  • NOISY BUT FAST AND EFFECTIVE
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4.7/5) NOISY BUT EFFECTIVE The Anycubic M5S has been a fantastic addition to my workshop, balancing performance and ease of use. Here are the highlights: Print Quality: Impressive print quality with sharp details and excellent adhesion. It handles complex geometries effortlessly. Ease of Use: Almost ready to use out of the box. Simple assembly and intuitive interface, plus automatic bed leveling save time. Print Speed: Fast print speeds without sacrificing quality, enhancing efficiency in my projects. Connectivity and Features: Includes Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, with a useful print resume feature for power outages. Noise and Design: Modern design that takes up little space. It’s relatively quiet compared to other printers. Conclusion: The Anycubic M5S is an outstanding 3D printer that combines quality, speed, and usability. While it could be quieter, its overall performance makes it a great choice for beginners and experienced users alike. Highly recommended! • One big hiccup, doing great now!
There have been a few problems with this printer. First, WiFi is a huge pain to set up. There is something wrong in the firmware, so you need to load a file via USB to get Wi-Fi to work. Irritating, but not a deal breaker. However, after 5 months and about 2 months of use, the UV panel has started flickering badly, making the printer unusable. Replacement parts are $140 through the manufacturer, so roughly 50% the cost of the printer. I submitted a trouble shooting request with the manufacturer 4 days ago, but have not heard back from them yet. Big update: I reached out to Anycubic on their website. Me and the engineers went back and forth with trouble shooting for a while, and eventually we ended up replacing the LCD, motherboard, and ribbon cable between the two. I think this was an instance of bad luck where one short took out several components. The printer is fully fixed, and they provided the parts free of charge under warranty. It's printing great now, and I'm very impressed with their prompt follow up once I started talking to them through the proper channels. ... show more

  • I'm impressed
I was so intimidated about setting it up and calibrating it that it sat in a box for a couple months. The instructions aren't the best in terms of that, and I had to watch some youtube videos by users to figure out what I was doing. This is my first 3D printer ever mind you. The slicing program it comes with seems to be a little overexcited about adding more supports. I put some pre-supported models in, and it wanted to add more. So aside from the RERF, I trusted the slicer and let it add some. The print was near impossible to get the supports off of. I wrestled with it for hours and a lot of things got damaged. So my second print I ignored the warning, I stuck with the pre-supports that came with the STL I was printing to see what would happen, and it came out beautifully. I would say if you are new like me, it is probably worth trying some of the 3rd party slicers that experienced people recommend so you can see easier if extra supports really needed added. Ignoring the slicer and the instructions, I think it's a really nice printer and the results are amazing. I'm glad I went with this model to have a decent size build plate. It fills up a lot faster than I thought with the way models needs to be tilted to support. The touch screen controls seem to work well and are pretty user friendly. The machine seems really sturdy and well made. The build plate is really easy to take on and off and secure. The vat is a bit more of a pain than I would like to be able to remove because the screws need to come all the way out. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and think it was a great deal. ... show more

  • Awesome machine with one critical flaw
My original review of this product was extremely negative. I have since gotten it to work with some assistance from the manufacturer and I feel like a revision is in order. My original printer's LCD screen protector sheet became "foggy" after several prints. No, I didn't spill resin on it! This caused nearly every print to fail and I only discovered the cause when I ran the LCD test and saw that only a little light was getting through the milky fog. Customer Service sent me several replacement screen protectors and I've since had no issues with them. First of all, this is a nicely-made printer with a lot of cool bells and whistles. The resolution is great and the price is competitive with other printers with similar features. If I had to name a favorite feature, it would probably be the vat-cleaning system. If your print fails and you have bits of model stuck to the film at the bottom of the reservoir, activate the cleaning system at the 30-second level and you'll have an easy-to-remove plane of cured resin that comes up with all of the failed model bits attached. I wasn't especially interested in the online controls but I fell in love with them after just a few uses. I keep my printer in its own isolated room away from people and pets so being able to start a print from my computer as soon as I finish slicing it is a nice treat. However, there is one major downside to this device that needs to be mentioned. The printer has an auto-leveling feature that was the main selling point for me. My older printers required frequent re-leveling and it was usually the first step in solving any problems. I ended up getting quite good at it. This one has no capacity for manual leveling, which is nice when it works. However, there are times when the auto-leveling function just doesn't work as well as a manual adjustment and there is nothing you can do but re-orient your print to a more stable position and add additional supports. If you are having trouble, make sure the build plate was level when you tightened the nut. It has a tendency to let itself be fastened with a tilt if you aren't watching out for it. Besides that, make sure your LCD screen protector didn't go bad like mine. Aside from those two model-specific issues, follow any standard resin printer troubleshooting guides you come across and you should be good. That being said, when this thing works, it works amazingly. The prints come out fast (about 75% faster than my older printers) and the details look sharp. So far, 100% of my prints have been for tabletop RPG use and wargaming. I print a lot of 25-35mm little heroes and they look great. ... show more
