  • Unbelievable for this price!
Model: Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo
The value for money is off the charts on this printer. We've only had it for 4 days and the poor thing has barely stopped printing. We had so much trouble in the past with our Ender 3 series printer that we had almost given up on 3D printing. Constantly trying to level the bed, adhesion problems, failure after failure on prints. Not this thing. It's amazing! The auto bed leveling actually does what it says. We haven't had to make any manual adjustments of any kind. Everything went together easily, and all but a couple of prints have gone flawlessly. The only two the messed up were tiny little buttons that were really poor designs. Adding a support fixed them no problem and they printed fine. The only thing that was a little confusing was the difference bettween wireless and "LAN" printing. If you want to use the software on your PC and control the printer from there - you will need to enable "LAN Printing" even though it's using wifi. If you want to just print from the marketplace using your phone or what have you, then you have to turn off LAN mode and log back in using the qr code with your phone. It sounds way worse than it is. Once we figured it out it is actually fantastic. I can't recommend this enough. It is super quiet, super easy to use, and ridiculously fast (you can choose slow, normal, and sport print speeds/qualities). I'm sure there are cons to be had, but we're super happy with it right now and I can't think of any yet. I'll update when I find them :) ... show more

  • Amazing printer
Model: Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo
Upgraded from an Anet A8 (2017) to an ender 3 (2019). I have to say the Kobra S1 is amazing! Great value! I do the auto level after like 5 prints (or 1 big one) to be safe. Quick and easy to setup! Literally print ready out of the box! Only used PLA, the only adhesion issues which were not many (like 3) were either because I didn’t clean the bed good or because the first layer was too fast, but that’s it! I use 70% isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to clean the bed every 2 to 3 prints. Tallest thing (which was the max height) I printed was an attachment for a shop vac, also printed 6 (multi color) coasters (at the same time) for my Etsy shop. Latest update causes the camera to lag in the Anycubic app and slicer but really no big deal. They will get a fix out soon I’m sure. I also heard (from Reddit) that they will be open sourcing the firmware (I think this month) but we will have to see. ... show more

  • Not made to last
Model: Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo
What could have been a great starter printer is ruined by poor design choices. The whole setup looks user friendly at first. They make components visible and easy to order, but once you start using it, you realize how unimportant those "features" are compared to the massive design flaws they overlooked. The camera is fixed at an angle in the corner and cannot even see the nozzle directly. Why not position it in a way that lets it actually detect real issues instead of mistaking shadows for print problems or completely missing a failed print? The hotend is marketed as quick change, but it's hidden behind a plastic cover that you have to crush to remove. The ACE dryer cannot feed certain filaments properly due to its flawed feeder design. This issue could have easily been solved by adding feed ports directly on the spool holder, like most other feeding dryers do. The dryer itself is just a heater box with a fan, no moisture sensor, no smart controls, and the default temps are too high. Filament would get jammed because it was stretched by the feeder, making it too thin to feed properly. Worse, to use filaments the ACE can’t feed, you have to power it off and physically remove it from the feed port. There is only a single input, even if you buy the combo that includes the ACE printer. I made it through two Benchy prints before I had my first feeding issue caused by stretched filament. After that came a stuck cutter. I spent two weeks trying to get consistent Benchy prints for calibration. Sometimes a part would start printing, only to fail halfway. Eventually, the extruder clogged completely and stopped feeding. At that point, I had to step back and seriously evaluate whether it was worth investing any more time. I ultimately decided to return it. ... show more

  • Having so much fun so far!
Model: Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo
I will first start by saying that my 5 star review so far is 5 stars because I have no other 3D printer experience to compare to, so I hope there is some understanding that there may be some bias because of that. So far I have spent about 48 hours with this printer and spent about 14 hours printing. I have been doing some basic testing by printing some Fidget toys as well as small knick knacks for the kids to play with. Here is some of what I have noticed so far: - The AMS is awesome to have bundled, and it makes managing multiple filament prints with ease. It doesn't have a dedicated "spot" on the printer, so you can either stack it on top, or put it to the side. There are some popular prints to had some standoffs for when you mount it on top of the printer so that you can still get full use of the top viewport. - Noise is a non issue for me. I have nothing to compare to, but my office is next to my kids' rooms and they are able to sleep and not be disturbed. The noise is nothing more than the mechanical whirring of the print head moving across the axis. The only time it was super loud was during vibration calibration. - Print quality has been honestly what shocked me the most. I honestly wasn't expecting something with this much quality from the price point, but the prints are incredibly accurate and smooth. My friend has one of the higher priced brands, and this one prints to the level of that $1300 kit. ... show more
