Shipped from Illinois. Arrived in original box. All parts were received. DVR and cameras were tested and found operational. I opened up the DVR (4 screws) and found no cooling fan, but there is a heat sink. There is no internal plug in the DVR to add a fan. DVR has no on/off switch. To power off, one must unplug the power cord. The cameras are in plastic housings - not metal. The joint for adjusting the cameras is a simple hinge ... not a ball-joint, so final adjustments are limited. However, the cameras can be spun for adjustment. The BNC cables seemed a smaller gauge than I expected, but they worked when tested. Picture quality was 5-star. This system replaced a 7 year old Dahua system that died earlier this year (the DVR quit ... the post-mortem found no cooling fan.) The original BNC cables looked good to me and actually seemed superior in quality to the new Annke cables, so I decided to try to use them - and the original cables worked fine, saving me from the pain of having to run new cables to the cameras. The "Annke Vision" app for remote viewing on remote devices was great. I followed the instructions available on Youtube and everything worked out great, the first time. Easy-Peasy. The images on the phone were clear. For remote viewing on a PC/laptop, take care to download the app that matches your operating system AND THE MODEL OF YOUR DVR. If you don't know how to find the IP of a device, you might want to get acquainted before installing the app on your computer. The model number of the DVR comes up the first time you access the system. It is also on a small label found on the bottom of the DVR, The written instructions that came with the system are in small print and hard to read. I used them sparingly. I did not have to contact tech support for help, but I did use the on-line Annke FAQs. PROS - price, features, remote viewing app on mobile devices, worked right out of the box. CONS - I suspect lower quality components, cameras without ball-joints, no cooling fan in DVR. A very good basic system with an easy to install mobile app. I have not yet started becoming acquainted with the features of the system. Added 08/17/22 The viewing angle of the cameras is surprisingly large/wide... much larger/wider than my original Dahuas.

We got this for home use. We needed a wired system of cameras because our internet is not great. We wanted a system that would alert us on our phones, and didn't want a monthly subscription. We've only had it hooked up 5 days so far, so we still have much to learn, but so far, we're very impressed. I won't say set up was easy, but we did seem to get through it. Thankfully the system seemed to get all the ip info once we hooked up the ethernet cable because what we know about ip addresses is not much! Also, once you download the app, you scan a bar code with your phone from the screen display, and it linked them. After I scanned that bar code, I could see video on my phone if i clicked on the app, however, it took me 4 days to figure out how to get push notifications on the phone to alert me to motion at my house. The Annke website was much clearer to me than the booklet that was included - their website was where I finally figured out why I wasn't getting push notifications & got it fixed. I love the push notifications! Also very impressed with the ability to play with the motion detection - a grid will come up on the screen and you can delete sections from the picture - specifically we had a treeline in one corner that was blowing in the wind & kept setting if off, so we were able to delete that section on the grid. The picture quality is great. We have it hooked up to a tv monitor. Daytime pictures are very clear. I'll have to update this review on nighttime view because I don't think we have it set correctly. One of the cameras has a good nighttime picture, but one of them is just basically black. We can tell it's our backyard, but that's about it. But again, this may be a setting we need to tweak - will update review after we play with it some more. I haven't tried customer service yet, so I can't comment on that feature yet because we hooked it up on a weekend, and it is available Mon-Fri. My main reason for getting the system was the ability to monitor the house while I was at work during the day, and it seems to be working fantastic for that.

My old system had a few cameras die last year (it was probably 10 years old). I decided to upgrade the entire thing. I am so glad that I did! The picture quality is SO improved. AND I was able to use the old cables from the old system, so I didn't need to run new wires through the attic. I wish I had spent the extra $100 to get the 8 camera system. The system is so user friendly that it is a breeze to switch around the layout on the video screen, so having more cameras wouldn't be overwhelming to manage. I would have given 5 stars, but one of the cameras started showing only night vision even in daytime, so I have to figure out what the issue is. I hope it's an easy fix and that it doesn't start happening to other cameras UPDATE: the black and white issue seems to be all the cameras. I have to reset their power supply every few days. An easy fix, but shouldn't be necessary
