  • A bit finicky
I used this with an older 3000psi washer and had to change out all the hardware connectors to use this. There really isn't much to it other than the wand, hose, clamps and pickup tube. The first few times I tried it I just used play sand it plugged the feed tube. I ended up screening to remove anything larger than a sand grain and it began to feed.... but then plugged up. I had sun dried to sand on a tarp and apparently that was not good enough. I had to really make sure the sand was dry, dry, dry...... and dry some more to get it to feed. Even then it would feed, stop, feed, stop and you could feel it when it did either. When it was feeding it removed paint and rust from my old Jeep frame, but most times it didn't feed consistently. I'm sure it was because of my sand. I'm going to try soda next and see if that is any better. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work
Hooked it up to my Honda pressure washer and it wouldn’t suck up the sand. Bought a while back and finally got around to using it and it didn’t work at all, I have good sand for it, just doesn’t suck it up.

  • Great Quality
I use this with a 4,300psi pressure washer with a long wand. I use it for removing paint and rust off metal fencing, vehicles, tools, and various farm implements. It works great, one thing to note is to point the sand hose upwards on the wand end so that the water cannot drip back down into the sand hose. I recently sprayed an entire spiral staircase in less than 4 hours saving days of work with a grinder, my back, and the finish left is much more uniform than I would have gotten with a grinder. For vehicles, you can use outdoor 3m painting tape and angle the water away from the tape to sandblast panels or entire vehicles. The strength of the pressure washer used makes a huge difference in how well it works. The bigger the compressor, the more sand it can pull at a time, and the harder it's going to hit the surface when sprayed. I don't think I would want to bother with this tool if my pressure washer was any smaller. I've owned and used a few of these over the years and this one is better quality than the other brands I've tried. I have yet to have a single nozzle clog. 10/10 ... show more

  • Better than expected!
For $30, I wasn't expecting much. But after $20 worth of sand and a few bucks of fuel in the pressure washer, I was pleasantly surprised! I am powder coating some aluminum rims, and needed to prepare the surface. This thing works amazingly well for being so simple and cheap. Not only did it give a great surface profile for powder coat, but it's relatively quick and easy. Now most of us spending $30 to do something that a professional outfit would charge hundreds for are probably not using the best sand. My pick was Quickrete all purpose sand. The first bag went ok, only one rock jam up. The second bag, not so well. Luckily I had some coarse-ish mesh screen for my RV screen door so I started filtering the sand halfway through the bag. I was amazed at the number of rocks in it! One other thing I learned is that when a rock jams into the tip, you will then have backflowing water going toward your sand. This is bad. This is where the device loses a star. If it had some sort of check valve on the suction line, you wouldn't have to worry as much about possibly backfeeding water into your sand and making it unusable. I didn't ruin any sand by getting it wet, but I got close. Next up is covering your sand bucket. You do not want any overspray getting in there. I followed another reviewer's suggestion and had my sand bucket on my truck tailgate, and wheels on the driveway. this will help your sand to gravity feed. Another thing that would be great is to use a funneled blast pot for your sand. Toward the end of a bucket I had to keep adjusting the suction tube and shaking the sand. Using something with a taper at the bottom would help with this and eliminate the suction tube if you could just attach the hose to the bottom. I'm not sure if this is as efficient as traditional dry blasting. After finishing two wheels, I had gone through about 130# of sand. In a nutshell, would I spend another $50 to save hundreds? Definitely. But either buy good media or screen your sand first. Get your cars far away too, or anything else that doesn't agree with sand for that matter. Wear crappy clothes. And plan on stripping down as far as you can and hosing down outside afterward. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Didn't think this product was going to be any more than a gimmick honestly. Was pleasantly surprised how effective it was it quickly stripping off decades of rust from an antique drill press I picked up to restore. I used inexpensive black diamond sandblast media from tractor supply that cost somewhere around $12 for a 50 lb bag. This media was a little bit too course for the nozzle size so I didn't get consistent flow but it was a good enough to take care of this job in about 15 minutes. Next time I use it I will try quikrete mortar sand from home Depot which is also cheap but it has a slightly smaller grain size. Totally worth purchasing as long as you have an area you don't mind getting covered with whatever you're using as an abrasive. The system does make quite a mess but so would air driven sound blasters. ... show more
