It is compression and stabilized my knee and I could feel the difference when I moved about and end even walked to pick up my daughter. I gave it four stars because the top part, with the slip free material folded, a lot. I actually got a bruise behind my thigh from it pinching because of the fold. Also because of the folding, it slipped and I would have to stop and adjust it. Still I needed it and eventually the swelling went down. Recived these Wednesday(11/30/22) so im still in the process of breaking these bad boys in. I work in the grovery industry and i spent 90% of my shift either walking,pulling,pushing,bending,squating and kneeling. I've had bad knee injuries at a younger age and the pain is starting to catch up with me. I've used regular non-padded knee braces because i never knew that was an option. I've had a few before this pair(you have to buy two seperatly) some with a metal spring-like side stabalizer that once unhooked it never went back to a regular fit and the pair i had before these had a hole where the kneecap goes through but the sewing around the padding wore quickly,seperating the gel pad from the brace. THESE! I have had no complaints so far. Very well made,covered knees and all! I will admit,being a gentelman with thick thighs i was worried that they would roll down mid stride like the rest. NOPE! the grip around the top holds on rubber silicone like textured bumps that hold it up. two VERY SOLID side stableizers on each side of the single brace hold your knee in place but can still have the full range of motion needed for walking or working. I could even see joggers and runners use these,imagine what their knees go through?! I wear these during my 9hr shift and i feel no discomfort after the extended time wearing them. PLEASE make sure you follow the directions when you size up your brace. 5 inches from the knee and make sure it is bent in a natural position.(Is there an un-natural way to bend your knee?) if you need the compression size down if possile. I have only tried on this product so far, but it does not feel like it has enough compression on the knee. For reference, I have large upper thighs and I measured 18.5 at the measuring point of the size chart. This placed me in the beginning of the XL, so I sized down one size, per other reviews, to the L. This actually fits my thigh perfectly and the brace is super comfortable, but I don't feel compression on my knee. I am even wondering if the size medium would compress enough and I'm worried it may be too tight on my thigh. I have bursitis in my knee from a snowboarding injury and I need the compression to help get the swelling down. Overall, this feels like a quality product. The fabric feels really nice, almost silky, so definitely not scratchy, and the side supports don't feel bothersome. I am debating ordering the medium to see if it fits, and I would consider ordering one for my other leg to be able to wear snowboarding (if the fit was right). I learned something reviewing the many various knee sleeves available. Regardless of price they all for the most part share a similar design, side stabilizers. gel knee pad, no slip feature at the top and bottom. And regardless of price they all consistently had positive ratings (4 & 5s combined) of about 80-82%. Negatives were usually fit related (bad product really?? so refund or replace Amazon makes it easy) Real complaints were occasional skin reactions (not in my case but good info) or the side stabilizers broke. The percentages across brands were about the same. So why did I pick Aprut? - att the rare higher percentage of positive ratings with a large enough sample size. Time will tell. Between brands there was a difference in the size levels, small vs medium vs large etc. This does matter and reviews can help. In my case my thigh measures 16 inches which for many brands sits near the border. For Aprut its a large but suspected that would end up being loose and I wanted the compression so I ordered a medium. Glad I did. I think you should expect that over time with regular use (for me daily) these sleeves will stretch and no longer provide the same support. Since there's no adjusting the fit they eventually become disposable so decide before buying what you expect for a reasonable life span. I'm 70 years old, not an athlete, but I walk several miles a day with my husky. My right patella sometimes goes where it shouldn't and I'm not sure this sleeve will help as much as I hoped. Not a fault with the product which seems to be well made. And it is pretty comfortable which is not always the case with adjustable braces that use straps with velcro. Finding the right one of those types can be a trial and error process but for me I think is the way to go. ... show more

I want to get 50 more haha but there’s no reason to because I can tell this is sturdy and will hold up well Some of the brands on Amazon have obnoxious branding where you basically become a billboard.
