  • Learned my lesson after trying non-APC Alternative
Size: RBC7 Style: Battery Replacement
I’ve been using these APC branded replacements without issue for a couple of decades now. They cost more, but piece of mind is worth it. I went the non-OEM “a battery is a battery and I like saving money” route several years back. I had 2 identical units that use these batteries and both of the non-APC replacements ended badly. They both lasted about as long as the OEM batteries, but instead of just testing bad and replacing them without incident, they both got so hot that I had to turn the units off and unplug them for 12 hours until they were cool enough to touch. Once I was able to access the battery compartments safely I found that they were both completely stuck. I forget exactly how I managed to get them out, but I do remember that they could be moved slightly from side to side and that it took quite some time to “rock” them out. Once I removed them the reason was apparent, both batteries had shorted out cells that had swelled as a result, effectively locking them in place. No, they didn’t fail at exactly the same time, but it was a fix the first one, assume it was just a one time thing, then not too long after, there goes the other one kinda thing. The failures were so close together that I do consider it a single incident. Only a week or two apart. I put new APC replacements in each, lesson learned! Both of those UPS units were replaced about 5 years ago. One of them (the oldest) experienced a rather violent failure involving a very loud “pop” and a puff of smoke, but that was after it was taken out of service. It had been failing to recover from total battery depletion on restoration of line power for quite some time before that (it had to be powered up manually. Unacceptable!) It blew when I was using it for battery maintenance on its now unused “backup” battery. The other wasn’t responding to its power button with any consistency; both were retired at the same time. I’m wondering just how much the extreme heat both units experienced had to do with their ultimate failures only a few years later. They were both replaced with the latest version of the same APC units and both of those units original batteries are still testing good. The amount that they are both depleted during those short tests indicate that they will need to be replaced shortly, but 5 years is a good run. I’m very impressed, since the old units batteries generally needed to be replaced every 3 years. APC claims improved battery management has increased the useful lifetime of the batteries, I’m inclined to believe them. ... show more

  • perfect replacement for my SmartUPS C1500
Size: RBC6 Style: Battery Replacement
After 4 years I started getting the L0.1 warning on the LCD screen of my APC SmartUPS 1500. I knew the battery had to be near the end of its life so I wasn't surprised to see that L0.1 meant "replace your battery". There are a lot of cheaper batteries here on amazon but I selected the RBC6 for the following reasons: 1) comes with free return shipping of your old battery for recycling (they give you a website that you can go to and print out a pre-paid UPS label) 2) I already spent top dollar for a sine-wave UPS and didn't see the point on cheaping out on a bargain battery that might not perform as well as the OEM battery The battery installation required a screwdriver and took about 5 minutes. The C1500 does a battery test upon installation and that failed the first try because the battery wasn't fully charged. The instructions tell you to wait 5 hours and try again. I waited until the next day (while L0.1 continued to display) and then powered the GPS off to force a re-test and this time it passed. Finally I had to clear the L0.1 event from the C1500 by holding the power button for a couple of seconds and since then everything is just like it was before the old battery went bad! ... show more

  • Exact APC replacement battery for the UPS.
Size: APCRBC132 Style: Battery Replacement
Like the ability to "plug and Play" with out having to shut down the UPS. Note: the battery does not arrive fully charged (100%). Not a problem with our application.

  • Easy to replace
Size: RBC6 Style: Battery Replacement
It's cheaper than buying a whole new unit and install was easy. I have a SMC1500 I just pulled the front of remove to screws and swap the battery. Don't forget to pull the large safety connector out before removing it.

  • Got APC brand for the warranty
Size: RBC7 Style: Battery Replacement
Got the name brand hoping it would hold a charge longer, It does but not really worth $100 more though it does have a 1 year warranty.

  • True APC Battery at a great price, thanks
Size: RBC6 Style: Battery Replacement
So far so good. I just received my battery and it appears to be a true APC labeled battery. I installed it and am now awaiting initial charge top-off before turning the unit on and loading/testing the battery. I will update this review, if it fails, but I am not anticipating any problems. Note: I have seen other postings where people complain, and are claiming the battery they received is not a true APC battery. They say they removed the battery label and found they received a Chinese battery, but they didn't say who the Mfr actually was. So... Just for curiosity I removed the original APC Label from my old/original battery. This was the original battery that came with my UPS, and lasted six years, plus it sat discharged in storage for the last year (and didn't leak or explode). The original battery mfr. info was printed directly on the battery (not just another label). The print showed the Mfr. as "BB Battery" using a pair of model BP12-12 batteries, made in China. They are somewhat rare, but if you can find a true BB Battery brand for sale you will find they are at the expensive end of the price list, and a pair of 12V/12AH will cost you the same or more than this battery. At this point I have not removed the label on my new battery, and will do so only if it fails. Also note that the box this was shipped in has the APC serial # and identifies it as made in Vietnam. You may ask what's the point to all this? It's simple, APC apparently puts their Brand Label on batteries made by other companies, APC builds equipment, APC does not build batteries. I trust in APC to source decent replacement batteries. If you happen to get a defective one, well yeah sometimes that happens. Keep the original shipping box and Call APC (not amazon) for warranty replacement, because according to other reviews I have read Amazon says no returns on this "hazardous" material. Hey Amazon!!! How is it this battery is somehow not hazardous to stock in your warehouse, handle them, and ship them out to customers. But yet it somehow miraculously becomes hazardous to ship it back to them! A 30-90 Day return should apply! Really - stop blocking defective returns!!! ... show more
