Great Filament
I’ve tried a lot of filaments, but this AMOLEN dual-color silk PLA really stands out. The red and gold blend looks absolutely gorgeous — it gives every print a premium, metallic look without any extra painting or polishing. The color shift changes beautifully depending on the light and angle, which makes models look dynamic and professional. Printing performance was excellent too. It fed smoothly, no tangles, and stuck well to the bed with minimal stringing. I didn’t have to tweak my normal PLA settings much — just slightly lowered the temperature for that perfect silky shine.

It strings like crazy

Cons. First of all, Its expensive. My first print was 31 hours. The first layer from the spool popped because of moisture. I did not dry it before I used it. The amount of strings it left on my print where unbelievable, but the strings are really strong. The black filament only left a lot of artifacts in the surface of my print. The blue was smooth. By hour 26 I was getting under extrusion. I let the print finish before I worked on my machine. My nozzle was half blocked with something. Pros. Its strong. I am having a terrible time removing the strings. The layer adhesion is excellent. And it looks cool. I will adjust my slicer settings and try again.

Nice shiny surface and deep color

This was the first PLA Silk filament I have tried. I’m very impressed with the outcome. Very shiny surface and an interesting color blend, but seems it all depends on what you’re printing as to how well the black blends into the color. Some items have been one side black and the other the color it’s mixed with. Some have a really nice blend.

Pretty filament

Awesome filament. It takes a little tinkering at first and I 100% recommend using a glue stick on your build plate. This is the only silk that I’ve used so far that has really required a glue stick but if you’re having issues with adhesion definitely do that. Beautiful colors.

Blends depend on what you're printing?

I honestly like the sheen of this silk PLA filament. I never had a quality issue printing with the filament, it loaded easy and did what a decent filament should do....print. However the color blend was underwhelming. I think had the black and blue been woven in more of a swirl pattern there would be a more unique color blend. The filament was loaded on the spool with the blue and black facing opposite sides and never crossed sides. So your print front facing may be blue or black the sides may have a decent mix of the 2 colors but then the back will have the opposite color of the front. I have this a 2 because it does print very well but it was the advertised print job that caught my eye and led me to purchase. I have not been able to replicate the color blend quality seen in the advertised picture. The print in my photo took about 22 hours to print. At the bottom of the Blue/Black print there is a decent blending of the color that faded as the printing progressed making blue the highly dominant color in the front with black on the backside. Edit: I purchased 3 color variations from Amolen. Since I can't do a separate review for each result I will jam my thoughts into this edit. I've experienced mixed results. The Blue/Black underperformed in my opinion. The Red/Black and the Black/Red/Gold were a hit. Another pain point I failed to mention. 1) for larger prints you may want to use a glue stick. I've tried adjusting the plate temperature with no luck using the glue stick didn't 100% fit the lifting but it helped a lot.
