Easy install, quiet, and cools like a champ
Easy install, quiet, and cools like a champ Couldn't be happier with this Antarctic Star 12,000 BTU U-shaped unit. Installation was genuinely simple — I had it mounted in under 15 minutes, and from cutting open the box to being completely done and running, it took me less than 30 minutes total. No struggle, no calling for help. Once it's running, it's impressively quiet. The U-shaped design really does cut down the noise compared to a standard window unit, so I'm not fighting to hear the TV or hold a conversation. And it has no trouble cooling a large room — it gets the space comfortable fast and keeps it there. If you're on the fence, this one's an easy recommendation. Solid build, painless setup, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do without making a racket.

It's a hassle and the manufacturer is no help
I received this unit in mid June. Worked fine for a while, but over the last few days, it's been shutting itself down due to collecting too much water in the inner reservoir. I know it needs to be drained periodically, but after draining the first time, it's been collecting enough water to shut itself down every 2 - 3 hours. I have another model of this unit made by the same manufacturer, and it doesn't have this issue. Getting in touch with the manufacturer was no help. Their solution to the problem is basically to either leave the reservoir cap open to drain into a larger basin to be emptied every so often, or to attach a drain hose to the outlet and rout it to a drain or through the floor and out of doors. So far it doesn't seem like they're going to honor any kind of warranty. Don't waste your money.

Cute innovative AC design with a surprise perk
I was honestly impressed with this AC. My room gets really hot and humid during the summer, and this unit cooled it down much faster than I expected. I really like the U-shaped design because it lets in a lot more natural light than a traditional window AC. Installation was easier than I anticipated, and the included foam did a great job sealing everything up—it kept out bugs, blocked drafts, and looked clean enough that I left it installed year-round. One unexpected bonus was that the small front ledge became my cat's favorite spot to sit in the sun and watch the birds. Overall, a really thoughtful design that worked great for my space.

Love the design!
The AC works great! We love the design and the way it fits in the window. It was easy to install and comes with everything you need to install it. It’s quiet and cools the room off perfectly!

Quiet and very cool
Just installed. Very quiet. Cooled the house better in a couple hrs than my 12,000 btu portable did all day. Can feel the air 10 ft away. Dropped my temp from almost 80 to 74 in an hr. So far so good.

Damaged body
Unit seems to operate well, but body was bent and the fan makes a clicking noise when running.
