Tip: Silicone or super glue may be needed This thing has fantastic suction power and easier to get into hard to reach places than others I have used. The suction is really really good and usually very easy to get started. The only problem is the rubber valve inside the tube continually becomes misplaced and the pump thing falls off. I found myself spending more time stopping vacuuming to adjust the rubber valve that became misplaced rather than actually vacuuming. Finally added some silicone to both pieces and now it works really really well!! ... show more

I've had this pump for less than 5 months and only used it around 5-6 times. Each time, it got harder to use and its because the plastic on the inside that connects to the longer airline tube is brittle and chips over time. This is the reason why I can no longer use this item. The connection point is crucial to the pump holding onto the water and creating the suction. If it's broken, that creates an opening where air escapes. Despite the attachments all working fine, because of this one weak area of connection, the whole apparatus is rendered useless. It's not like you can do anything to replace that part either. If you're like me and don't use it often and way past the return date then there's really nothing you can do. Save yourself the money and just don't buy cheaply made products like this. ... show more

    • Really cleans the gravel!
I have been struggling with all of the sediment buried in the stones at the bottom of the tank for a long time now. The suction I was using prior simply wasn’t cutting it. I just received this today and used it and I cannot believe how well it works! The pebbles swirl up into the pipe, the sediment is pulled up with the water then you can let the pebbles fall bad out and they are so clean. It also keeps so much of the sediment from clouding the water while you are cleaning so it is a much better (healthier and less stressful) experience for the fish.
