This yarn winder gets the job done and works well, just be sure that the it is going in a clockwise direction otherwise it will start to unscrew after a while if moving in a counter clockwise direction. It was easy to set up and will hold a good size hank. I did follow the advice of another reviewer and put a thin foam under the winder (it does not screw to the table) and it stays in place - I wound 7 hanks in one session and it was find. This winder is a good value for the price and I am pleased with this purchase.

I was very excited about this item but it failed me miserably. The item gets three stars for excellent packaging, all items in box and prompt delivery. That said, I assembled the winder as shown in the video. I followed the directions provided and began to wind the yarn. I wound a small amount before the yarn started skipping. I rewound and wound the yarn again. Another few minutes, it started winding against the bobbin instead of the cake and started skipping again. It made such a mess! I ended up using my old foam roll that I use to wind yarn and as you can see, mine is a much better ball of yarn than the miserable one this winder made.

I do like this ball winder. I like the fact that if the yarn gets tangled, you can take the pieces apart easily. The one thing I don't like about this winder is it is REALLY hard to turn. It's a good workout. lol

Worth the money. if you have hanks of yarn this will pay for its self in saved time. It does not come with instructions but I have put photos of how you get it in the box and photos of each one put on then all put together. It is made of really good hard wood.
