I use this in my overly warm classroom because it's safer than a traditional box fan. The highest setting is also definitely quieter than my old fan, but it's still pretty noticeable. With the remote that comes with it, it has to be directly pointed at the display or it doesn't work. If your fan is oscillating this becomes almost impossible to use. I loved this fan for about 6 months. Then it started making a high pitched sound every now and then. About 8 months now and it makes the high pitched sound every time it’s on for more than 2 minutes. I’ve tried cleaning, moving, and changing speed settings and nothing stops it. I can’t sleep with it on anymore as the noise is unable to sleep through. Just get the normal ugly circle fan. I’ve had one of those for 6 years without issue. I switched to this because it looks better and takes up less space. I still gave it 3 stars because it does work (circulates air). I still use it during the day or while watching tv and you can’t hear the noise, but wouldn’t buy it again since I wanted a sleeping fan. ... show more

This fan works well on normal settings and has a strong flow when on the highest setting. When on the lowest, it's really not that loud. Out of the box, the oscillating feature did have the strange vibrating creaking sound others have mentioned, but after it fanned for a bit, that stopped. I haven't heard it since. The one frustrating aspect is that to dim the bright lights on the panel, you have to put it in sleep mode. However, it won't maintain the highest fan setting on sleep mode. After a few hours, it mysteriously drops to the lowest fan setting. This causes me to still wake up hot in the middle of the night. I've reached out to their customer support to see if they have tips on it but for now, I have to choose between low fan speed or bright lights at night. If that quirk doesn't bother you, it's a great fan for the price. ... show more
