Description

The Antennas Direct PA18 TV antenna preamplifier provides clean, consistent TV signals for reliable picture quality and reception. For antenna installations with weak signals in rural locations, the PA18 UHF / VHF amplifier will ensure ample gain while maintaining low-noise figures to help overcome TV signal loss from 100 ft. or more of coaxial cables, the use of a splitter, or weak signals from TV towers. The PA18 can be mast-mounted close to the antenna before the signal has weakened through the coaxial cable between the antenna and the TV or converter box. Helpful Tip: To determine if you need a PA18 Preamplifier, first make sure your antenna is pointed in the direction of your local broadcast towers. Connect only one TV or converter box to the antenna. Perform a channel scan. If you are not able to receive all your local TV stations, then you may need the PA18 preamplifier to boost weak TV signals. Details: Dimensions: 3.43"L x 3.9"W x 1.7"D; Compatibility: Outdoor, long-range antennas; Rural areas with cable runs over 100 ft.; Frequency Range: 40-862 MHz; Gain: 18.6 dB VHF / 15.4 dB UHF; Noise Figure: 1.6 dB; Features: 75-ohm F-connector input and output, All-weather plastic enclosure designed to protect the preamplifier from corrosion; Color: Gray; Includes: 2 x 3’ high- performance coaxial cables, low-loss power inserter, 12V DC power supply, zip tie, installation instructions. 90-day accessory warranty. Antennas Direct has helped millions of people cut the cord since 2003. • Seems O.K.!

Does the job!

  • Added channels
Size: All Purpose: 19dB Preamplifier with Fillters Pattern Name: Amplifier
I’m pleased so far. I have 2 antennas going into this up on a mast about 13 feet off the ground. (Antennas are the exact same brand and I’m using the exact same length of coax cable) I’m 30 miles from one market and 50 miles from the other. I pointed both antennas at the market that’s 50 miles away. ( I didn’t have good results pointing the antennas at each different market) I was getting 30 to 40 channels at first, with this setup I’m getting 102 channels from both markets don’t get me wrong some are not great, but at least 85% of the 102 are at least 75 out a 100 on a signal scale. The picture on HD channels is spectacular. I have an old Channel Master (15 years) 1 output distribution amp that runs 3 tvs a Hd homerun Dvr and dish network is still hooked up ( not for long though lol) though a 3 way splitter where it comes into the house, and another 3 way splitter at the tv farthest away where the Dvr and dish hopper are. As far as the power inserter went I made a loop from the antenna into the nearest bedroom so I could plug the power inserter into an inside outlet and back out to go to the splitter. Ground all outside splitters, the mast and the Juice amp, (this is important) Everything is working great at this time, I can run everything at the same time and so far no issues. I’m very pleased. I can’t guarantee you will get the same results, I am by no way an expert at this by any means. Again it worked for me, this is at a rural setting. Good Luck ... show more

  • Hit and miss with used or returned
Size: All Purpose: 19dB Preamplifier with Fillters Pattern Name: Amplifier
Someone prior before me damaged the wire connection between the AC to DC 12v power supply to power inserter other words the stay connected to the inserter. The got the outdoor tv antenna juice preamp the low voltage neatly wrapped I couldn't see the other end that wire goes to inserter at the time in the box came in. than looked at it closer the rubber hex than I notice the two wires going through the rubber hex not connected to anything. All I can say make a better design like a wire connector plug or something or "CAUTION DO NOT DISCONNECT THE WIRE TO THE INSERTER!!! will damage the product. ... show more

  • Works as advertised!
Size: All Purpose: 19dB Preamplifier with Fillters Pattern Name: Amplifier
I have two TVs splitting the signal from my antennas, one is much closer to the antennas and the other about 60 feet more cable which causes significant loss of gain. I added this amplifier and now both TVs have solid HD pictures. Make sure it is installed as close to the antennas as possible for best results. ... show more

  • A digital TV preamplifier that works for a while, until it doesn't
Size: All Purpose: 19dB Preamplifier with Fillters Pattern Name: Amplifier
UPDATE: I have returned the ClearStream Juice after more than two weeks of attempts to make it work consistently. Others have complained of it failing after it operates for a while, and that's exactly what happened with me. I tried different tuners and swapped out coax cables with no effect. I could make the Juice work again by unplugging it for a while, then plugging it back in after it cooled off, but it never lasted. Channels would soon drop out again. I could actually get better reception by bypassing the Juice entirely. I then bought a Channel Master CM-7779HD preamplifier to compare to the ClearStream Juice. The interesting part is that the Juice picked up more channels when I ran a tuner scan, but failed to consistently receive them. The Channel Master picks up fewer channels, but the ones it does, it receives consistently. That is why I'm keeping it and returning the Juice. I did notice from reading the Juice instruction manual that the power adapter it describes is not the same power adapter that came with the unit. I have to wonder if Antennas Direct had reliability problems with the original adapter. Regardless, switching the adapter has not solved them (at least for me). ____________________________________ I'll begin by saying that if you bought one of those cheap rectangular indoor digital TV antennas with the built-in amplifier for $20 to $30, and you're unhappy with the reception you're getting, then the ClearStream Juice preamplifier is the solution you're looking for. Yes, the ClearStream preamplifier is more expensive, but unlike of the no-name Chinese antenna amplifiers it actually works. You get what you pay for. Disconnect the amplifier that came with your antenna and connect the antenna to the Juice instead. I have a rectangular indoor antenna mounted to a closet window on the second floor of my house, and was picking up only 20 over-the-air channels that were constantly pixelating and breaking up. After installing the Juice I now have clear, strong signals from 50 channels. The difference is amazing. I'm getting video that is every bit as solid as my Internet TV service, even when it's raining outside. For my own setup I use the antenna and ClearStream Juice preamplifier with an HDHomeRun tuner box that's connected to my WiFi network. Downloading the HDHomeRun app allows me to watch local over-the-air channels on my large screen TVs using Amazon Fire Sticks, on my computer, or on my smartphone. One antenna, one ClearStream preamplifier, and one HDHomeRun tuner is all that's needed. ... show more

  • Item is good; included coaxial cable is very weak
Size: 8 Way Distribution Amp Pattern Name: Amplifier
The item works well, especially if you have a large house and need to send out signal to distant rooms. The only weak point of this package is the weak coaxial cable. It was very easy to bend the inner core without realizing when you install it to the AC adapter. I highly recommend using a spare, if not stronger cable link between the splitter and the AC adapter. ... show more
