  • Simple and amazing. READ THIS REVIEW.
Over the last few years, I decided to ditch all the big, bulky sound systems and stereo equipment. I am tired of running wires and having speakers everywhere. For the TVs in my house, I went with soundbars - simple and small, yet capable of amazing sound. …so, what to do about the record player? I wanted something that 1.) had a small footprint, 2.) was not required to be connected via wifi, and 3.) sounded great. Then, I came across the Andover Audio Spinbase. I read the specs and the marketing jargon. I read reviews… but I still wasn’t convinced. I thought that a small unit like this would never sound good, especially without an external subwoofer. I was wrong. This thing is amazing. PLEASE NOTE: if you are looking to fill a large space with the highest quality sound or if you’re a total audiophile, this might not be the solution you are looking for. But if you want something that looks clean and understated, puts out sound above its weight class, and is a dedicated device for your turntable, this is it. Knobs on the back allow you to adjust the treble and bass, and one simple knob on the front turns it on and adjusts volume. Simple. I cannot believe the low end that this speaker is capable of producing. No external subwoofer required. Think if it as a “Bose for your record player.” It seems like everything now-a-days needs a wifi connection or bluetooth; that’s great for a lot of things, but the Spinbase is designed for one purpose: playing music from your turntable. That’s it. No updates, no connection issues. Plug it in and drop the needle… the way records were meant to be enjoyed. If you’re on the fence, BUY IT. ... show more

  • Sounds great
The Spinbase works as advertised. Sounds full and rich. The bass is decent for the size of the unit. It is stereo as well. Two drivers for the right channel, two for the left. I'm using it with a vintage Rotel turntable. I bought this instead of bookshelf speakers, and I'm glad I did. Cleaner look, and doesn't take up much space. UPDATE: I had an annoying hum coming from the unit at moderate to higher volume levels. I'm sure it was caused by my 40 year old turntable, and not the Spinbase. I ran a ground wire (about 20 gauge) from the ground post of the Spinbase to the ground port on the extension cord. The buzz is gone!! ... show more

  • Awesome Device!
This thing kicks! Great sound and awesome form factor. Multiple hookups make it possible for me to have it hooked up to my turntable and my tv. That paired with its Bluetooth capability this thing is an all in one beast! Only downside is the cable that came with the speaker gave tons of humming noises and I had to switch it out with the one that came with my turntable. Package was delayed by a day but other than that the package arrived in good shape. ... show more

  • Awesome. Exceeded Expectations.
The media could not be loaded. To be honest, I had never heard of this brand and have spent more money than I care to admit on solid state, hybrid, and tube amps, DACs, and headphones. I wanted some speakers to fill a room with sound rather than powered headphones and I wanted something that was clean and compact. After looking for actual small speakers to go on a shelf and finding nothing acceptable, I saw this and saw the positive reviews and pulled the trigger. No regrets. Simple, great form factor, and fills a two story cathedral ceiling room with really full and wide sound with no distortion. To be clear, even at half volume this is pretty loud so I have not turned it all the way up — so there may be distortion at higher volumes but at that point ( in my opinion) why buy mid-to-high-end audio equipment as playing anything at that uncomfortably high of a volume will make nuances of song indiscernible? The sound, to my ear is great - slightly warm, perfect amount of bass for comfortable loud listening, and a surprisingly wide sound stage. ... show more

  • A worthy (and compact) investment!
The media could not be loaded. Since ditching my briefcase turntable after a few good years, I upgraded to an Audio-Technica, but quickly realized I needed the right sound system. With a smaller space, and wanting to keep the look streamlined, I’m so happy I stumbled upon this speaker that sits underneath the player. Not only does it look great in the space, the sound is phenomenal and was easy to set up. While a pricier option, it’s already made listening to my favorite records an even better experience. Rating four stars because it could be a bit louder, but again, it’s nearly perfect. ... show more

  • Easy setup
Great sound, great controls. I’m not an audiophile pro, so I wanted automatic arm control. Paired with the Sony PS-LX310BT turntable it takes very little space and sounds like a $1,000 system. With the usb port I can convert vinyl to digital.

  • Great sounding speaker!
This thing really does fill the room with sound! I love the design and size. Please do not use the ground cable that came with the speaker. After set up, I had a horrible hum. After some experimenting, it was fixed with a new ground wire.

  • Easy to set up, fantastic sound.
Incredibly easy set up with instructions. No assembly or special parts needed for most turntables, simply plug in the line-in cables and you’re good to go. Sound is incredible! I’m a bit of an audiophile but on a tighter budget so I don’t have the capacity to get a receiver, two speakers, a subwoofer, and all the accoutrements. This speaker definitely scratches that itch. Highs are audible but not piercing, mids are clear, and bass is strong! The dials on the back definitely make a difference as well. Highly recommend if you have a turntable but no speaker! ... show more
