This is an awesome chest freezer for an apartment or household (either inside or in garage) with limited space. I got the red color, and it is quite striking. It frankly looks awesome. A white or black freezer would have been more universally "easy" to fit in, but I think the red looks great. It really pops. Construction of the freezer is high quality. I love Antarctic Star as I have many items from them and I have never been disappointed. Their appliances always feel well constructed with solid materials. Once I let this sit for 4 hours to allow the freezer liquid to settle I was able to turn it on. I have my freezer set to -17F and it takes about a day to get there. You can see the frost build up inside and it feels nice and cold. The control panel is easy to use and understand with the instructions basically right on the LED. It runs pretty quiet. It came with 2 baskets and an ice scraper which is nice as well. The capacity is small, but perfect for a single person or small family. Conservatively we could store like 20 packages of store bought chicken tenderloins in here which is more than enough for our needs. Another great product from Antarctic Star!

I'd been considering adding a box freezer to our home for a while now. The bulk of our food storage is frozen because we're always on the go and things often go bad in the fridge before we can get to them. So we never really had enough freezer space. When I saw this listed, I decided to give it a shot. I'd been considering it, so why not? I can tell you right away, that it impresses quickly. After unboxing it, I plugged it in in my basement and set the temperature to 0 degrees (ideal temperature for long term food storage). What I didn't expect was it would be freezing cold within minutes, especially considering how quiet it is when the compressor runs. I'm not sure how long it took to get down to 0 since I had some errands to run, but I don't think it took long at all. 0 degrees is the ideal temperature at which to store food to ensure both safety and quality. Any warmer and you risk a freeze/thaw cycle or even some enzymes not freezing and potentially spoiling the food. If you make it too cold, you risk evaporation and freezer burn. Basically, while it's awesome that this thing goes down to -40 (supposedly), that is overkill. Still pretty cool that it supports such a wide range. That's not too common with home freezer units. The unit is seemingly built with high quality in mind. It feels solid. I couldn't find any obvious defects or design issues so the quality control seems on-point. Visually it looks both sleek and modern while also being simplistic. I mean, it's pretty much a black box (or a white or red box if you choose a color variant), but it does blend into my basement nicely. I don't need it to be a centerpiece. I just need it to keep my food frozen and stable, which is does. Time will tell how this holds up as I have only been using it for a little less than a month as of this review. It's been working great thus far which isn't a surprise, but I expect a unit like this to last between 10 and 20 years and I don't want to wait that long to give my review obviously! If any issues should arise over the next few years, I will update my review accordingly. For now, this is an excellent freezer and I feel confident recommending it to others!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when this freezer showed up, but after running it daily for a couple of weeks it genuinely impressed me with how quickly and accurately it cools down. Right after plugging it in, it got to work almost immediately, and within a few hours it reached deep freezing temperatures right where I set the dial. The temperature has stayed very consistent, which is something I really value and haven’t always had luck with in smaller freezers. Despite being a compact unit, the storage space feels generous. I’ve been able to fit bulk meats, frozen meals, and bags of frozen fruit without everything feeling piled on top of each other. The removable basket is especially useful for organizing smaller or frequently used items so they don’t get lost at the bottom. One of the biggest surprises was how quiet it is. It runs quietly enough that it doesn’t draw attention in the garage, and I wouldn’t hesitate to place it in a basement or utility space. It also feels efficient, which is reassuring if you plan to keep it running year-round. The lid stays open securely while loading and unloading, and even when the freezer is full, it maintains solid freezing performance.
