I have a 112 gallon aquarium that's in the wall of my office. When I would clean the front I would use a magnetic cleaner or I have a blade on a long handle, but the problem is getting the tough algae and knowing where it is. The normal mag scraper does an okay job but at some point the tougher algae shows up and it take a lot of going back and forth between rooms. I just tried this Flipper Magnetic Aquarium Glass Cleaner and WOW it worked perfectly! I could use the blade on my glass aquarium and easily and quickly remove the stuff on the sides and near the sand. This is a game changer for me. HIGHLY recommend. Plus the surface area of the non blade side is larger than the other scrapers I've used, and the magnet seems stronger, which is a big deal for me because the glass on my aquarium (from glass cages) is pretty thick.

When looking at this and deciding to buy it, the price seemed rather expensive for what it is... basically a few magnets encased in plastic. And upon receiving it and opening the box, just looking at it -- I was less than impressed. But whoa!! That all changed the first time I used it! I have a 55 gallon planted goldfish tank that gets allot of light. And so stubborn algae on the glass has always been an big issue (Side note: I have been an aquariumist for over 37 years..... so I have seen and used allot of glass cleaners, including many magnet style ones.) Anyway, I opened the package and took it out and put it in the tank to use it Still thinking.... boy -- 39.00 seems like allot for this gizmo. ONE SWIPE. Yes folks... all it took just one swipe up and down the glass and I was hooked. One swipe up and down, using the "blade" side, took of almost ALL of the stubborn embedded algae that previously 10 min. of scrubbing had failed to remove. This scraper has an ingenious design- It has two little raised "bumps" on the blade side that make it press "nose down"on the glass at a VERY slight angle-- Thus causing the blade "nose" of the scraper press on the glass with a bit more force than the opposite end of the scraper. It is hard to describe this unusual little feature, but you will see it when you examine the unit. And I feel this adds greatly to its effectiveness because it works like a charm! Plus, the magnets held fast on the 55 gallon tank I was using it on. They are definitely NOT weak magnets. It has very strong magnets. Some other features are: It is two sided (Hence the name "Flipper") Flip it over from the blade side, and it also has the conventional "scrub pad" side that is perfect for removing slime algae and film. It also comes with an interchangeable plastic scraper blade to use instead of the metal blade. You would use this plastic scraper blade plexi and acrylic tanks. I was very pleased and would recommend this scraper. Yes, it is kind of expensive for basically some magnets encased in a plastic shell.... But you will easily get your moneys worth out of it just based on all the time you will save scraping your glass. It works very well! This is a good product. Cheers, Todd

For years, I’ve used other scrapers (magnetic, AND “scraper on a stick”), and this one beats anything we’ve tried so far. I have to say I was skeptical before clicking “buy now”. We’ve got a 50 gallon tank, and this standard sized scraper cleaned the glass in minutes. The only thing I wish is that I had one of these from the start. It functions exactly like the description says. The materials are very high quality, and the magnetic strength is exactly enough. 5 out of 5 stars, would do this again. Will gift this to friends and family who also have aquariums.

Great cleaner, but..... this magnet is super strong. I take every precaution i can to ensure that it doesn't scratch my tank. After the first use it looked like there was no glass in between me and my fish. It was stunning. But as the algae started to return it first targeted the defects in the glass (cavitation from scratches) it was then that I could see the micro scratches everywhere. Every time i went to clean it again the algae would return and show additional lines on the tank. After several uses the tank is pretty hacked apart. Now, this is still a 4 star product for me for several reasons. 1 - The tank was bought used for cheap with some damage already in it. 2 - Every time i clean it thoroughly you can not see the scratches, only when algae fills them in. So they are not that deep. 3 - THIS THING CLEANS, it is absolutely stunning how well it cleans and the ease of use. What used to give me tennis elbow every night and take me 30 minutes can be done in 2 minutes with ease. All the tough algae I couldn't get off with a regular scrubber just "lawn mowed" right off with the blade side. 4 - Slim design helped get to areas that I could never get to before. In summary I like this product for my tank. It does what I need it to and does it well. I can live with the downside therein. ALSO note, my tank is 1/4 in. glass which is the minimum for this mag cleaner. I feel the magnet may be just slightly over powered for that size.

Most glass cleaners work by using velcro on the tank side wall to scrub off most of the algae. Any blades they have on them are a bit of an afterthought and really only barely scrape the glass. This flipper is the exception. The action works 100% due to the blade and there is no velcro for critters to get wrapped up in. The magnet is strong and overall the cleaner is light weight. Works great with just a few passes over the dirty area.

I've had magnetic algae scrapers in the past, which weren't very good, but after ready so many rave reviews on this one, I took the chance. And am I glad I did. This is the best algae remover I've ever had. So easy to use and really does a fantastic job.
