  • ANNKE Wireless Camera System, 8CH 1080P Full HD Wireless NVR Video Surveillance System
Color: 1TB
Purchased (2) 1080p ANNKE NVR WIFI IP Camera systems with extra WIFI cameras to install in my brother's house and his external garage/barn at the top of the hill replacing an older LOREX 960H CCTV DVRs with LOREX 960H and WIFI cameras with dedicated WIFI receiver modules. The ANNKE system comes packaged with extra items like a (4) port USB 2.0 bus adaptor which makes up for the single USB port on the NVR. An external antenna for either the NVR or a camera. A HDMI to VGA adapter, because the NVR only has an HDMI port. Alone with the typical items an HDMI cable and mouse. Each camera comes with its own power adapter, which provides plenty of power. Since my brother didn’t want too many holes in the house, we had to extend the camera power cables. I had to use a higher wattage power adapter on one camera install to compensate for load loss using 125 ft of power cable. The camera had 2 bars of WIFI connection strength at the NVR with a week signal notification. The voltage at the camera measured about 10.9 volts. The lower supply voltage affects the camera’s WIFI connectivity. So, we purchase a 12v 3A power adapter, and the camera is working fine. Using the external antenna had no change, because the voltage drop affects the cameras WIFI connection. Using Ethernet power line adapters connecting the NVRs to the routers enabled us to position NVRs in the house and barn to provide the best reception between the cameras and NVRs. Remember, idea WIFI connection is “line of sight.” HVAC duct work and brick will reduce and greatly impact the WIFI signal between the camera and NVR. History of my brother’s system: The LOREX WIFI cameras came with their own separate dedicated WIFI receiver modules to match up with to the specific camera. So, there was no need to pre-configure camera WIFI settings or assign IP addresses to match your network IP subnet/addressing. The system was easy to install, and the signal strength for all cameras was great. One camera is installed on a small shed that sat about 50 yards from the barn and house (picture a triangle). All worked great, and my brother liked it. However, with all things, nothing last. The Lorex cameras randomly locked up, to clear you needed to power reset the camera. It was a known bug for that LOREX WIFI camera model. Lorex came out with a newer WIFI camera model that didn’t have any hung issues, but still only provided 960H resolution. The ANNKE WIFI NVR IP Camera system is more complex, and if you need to add additional WIFI cameras or change IP subnet, you’ll need to connect each camera directly to a PC or laptop to reconfigure IP addressing for each camera associated to the NVR. What I liked, the ANNKE WIFI NVR IP Camera system comes pre-configured for easy installation. The cameras are setup with an IP subnet address, and all (4) cameras were already mapped and configured to connect to the 8 CH WIFI NVR. The remote Apple and Android APPs worked great using ANNKE cloud connection. The APP layout is a little cumbersome, however, I'm familiar with the awkward layout, because it’s very similar to other named brand camera APPs. We are planning to setup up remote access via a DDNS service with a specific HOSTNAME over the upcoming HOLIDAY. Remote viewing system using web browser: Interned Browser IE 11 has live view, but no option to change between Mainstream and Sub Stream. Not compatible with Google Chrome - you'll only get a static view with no functions. The web GUI layout in IE is okay and provides some – not all security camera parameters. Majority of the settings are accessed locally at the NVR. It comes with the good features like email alerts, area trigger, and push notification to the Mobile APP. You can add the “Two Way Audio” WiFi camera (AU-I41GF0103) to monitor the Front door. I have many pics of the system, but only could upload a few. Ping me if you have any questions or want to see more pictures. I gave this system 4 stars, because it can be too complex for the average home user to install based on your home/small business network infrastructure, and the APPs are cumbersome. Small changes in your home/small business network, can makes things complex. Then you’ll need to be IT network savvy person to perform the install. It has some lag in the video but my brother loves it. Very clear image day and night. Can’t go wrong with this 1080p WIFI system. ... show more

  • The NVR/hard drive failed after 30 day return window. Customer service is trying to resolve issue.
Color: 1TB
Update to 4 stars: Customer service sent replacement NVR and so far so good. I was reluctant to change out the NVR because I had the cameras working pretty good and didn't want to take them down to switch them to a new NVR. But thanks to the instructions my CS rep sent, connecting the cameras was pretty easy. The worst part was getting the time set correctly! All the cameras are outdoors and 2 of them are approximately 40' from the house and I couldn't get them to stay connected. I added the antenna extension to the one in front yard and that has helped a lot. I plan to buy another extension for the one in the backyard. If all goes well with this set up, I'll be willing to buy 2 additional Annke cameras to replace 2 older wifi cameras. I like that this set doesn't have to be connected to wifi, but I will say that it does interfere with my wifi signal and I had to move things around to get everything back to normal. Update: Customer service is attempting to resolve the problem with the NVR resetting itself. It could be the power supply or the hard drive, but they've offered to replace the NVR. Will update when and if it is resolved. I loved this system. I set it up in under an hour. It doesn't have to be connected to wireless - just connect a monitor to watch it live. Recording setup was also straightforward. The 4 cameras are all outside and though 1 of them drops off occasionally, the picture is very good. The night vision is okay as well. I haven't been able to get the sound to work on the TV I have it hooked up to even after following all directions but that's not a big deal to me. I had just looked for additional cameras to add to it when the NVR started resetting itself sometime during the night. The first couple of times wasn't a big deal. I knew something had happened because the monitor had an 8 camera view instead of the 4 camera split I set up. Everything seemed to be working and the recording was still happening, so I didn't worry about it. Then the next time it happened, the hard drive wouldn't start and said it needed to be formatted. Reformatting meant that I lost all the footage I had recorded but there wasn't another option. I followed the steps to format the hard drive but for some reason it kept stopping and putting up error messages. I contacted customer support at this point and they told me to uninstall and reinstall the hd. And that worked. But the system still reset and I asked them what was causing the problem. They gave me a list of things to try including using a spare hard drive and power supply neither of which I had. They also said to uninstall the hard drive and see if the NVR still reset. So far that seems to have solved the problem. But they won't replace the hard drive unless I send them a video of the NVR resetting. What that will tell them I have no idea. But it's either send them a video (I've got a cute cat video I could send) or pack it up and return it to them and once they get it they say they'll send me a replacement. They don't trust me? I don't trust them. I can't recommend this system to anyone unless you can afford to replace the hard drive and possibly the power supply. Good customer service makes up for having problems with an item. Bad customer service just makes it a bad purchase. ... show more

The cameras are decent in terms of picture quality, but I just cannot get over how archaic the Annke Sight mobile app is... just very limited functionality. NVR app is ancient as well, but I hardly go on there as I use the mobile app mostly. I think I should be able to fast forward on the mobile app if I am not using their cloud storage. I mean, why not? I am never going to be purchasing cloud storage, and I think most people would not as long as they have a hard drive in their NVR. Also, why am I not able to rename my cameras? I am thinking I should be able to - but I am not seeing anywhere where I can do this on the NVR. Just a lot of missing functionality that I think should be available on the mobile app, which is what most people would be using to access the cameras. I do not think I would repurchase. I have used the Annke Vision mobile app in the past and it was a more advanced than this one ... show more
