  • It good
Tbh, it'll last about 2 years before the cable starts to go out. It's sound quality is good but not better than some head set mics I've had. Also its sticky magnet pads don't stay on forever, ofc this should go without saying. Overall, it's good, not perfect.

  • Great cheap mic
My modmic 5 starts to acting up so I got Uni to replace while I'll troubleshoot the issue with modmic5 and I want a backup. The sound is great (according to my friend on discord). The build quality seems to not be as good as modmic 5. Given the price, it's understandable and good as a cheaper alternative. I wish the cord would be longer. On Modmic 5, it comes with 2 3.5mm cables, I don't recall the longer length but that was the perfect length for my gaming setup. It would be nice if uni come detachable like mm5 even if it's something like a 3.5mm female jack at the mute switch so user can use their preferred length cable with aux cable. Though, I'm no sound engineer so there might be some loss quality. ... show more

  • Very high quality
I’ve used this for a number of months now and it has worked flawlessly. I use it with my SoundBlaster G6 external sound card. This is the key to using this mic. You need a good sound card. The people complaining about this picking up everything is accurate. Because that is what an analog microphone does. There is no software or circuitry built-in to the microphone. It is just a high quality analog mic. Filtering out background noise happens on the software level. If you buy a mic that plugs into a USB port then it might already have some circuitry built into it that filters noise. Depending on how much you spent on that mic determines the quality of that mic and DAC. The SoundBlaster G6 filters out everything very well and this mic allows me to be heard more clearly. The mic mount is magnetic and can stick onto any headphones. I placed it on my Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro for when I need to do online conferencing or of course… gaming. Now I can scream back at the people telling me I suck. ... show more

  • Excellent mic but poor quality mute switch
I upgraded to the Uni from the 4.0 (unidirectional model). This is a clearer mic with more low end and a bit more high end, so it's an excellent upgrade. It has very generous low end, especially compared to other headset mics, so I can out it fairly far away from my mouth and get a very well-balanced sound. Keep in mind that the quality you get will depend on the mic input on your PC, so if you're not getting good sound, consider upgrading to a nice DAC. The mute switch, on the other hand, I could really do without. It's nice to have in theory, but it's a kinda crappy one that pops when you mute the mic, so I don't recommend using it unless you really want to annoy the person on the other end of the line. Given that, I'd prefer to have no mute switch or at least have it be optional like on the 5.0 version. It could also be nice to have only a few inches of cable coming off the mic and an extension to go the rest of the way. This would allow you to leave the extension wrapped to your headphone cable but still disconnect the mic. You could also connect the short cable into a headset that has a removable mic and use the headset's cable so you don't need two cables. Nevertheless, it's a minor complaint for an otherwise excellent product. ... show more

  • Quality is fantastic
But trying to find a nice spot to attach it to my headset isn't. It's probably the best mic I've ever had, but the mic stick itself is incredibly short and it doesn't flex. I'm not entirely sure why they thought this was a good idea. I don't need anywhere near as much cord as they provided either. It pains me because the quality is so damn good but finding a way to comfortable use this seems impossible. ... show more

  • Great add for my headphones
The ability to add a mic to any headphones was a key for me buying this. The magnetic attachment point is a great design and allows me to remove and readd on the fly. Sound quality is great and it works for me to play games with my kids.

  • Did not live up to expectations
I had heard lots of good things about the modmic, but I did not find myself liking it that much. A list of issues I had with it: - The magnetic clip is more annoyance than it is worth. Walking too far away by accident while wearing the headset causes the microphone to get yanked off unexpectedly. The strength of the magnet means that attaching the microphone causes a very loud bang that echoes through the headphones into the ear unless done very carefully. Rotating the microphone in its holder also causes loud noises. I'm sure these noises were communicated people I was voice chatting with when this microphone fell off of the headset and needed to be reattached. - Having a separate cord for headphones and the microphone gets clunky and they tangle together often. - The microphone toggle switch hanging from the cord is not the most convenient to find quickly. Moreover, there is no visual indicator to tell whether your microphone is on at any given moment, I would repeatedly feel the switch to make sure mine was off sometimes. - My mic picked up lots of static through my motherboard's integrated sound card. It also had some very weird recording qualities where it would pick up very wide and tall waveforms that were not even audible but showed up in the visualizer. I ended up buying a cheap USB soundcard to fix the static issue. I ended up replacing the modmic with a Fifine USB desktop mic which has been much less bothersome to me. I can clearly see when it is muted or not, the sound quality is better (no interference from the motherboard since it is USB), it has a gain knob on the front, and it is far less annoying to deal with in terms of cables and magnetic attachments. ... show more

  • It’s turned my AirPods Max into a gaming headset. Don’t tell anyone the secret tho.
This thing is clutch. I used it to turn my AirPods Max into an actual usable headset for gaming on PC / console etc with seriously great audio quality. I just wish that the mute switch felt more reassuring and reliable. Sometimes I doubt weather I’ve muted or not and have to do a mic check, but otherwise this thing saved my useless high-fidelity AirPods Max. ... show more
