unit was far enough away that it didn't get wet. This happened twice. Overall the thing is a massive headache. Possibly if I had a 125 gallon tank, or maybe a small indoor pond setup this could be good (if the hose was longer and had a clamp) but otherwise, I would not recommend this thing at all. I have contacted the manufacturer to see if there is a better filter or add-on filter. The current "Debris Filter" will work for little, very tidy fish tanks. My outdoor Koi tank develops more debris. I may have to return this is the manufacturer can't help me.
