iPad is great, charger not so much.

The iPad is working fine thanks to having another charger. The lightning plug on the charging cable sent with the iPad melted within minutes of being plugged in. (See picture.) Great price for a great tablet.

I’m always a little nervous when purchasing a refurbished product, but I’ve had pretty good luck on Amazon so far. Here’s my experience with my new-to-me iPad to help anyone who may be skeptical or afraid to pull the trigger on this purchase. Here’s what to expect. As for condition? The iPad I receiv
ed came in very good cosmetic shape, with only a few minor scratches on the screen, but unfortunately there was one very deep scratch that is about half an inch long that I can see even when the display is on. It is pretty easy to get past and only noticeable when you are very close to the screen. The aluminum enclosure is in near perfect condition and looks very close to brand-new. There may be a very tiny nick here and there, but nothing that is easily spotted or a cause of concern. Battery life for me may be slightly degraded from when it was straight out of the box, but iPads have awesome battery life for pretty much any situation, so it still lasts a very long time. And also note that the updated iPad Pros that released in 2018 charge with a USB-C cable. This means a standard Apple lightning connector will not work. I have been through a ton of what this iPad can do and it works beautifully for all I’ve asked from it. The display is phenomenal. 12.9 inches from corner to corner, which is a joy to work on. There’s plenty of room to work, study, and play. Watching movies and shows is also a fantastic experience being all-screen. Even 4 years later in late-2022, this thing is speedy quick and packs plenty of performance for your day-to-day tasks. It doesn’t skip a beat and Apple is still providing software updates for it as well. The camera is also very clear for a tablet and offers great performance for what it is. So far, I’d say this is an incredible deal on such a powerful device that feels like it will have no problem powering into the future for many more years to come. UPDATE: (10 Months Later) AUG 2023 - We are almost at a year now of the ‘refurbed’ iPad Pro and it’s still one heck of a performer with no issues or slow down to speak of. It just got updated to the new iPadOS 14 public beta so it’s still got a ton of life left software-wise. It does so much that even after so long with it, I’m STILL finding more things it does that I never knew it could… I’m still going to ‘daily-drive’ it for as long as it lets me as it has done everything I’ve asked of it and more. Since it is nearly 5 years old though, the battery likely needs to be replaced. I’m still getting great battery life as I only have to charge it maybe once every 2-3 days with mild to moderate use. With heavy use, I still bet you could get over a full day out of it easily. I find it very strange that you can find your battery health on iPhone and Apple Watch, but it’s non-existent on the iPad. At an Apple Store, the 12.9 inch Pro (3rd Gen) requires an estimated $119 service fee for a new battery. That’s a lot, so be prepared if you plan to ride it out for as long as you can. To sum it all up, if I would’ve known I’d have such a positive experience with this iPad being refurbished and all, I wouldn’t have been even the slightest bit nervous to purchase and would no problem do it again. Every experience with a refurbished product will be different. But if you go in with low expectations, you might just end up with a gem that exceeds them in every way possible. Just make sure you’re getting the 90-day Amazon Renewed Guarantee and use it to your hearts content within that period to make sure it’s the one for you!

I really like the iPad. The power supply, on the other hand...

I received the product well packed and in good condition. The battery appeared to be completely depleted. It came with a generic 3 Amp power adapter, and a nice long (10 foot) and apparently heavy duty power cable. I liked that. I plugged in the power supply and waited for it to charge. At length, I
noticed that there was a faint (I'm hard of hearing) beep sound coming out of the iPad about every 15 seconds. After some investigating, I found that the beep sound was because the iPad battery was going off and on charge, regularly. I unpluged the charger, and - no exaggeration - it was so hot that I promptly dropped it. I then found a power supply from one of my other devices, and the beeping stopped and a normal charge resumed. After my charger (2.5 Amp) had been charging the iPad for several hours, the IPad was charged and my adapter did get slightly warm, but it never did get hot. I checked the writing on the supplied adapter and it said something that surprised me. It had current specifications for 5 Volt (3A), for 9 Volt (1.67A), and for 12 volt (1.5A). It has no switches or any way I know of to set the voltage. It's my guess that it's "smart voltage selection" was stuck on 12 Volts and that it was trying to pump that much into the iPad. This was and is a concern, but I have 90 days to see if it will be okay. I hope so as I otherwise like this iPad. I reached out to the seller though email to request a new charger, which is according to the instructions on a flyer inserted in the box, but so far have heard nothing from them. I guess my next move will be to reach out to Amazon. So Far I am satisfied with the iPad. The edge of the aluminum shell around the front screen has a few small nicks, I guess in testament to the fact that it has been opened. However, I have not noticed anything negative in the performance. On powering up, before it was functional, the center of the screen was grayed out and I thought I had received a bad unit, but after the battery charged and it did the OS update, it was fine. As a part of powering it up, it automatically did an OS update to 15.4.1. The model number shown in settings is A1652, which I guess makes it a Gen 1, 2015 model. I have purchased a minimalistic protective screen and cover for the iPad. So far, I am satisfied. If that changes, or if I get a power supply, I'll add that information to this review. I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. The vendor has sent me an apple charger, so I am happy about that, and I STILL really like this iPad. I have shown it to my son who is in the market for a tablet to function as a 'Glass Cockpit' for an airplane he is reworking, and he was impressed with this unit. He may choose to get one. Also, because I have become more comfortable with it, and my initial case is more minimalistic than I want to trust a valued iPad to, I have ordered a hard case for it. So, for now, there is not anything that I feel uncomfortable about concerning this iPad, and I am cautiously looking forward to a long association with it, charger, battery, and all.

I purchased a 12.9” screen iPad Pro mostly to download and easily read sheet music, especially while playing piano. As far as that’s concerned this fits my purpose well! I look forward to finding more purposes for it as I use it more.

I am so glad I tried the refurbished iPad.

I would never pay over 1k for an iPad. Just not my use and not worth it for me. After reading many reviews and free return and the great customer service Amazon provides. I gave it a shot. It look like a brand new iPad. No differenu. Been using is for a while between me and my 4 year old. No issues.
I will buy more refurbished apple product in the future to save money.

Doesn’t seem to be holding a charge for very long

I’m hoping the battery time will improve, but I keep it plugged in, regardless. Finally realized that this is not a 12.9 inch screen but rather a 14.5 inch screen. Ordered two cases and neither fit before I figured out the problem. The only problem I’m having now is finding an appropriate case.

I love my I Pad Pro for my Tattoo Artist skills.

I needed the Apple brand to be able to purchase the awesome Pro Create App. With the Pro Create App I'm able to purchase and instantly download all kinds of drawings. I was even able to purchase Brushes 🖌️ that draw like a Tattoo machine
. I got liner brushes and I got shader brushes to practice and improve my Tattoo skills. I am I am very happy 😊 and pleased to have this I Pad Pro, for a deal price and I got it with the 2 year warranty.

Blown Away With The Quality and Incredible Deal!

I’ve always wanted to own a 12.9 inch iPad Pro but the price for a new one was always way too expensive for me. I never thought I would actually get to own one day until I decided to take a look at the refurbished market. I was very hesitant to buy one since I have never owned or purchased a refurbis
hed product before. Especially after reading some of the bad reviews on here it made me have some serious doubts that I would ever be satisfied with one. However, after reviewing the 90 day return policy I figured I could just return it and get my money back if I wasn’t happy with it so I decided to pull the trigger and oh boy, I am so happy I did! I bought the 2018 256gb 12.9 inch iPad Pro WiFi only model with the excellent condition description. It was delivered 2 days earlier than the original estimated delivery date and they actually sent me the Wi-Fi plus cellular model even though I paid for just the Wi-Fi one but hey I am not complaining lol I don’t know if I just got lucky with mine but I am honestly blown away with the condition, it literally looks brand new and I cannot find any scratches on the body or on the screen. All 4 speakers work and are loud and clear. The microphones, camera, screen brightness and responsiveness, and battery work flawlessly and I cannot find anything wrong with it. I don’t know if the previous owner took excellent care of it or if it was refurbished very extensively or what but I am so grateful and happy with my purchase. I bought Apple’s USB-C charger for it so I can’t speak of the charger that comes in the box. I also bought the Apple Smart Folio case for it at Walmart for $30 and also put a screen protector on it right away. I feel like I have a brand new iPad Pro in my hands for half the price of a brand new one. This 2018 iPad Pro is still very fast and worth it in 2023. The A12X bionic processor is still blazing fast and the 120Hz screen refresh rate makes it feel even faster. It feels like I am using the latest iPad generation model especially after installing iPadOS 16.2 on it which also includes Stage Manager (this is the oldest iPad Pro model that supports Stage Manager) Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend! Be very mindful that the tablet IS in fact renewed. Meaning it belong to someone, they didn't want it, and the sellers test the iPad to make sure it's still functional before selling it. There is a chance will be some slight flaws with your tablet that maybe over looked when you receive it but nothin
g that would hinder the performance of the tablet. Sometimes things get over looked, it happens. With that said I am absolutely in love with the quality of my tablet. A friend of mine recommended me this seller since it's where they got their iPad so I took her word on it. I wanted to wait a bit before making a review incase something happens to the tablet but so far I haven't come across any major issues. First of all it came in the mail 3 days early than expected so I was super excited to get home from work and try it out. Everything is super responsive to touch and to my pen, and the magnetic charge for the pen works as intended and charges fast. The battery on the tablet itself works fine, the only thing I noticed was that it takes a while for it to charge but that could just be my charger itself but the tablet does last for the whole day when I'm drawing and when I plug it in at night before I go to bed I wake up and it's ready for me to get back to work on. Minor scratches on the back and corner of the tablet but nothing that a case cover can't hide. Both sides of the speakers work so I can play music while I draw or YouTube videos, sound quality is alright but nothing worth bragging about. I haven't tried video calling with it or the camera because it's not something I would do with it, however when I hook it up to my computer to do streaming there is no latency. Overall I'm pleased with the product, it runs like new and it does what I intend for it to do- draw digital art with. If you're looking for an iPad that won't break your bank this is worth, plus they do guarantee a return or exchange if there is anything wrong with it. I say it's worth buying, but don't expect a brand spanking new iPad straight out of an apple box. There will be some small flaws with it but nothing that hinders the performance of the iPad.
