Description

AprilAire introduced the first evaporative humidifier for forced air furnace systems back in 1954. Since that time, AprilAire continues to lead the industry in whole home humidification systems. Our evaporative humidifiers work by piping water into the distribution tray located at the top of the humidifier. The water is uniformly distributed across the width of the tray and through a scientifically designed system of outlets. It flows by gravity over the Water Panel evaporator. Dry, hot air from the HVAC system is moved through the moisture-laden Water Panel evaporator. Natural evaporation takes place, the water is turned to vapor, and the humidified air is circulated throughout your home. INCLUDED IN THE BOX: Installation instructions and template, humidifier with built-in bypass damper, 24 VAC transformer, automatic digital humidifier control with sensor, outdoor temperature sensor, saddle valve, solenoid valve, and Model 35 Water Panel

  • Made Colorado Winters Comfortable
Style: Humidifier
I recently purchased the Aprilaire 600 Whole Home Humidifier, and I couldn't be happier with the results! Living in a dry climate, I've struggled with uncomfortable indoor air for years, but this product has truly transformed my home environment. Installation was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to the comprehensive instructions provided. Even for someone like me who isn't particularly handy, it took just a few hours to set up the Aprilaire 600. The build quality is excellent, and it's clear that this product is designed to last. One of the things I appreciate most is the automatic control feature. It maintains the perfect humidity level in my home without me having to constantly adjust settings. This has not only made the air more comfortable but also helped me sleep better at night and reduced static electricity, which was a common annoyance in the winter months. The performance is outstanding. Within a short period of time, I noticed a significant improvement in the overall comfort of my home. My skin feels less dry, my allergies have improved, and even my furniture seems happier with the added moisture. It's also a relief to know that maintaining the optimal humidity level can help protect my wooden floors and prevent them from cracking. In summary, if you're tired of dealing with dry air and its negative effects on your health and home, the Aprilaire 600 Whole Home Humidifier is a fantastic solution. It's reliable, easy to install, and delivers noticeable results. I couldn't recommend it more highly – it's been a game-changer for me, and I'm sure it will be for you too! ... show more

  • Improved design, comes with everything needed for installation
Style: Humidifier
This model is much improved over the 500 series. It's easier to open, and comes with a built-in summer/winter valve, digital controls, 120/24V transformer, and outdoor temperature sensor. It fit directly into the cut-out from the old 500 model, too. I'm very pleased.

  • Uses too much water & poor customer service
Style: Humidifier
There are three points that new customers should remember: A- the unit uses too much water and it all goes into the sewer, B- if you DIY install the unit, your warrantee is not recognized. They want you to hire a licensed HVAC contractor to install a $222 item. What a laugh that is, C- after you bought the item, you’re basically on your own; they’re not too enthused to listen to your problems. I let the drain tube into an empty bucket and timed it. The waste water is approx 2.8 gallons per hour. You do the multiplication from here on up and bear in mind that 7.48 gallons = 1 cu ft If your city doesn’t penalize you on excessive water use and you don’t mind paying the extra costs, the unit is fine but if you were born in the forties, no it’s not fine to waste water. And then within three weeks a yellow light popped up on the panel that says it’s time to change the water panel and the blower kept running for hours on end. When I contacted them, after 2 or 3 emails, a guy said, oh yeah, unit should be reset, some of them act like that and it will rest the blower circuit. I asked if the unit senses a clogged water panel and if so, where is the sensor? His response was no, there is no sensor, it’s TIMED. So they’ve got a timer circuit that tells you to cough up another 100 bucks or so for a new water panel regardless of how clogged the water panel is. Well, I wasn’t gonna buy all that. And I was fully aware that they’ve made a sale and I WAS ON MY OWN. I have 2 solutions, one temporary and one permanent and I’ll post them later after I figure out how to post an electrical diagram in pdf or a link to my electrical wiring changes. The temporary solution allows the unit to run for 6 hours a day only which also takes care of a run away blower by resetting the unit everyday. The permanent solution forces the unit to use a specified amount of water with the drain line of the unit going back into the same container for re-use. When the entire water volume is used, a refill circuit kicks in and fills the container back up. But you have to be familiar with reading a schematic and do the wiring. Don’t ask regular electricians do the wiring for you, they don’t read schematics and they’re only familiar with 20A receptacles and light switches. An electrical engineer who is willing to get his hands dirty is your best bet. Later ... show more

  • Super easy install
Style: Humidifier
Super easy to install if you can use sheet metal scissors. If you aren’t confident around sharp metal edges and thermostat wiring, you might want to have this done professionally.

  • Easy to install but time consuming
Style: Humidifier
As the review is titled this was easy to install but is time consuming. I hadn't installed one of these as a DYI in years so I read the install instructions on AprilAire's website and they were very limited. It made me hesitant but I proceeded anyways. When the product arrived the Model 60 humidistat came with its own instructions. These are really the meat of the install instructions and explain how and why everything is wired as it is and how the humidistat will initiate in different conditions. Keep in mind with the automatic humidistat there are 9 total wires so there will be a lot of running wires back and forth. If you go with the manual version I believe there are only 2. I did not research to much but I am still unsure why the humidifier and humidistat cannot run off the furnace 24vAC and need a separate transformer. I plan on doing a Smart thermostat someday so I did the separate transformer as to not overload the furnace. Also the blower feature is a really nice feature and again once you have the install instructions and understand how it works it is really helpful. Note: There was also a really helpful tip in the install instructions for the Outdoor temp sensor. It recommended using the unused wires on your A/C unit and stashing the sensor inside your outdoor condenser. This was a huge time savings. No wiring and no putting a new hole in your house. This would obviously not work if you were in using the humidifier in summer or you had a heat pump. ... show more
